Request: Feedback on new free tool that provides social analytics for recent blog posts
-
We have created a tool that provides "at a glance social metrics" for the URLs listed in an RSS feed. Its intended purposes are:
- Monitor the social success of your recent blog posts
- Spy on the social success of your competitors' recent blog posts
- Quickly analyze a blog for social sharing metrics to determine whether it is a good outreach prospect or guest post opportunity
Check out the tool at http://www.rypmarketing.com/tools/rss-social-analyzer.php
I've attached a report run on the YouMoz RSS feed.
Would love to hear some feedback on the tool...
- Do you think the tool is useful? Nice, but not worthwhile?
- What could be done to improve it?
- What ways do you think it will be most useful?
Thanks!

Moosa, thanks so much for the feedback!
"services like sharedcount.com"
I use sharedcount.com a lot - this tool differs because you don't have to enter each blog post url manually. It's designed to give you social metrics for all recent blog posts at a glance, without copying and pasting a bunch of URLs."calculate the total social power of a blog post"
We could create a simple total of social shares, but it may be more misleading than accurate. I think to accurately calculate social power, you would need to calculate the social power of each user that shared the post. I like the idea, but am unsure whether it's practical to do that for a free, on-demand tool like this. (For example, if you examined an RSS feed that had 10 posts with an average of 500 shares each, we would have to fetch and/or calculate the power of up to 5,000 users for a single query.)"top 5 powerful keywords"
Interesting idea, thanks."data from Majestic free API"
Another interesting idea. Challenging, because in many cases the posts will only be hours or days old and Majestic and SEOmoz won't yet have crawled the pages and/or backlinks for them. But maybe could be useful. Thanks! -
Adam, you asked for a feedback so I will try to be as honest as possible so that things that are missing can be added and over all it should be improved.
I would love to call it a blog tracking tool.. the only idea that immediately comes in my mind is to look in to the competitor and see what they are up to and what audience reaction they are getting against different post in the past few weeks and months... this can help one write what is significantly hot these days... but what about the following updates?
- You give the stats of facebook share, like, tweet, SU, reddit... which you can easily and quality find from other services like sharedcount.com. Dont you think it will be great if you can come up with a formula or something that calculate the total social power of a blog post...
- If you go a little deep in to the post and pick up keywords from it... you will be able to feature the top 5 powerful keywords that the blog you are looking for is targeting...this will be a feature that most people will like.
- How about getting a data from Majestic free API and feature the top 5 links they recently get against their posts. (This is a rough idea but it can be fine tuned to make it beneficial for targeted audience and off-course for you!)
If you can include more features to it... this really can get a pickup by people in the industry! I honestly don’t see any paid value for it but as a free tool this can go good!

Blog Sharing Options
We are currently evaluating a long list of blog promotion and sharing ideas for our website and wanted to ask some of the resident experts here. We post all of our blogs on our Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ pages, but would you suggest using any of these services for an internet marketing company? What would be the main purpose to using them? StumbleUpon Technorati Digg Reddit Tumblr Delicious Any missing from the list? Is there a list of great sites to ping through WordPress? I saw they provided a list on the http://codex.wordpress.org/Update_Services page. Is this good to use? Do we need to create accounts at all of those services first? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Would you guest post on this website?
Hi, What do you think of this website for guest posting - www.forevergeek.com Now to me I would quite happily give up a guest post to this website, and the reason behind this would be... DA:63 PA:67 MR:5.6 MT:5.8 And lots of social sharing per post and to me this would be a perfect site to get some exposure on, looks ok as well. BUT the only thing which would put some doubt in my mind is the PR2, I would assume a site with DA:63 would have a PR4/5. What are your thoughts on this?

Social Media Strategy and Tactics for sensitive counselling industry
With my business I had always intended kicking social media into gear much sooner but various other pressures put this back somewhat. Counselling is quite sensitive for a variety of reasons:- We want to disassociate ourselves from the masses of non- professional folksy type "advice" that dominates the net, People, particularly in the UK often do not talk about mental health issues nor would we always want people to if they had not protected their privacy enough. Key marketing messages such as "get the first class service you deserve" (in UK people are more likely to wait 6 months to be seen by a trainee with no choice of who they see or when they see it than pay for counselling, "there are no quick fixes for mental health and counselling can make a real difference to your life if you invest time, energy and cost into it" (in a market where read this 300 word article to never feel stressed again dominates) and "what help choosing the counsellor who is best suited to you" - are not the sort of thing many people are likely to "like" or share with friends. At the moment I am looking to focus on LinkedIn (for corporate work), Facebook, Google+ and Twitter. I have a blog which is going to be producing excellent daily content including people's positive experiences of counselling, comprehensive self help tips, counsellor advice etc. On Google+ and Facebook I am looking to autopublish some of the blog posts and there are probably some other channels I will autopublish to but I do not yet know which to go for. Initially I am going to do little else on Google+ to focus time and energy developing Facebook and Twitter. I am trying to achieve the following:- Social Legitimacy - having decent number of engaged fans will make us seem more legitimate in an industry where trust is important (only 14 FB likes so far is not a good start) Engaging with Potential Content Creators - Reaching out to people who have experienced mental health issues so that this content can be used to provide peer support to others and enable them to see benefits of counselling Creating relationships with people and organisations where we can cross promote each other's initiatives, potentially co-deliver services in the future (community counselling work etc) Bring traffic to my site that will potentially convert into counselling clients in several cities in the UK through both people finding Promote my content more widely than is happening with organic search, reach different audiences, engage with potential customers, generate links to quality content I create Develop the social infrastructure to be able to leverage it for future goals, whether promoting an article, raising awareness for good mental health initiatives (that may have no financial benefit to the business but will help people) etc. Sorry this is so long but any comments, ideas, suggested tactics etc would be appreciated.

Need a good Oracle friendly CMS to host our blog
I'm trying to convince my tech dept to take our blog off of a subdomain and move it to a folder on our root domain. Understandably, they don't want to build it from scratch, so I need some good CMS tools to build the blog. Our first choice is Wordpress but it isn't compatible with Oracle. Does anybody know of any good solutions that are Oracle-friendly? Our platform is PHP.. Thanks!!
