Ways to Find Potential Backlink Providers
-
We are doing a backlink campaign for a personal development training company that is a pretty good authority with lots of good long articles. So far I found competitors ranking for our keywords - about 10 of them - and analyzed their backlinks
We found about 40 possible backlink providers.
What's the next step to find more?
I know 2 possibilities so far:
-
do inurl commands in google to find related sites with resource sections - how do I do this?
-
Analyze the backlinks of the sites that make up competitor's backlinks.] - how do I organize this huge task?
What else is there?
-
-
For analyzing backlinks of competitors my approach is to download the CSVs from Open Site Explorer for the top competitors (filtering for the entire domain and followed links).
Put these CSVs into an Excel workbook and convert each sheet into an Excel table (to make it easy to filter).
Sort the rows of each sheet by descending Page Authority.
Go through each sheet and highlight any URLs that catch your eye as potential link opportunities.
Lastly, filter the list to put the highlighted rows at the top so that you can look into these opportunities later.
The following Google query has worked well for me:
keyword phrase inurl:links
-
For #1, you could do some simple queries such as:
- personal development inurl:resources
- personal development training inurl:resources
Feel free to mix up the keywords to get the results you want. Then, export the Search Results and begin to filter in excel.
For #2- I think this would just lead you on a long, wild chase without yielding a ton of results. Not sure how much time and manpower you have to put towards this.
One thing I've been enjoying lately is using Followerwonk to find Bloggers on Twitter who write about your subject. Good post here for more info:

There are so many strategies to consider listing. Perhaps, you could take a good look at these two resources and see what fits into your timeline.

Hi Fans of MOZ, is there anyone out there that knows MOZ like an uber user and understands the details on crawl reports and what they mean? I'm looking for someone to review my MOZ results and give me some practical suggestions to work on with my SEO and web teams. Any takers?

404 error for unknown URL that Moz is finding in our blog
I'm receiving 404 errors on my site crawl for messinastaffing.com. They seem to be generating only from our blog posts which sit on Hubspot. I've searched high and low and can't identify why our site URL is being added at the end - I've tried every link in our blog and cannot repeat the error the crawl is finding. For instance: Referer is: http://blog.messinastaffing.com/take-charge-career-story-compelling-cover-letter/ 404 error is: http://blog.messinastaffing.com/take-charge-career-story-compelling-cover-letter/www.messinastaffing.com I agree that the 404 error URL doesn't exist but I can't identify where Moz is finding it. I have approximately 75 of these errors - one for every blog on our site. Beth Morley Vice President, Operations Messina Group Staffing Solutions

After complete the jobs of keywords, it may worth to spend more time for building up more backlinks to enhance the SEO, so do you have any suggestion about which kind of backlink is best to build? as I know now, the backlinks are classified to be: 1. profile article, 2. book mark, 3. signature, 4. wiki article, 5. blog comment etc. I am very new for SEO, so it's welcome to give me any suggestion or comment for my opinion as above. Thanks a lot! -John.

Using api to find likes, tweets and shares
Hi all, I have a question regarding using the API to get data on a list of urls and not one by one. I am not a developer so I might not grasp the API so well. Basically I have a list of urls, what I need from each is the following information: <colgroup><col width="98"><col width="89"><col width="92"><col width="111"><col width="99"><col width="50"><col width="64"></colgroup>

| Page authority | linking root domains | total links | Facebook Shares | Facebook likes | tweets | Google+1's | I found a google doc that gives me SOME of the data but not all (also it might be old as it uses the linkscape call (I dont know if thats changed)) Any idea how I can tune my googledoc spreadsheet to include the additional metrics? Thanks 🙂0 -
Is anybody else having great difficulty in finding good link opportunities on Open Site Explorer?
I've been using OSE for a while now, and I'm struggling to see any value in it. When I search my competitors link profiles, I find just hundreds and hundreds of crappy reciprocal links, splogs or the like. I have to go through days and days (thousands of links) before I find anything worth using. Is anybody having this sort of problem? Thanks

Is there any way to change the domain in a campaign here?
When I started the campaign I used site.com but now I have an external blog at blog.site.com and is hosted on tumblr. This site gets lots of errors showing on the campaign because insists on following no-follows. If I change the campaign to www.site.com then blog.site.com will not be part of the campaign. It does say in the help that it will NOT track sub-domains, but it does and hence my problem. So, I am not sure if the rest of the info there is old. 'Does the Web App track the subdomains of my campaign’s domain?
Moz Pro | | oznappies
A. Unfortunately we do not currently track subdomains as a part of the
domain you enter. Instead, you must create another campaign slot for any
subdomains you wish to track.' Any ideas on where or how to do this?0 -
In OSE is there a way to see the total number or links coming from each domain?
Open site explorer will only show up to to 25 links per domain but in order to fully understand the link profile for the site I'm working on, I need to know how many links are coming from each domain - when I download the linking domains report, it doesn't contain this information. Is there a way to access it?
