Best kw difficulty score to go for as a newbie

I have been using seomoz keyword difficulty tool for quite a while. My question is, which is the best keyword difficulty score to go for as a newbie? I have seen many keywords at the range of 40 to 50 but I dont know if it will be easier to rank them esp with a new website.

Along the lines of what Bryan said, it depends on the niche you are competing in, and the authority of the website you are working for.
If you have a large domain with lots of pages and content that is relatively optimized, it will be easier to compete. If you have a new domain with just a few webpages, most keywords with traffic will be tough to compete for.
Slow and steady wins the race, but you can add targeted content consistently to move quicker!

40 to 50 means that there is moderate competition for these terms. In most cases it will take some hard work to rank for these. Not sure how much you know but there is a ton of ways to earn rankings. It all depends on the niche and your involvement. SEOmoz has tons of ways to earn links, find the one that works for you and you demographic.

How do you explain this in this Keyword Difficulty Report?
Hello here, I am trying to understand how my site virtualsheetmusic.com can better compete for the keyword "sheet music download" where we used to be 3rd until a few months ago, and now we are at the 5th spot. But here is my specific question: I can't find an explanation why two of our competitors are ranked before us at the 3rd and 4th spot. Please, look at the attached image (very wide) which shows the Keyword Difficulty Report for this keyword. You can also download a PDF of it here below: http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/storage/keyword-sheet-music-download.pdf We are at the 5th spot, and the two competitors highlighted in pink are the ones I am talking about: I am trying to understand why they are ranking better than us, despite our metrics look much better than theirs. In fact, if I look at the metrics in the report, I can't find an explanation to justify their outrank against us, so there must be something else that the report is missing. What is the best ranking checker solution for 100's of sites
Hello, We used IBP for over 2 years and it worked great. We were able to schedule every clients site to auto run and email our clients. Now IBP is terrible due to Google's new updates. We are looking for something cost effective since we have 100's of websites we check on a weekly basis. We are either looking for a great software that uses proxies to check, or a service that offers unlimited sites and is cheap per month. We have searched for many, however there are so many that we aren't sure what is good and what isn't. We tried Jonathan Ledgers new one and it's not good, we looked into Web CEO and it's per amount of websites which is expensive. We tried cute rank tracker which is free and added proxies and it doesn't work, it lags out and doesn't even track ranks properly. It wouldn't hurt if it had a built in report analysis of the website as well. So whats a good one?

What is the best Dev company to use to make a white label SEO Dashboard
If anyone knows of a design someone has built, or if you know of one that we can purchase and customize ourselves that would be an option too. I am looking to have a company build us a white label SEO dashboard that integrates SEOMOZ api and SEMRUSH api. I also like majesticSEO api for the lost links only, the rest of majesticSEO I don't really care about I like SEOMOZ much better hence why I am here. I need the following 1. Someone to be able to login and add their logo if they are a reseller company of our services, so we can offer white label solutions to them. 2. I need to have an admin section where we can upload backlinks. The admin section should do the minimum 2.1 Allow us to select a website, select a link type, and upload the backlinks. It should extract specific columns from a CSV and upload them into the desired website/link area like a guest post or a social bookmark etc.. 3. We need graphs and all of the fancy looks for others to look at.. 4. We want to make sure that someone can download the report to their desktop in a doc, excel, or pdf form. Extras Automatic rank checking like IBP or Jonathen Ledgers new software etc.. If not I will just continue to use IBP it's not a big deal.

Meaning of Keyword difficulty
Before joining SEOMoz I used to calculate Keyword difficulty with my own method based on keyword density, presence of synonyms, Page rank, title and URL. This seemed to rather well work and I reach 1st page on a fairly regumar basis by picking good difficulty / interest ratio keywords and only onsite optimization. (No link building) I just looked @Keyword analysis in SEOMoz. It seems it is only based on page / site autority. Is this correct? Do you believe keyword and synonym density is irrelevent? Do I need to set back to my home recipe if I want to include keyword analysis in my difficulty assessment ? Thx

Significance of SEOmoz`s keyword difficulty
Hello everybody, currently, I am working on a project that will be available in multiple languages. My problem concerns the difference of the German and English language in relation to the SEOmoz`s Keyword difficulty (KWD). I just finished my German keyword research and got a satisfying collection of keywords I can use according to the KWD, page/ domain authority, Backlinks and Onpage-check. Now, as I am doing my research for the English market I find it hard to find any appropriate keywords with a satisfying KWD. I imagined the ranking on the English market to be much harder but now I doubt to ever rank for any useful, effective keyword on my list, because most of them are over 70 (some important over 80). According to the research it seems to have something to do with the authority strength of the pages, trust, etc, because they do not have more backlinks. Since they are query independent it is very hard for me to get a feeling for those metrics (I am new at SEO). So here are my questions: Due to your experiences, is it even possible to derank such pages or should I simply save the effort? How significant is the SEOmoz`s KWD? Would you always do Onpage optimization (text, internal linking) in case you earn more trust, authority, etc in the future, just to have your site optimized on the best keyword possible, even though you know that you cannot rank for that keyword (Cue: User-experience)? Or would you switch to less significant words (e.g. flashcards -> index cards) where you have a chance to rank but which is not that effective with traffic? Or focus on longtail, if possible? Best Online Branding Strategies?
Hi all, The CEO of my company wants me to start branding the company, basically from the ground up. I've been doing a bunch of reading on how to properly do this and only got so far as to be reiterated the same exact jargon everywhere I go: -"Put your logo everywhere" -"Have a clear company motto" -"Use branded keywords in backlinks" -"Include your logo and social links in company-wide email signatures" -"Make sure your brochures match your website, etc. etc. etc." I've not yet seen something I feel is worthy to report back to big boss as far as an good SEO strategy that is impressively branding central. Can anyone refer me to some GREAT articles with a to b instructions on exactly how to implement these branding strategies? The more creative the better. I'd be forever appreciative! Derek

What's the best practice for tracking broad match traffic?
We use the Pro Web App for our keyword/ranking reporting. First, am I correct in assuming that this uses exact match to report the traffic? That being the case, is there a way in Moz (beyond entering endless permutations of our targeted keywords) to track traffic we're getting out of broad match searches? For example, say we optimized for and are tracking the keyword "lambada dancing llamas" for a company called Llarry's Llamas. Let's say that Moz reports little to no traffic for that keyword, but GoogleAnalytics indicates that we've gotten traffic from "larrys dancing llamas", "dancing llamas", "llarry llamas" and so on. So, obviously we're getting broad match traffic out of the lambada llamas, just not a lot of exact match, which is all that the Moz app shows. How do other people track this kind of traffic?
