Tool for Generating Sitemap/ URL List
-
HI,
I'm looking for a tool that'll generate a URL list for a site. I looked at this thread here http://www.seomoz.org/q/online-sitemap-generator which came up when I searched for sitemap generator.
However, I don't need a sitemap per se, and I don't need to submit it to Google - just a list of pages is what I need.If it updated automatically, that would be useful as well.
Anyone know of a tool, on or offline? Or anyone used Xenu and know if it's what I'm looking for? Or is there a simple solution that I'm missing?
Thanks.

Try DYNO Mapper. If you are looking for a tool that will generate a URL list, I think it will work really well for you. It also will give you a full content inventory that you can filter, search, and export content types. This particular Sitemap Generator is also integrated with Google Analytics and has collaboration capability for multiple users.

Just spent the last couple hours checking out Xenu. Found this article here on SEOmoz:
http://www.seomoz.org/blog/xenu-link-sleuth-more-than-just-a-broken-links-finder.
Turns out Xenu is an awesome tool - can't wait to make more use of it.
I also took Joyce's advice which was more suited to the task I was trying to do. Thanks for the simple solution!

Yes Xenu will do it, it checks all the links and then offers you a sitemap as a report at the end
I like Xenu, it's quick too

If you're using SEOMoz Pro, you can enter the domain into Open Site Explorer and then click the Top Pages tab. This will give you an exportable list of up to 10,000 pages on the site. Alternatively, you can go to Google Analytics and click Content > Top Content. This will give you an even bigger list, though you may have to filter out any attributes that Google picks up.
Xenu can also be a good option, but you still have to do a lot of filtering.
I hope that helps!

Virtual URL Google not indexing?
Dear all, We have two URLs: The main URL which is crawled both by GSC and where Moz assigns our keywords is: https://andipaeditions.com/banksy/ The second one is called a virtual url by our developpers: https://andipaeditions.com/banksy/signedandunsignedprintsforsale/ This is currently not indexed by Google. We have been linking to the second URL and I am unable to see if this is passing juice/anything on to the main one /banksy/ Is it a canonical? The /banksy/ is the one that is being picked up in serps/by Moz and worry that the two similar URLs are splitting the signal. Should I redirect from the second to the first? Thank you

URL advice
Hi & thanks for looking, I'm not sure if I've adopted the best SEO URL structure for my site, www.vintageheirloom.com For instance, www.vintageheirloom.com/product-category/authentic-designer-vintage-bags/ Works great for the top level category 'All bags', as I'm trying to keyword authentic designer vintage bags. However the sub categories for instance 'Clutch bags' appears as, www.vintageheirloom.com/product-category/authentic-designer-vintage-bags/vintage-clutch-bags/. As you can see at the moment this URL contains duplicate terms vintage & bags. I'm guessing that duplicate keywords in a url isn't too smart, but should amend with Option 1, 2, 3 or something completely different? Option 1 - keep the top level category url the same, change the subcategory: www.vintageheirloom.com/product-category/authentic-designer-vintage-bags/clutch/ Option 2 - amend the top level category: www.vintageheirloom.com/product-category/authentic-designer/vintage-clutch-bags/ Option 3 - amend the top level category as this: www.vintageheirloom.com/product-category/bags/authentic-designer-vintage-clutch/ By the way I'm using WordPress with Woocommerce. I've asked but it's not possible with some technical issues to remove the /product-category/ section. But each product is for example just: www.vintageheirloom.com/shop/vintage-coach-yellow-duffel-sac-bag/ .... sweet. Thanks again !!

Optimization for pages with lists of data
I am looking for some ideas on what best practices are for pages that contain lists similar to this page: http://www.backcountrysecrets.com/outdoor-sport/15/places-to-swim-and-swimming-holes.aspx Is it better to break up the list into seperate pages of 25 listings or keep everything on the same page?

301 redirect and then keywords in URL
Hi, Matt Cutts says that 301 redirects, including the ones on internal pages, causes the loss of a little bit of link juice. But also, I know that keywords in the URL are very important. On our site, we've got unoptimized URLs (few keywords) in the internal pages. Is it worth doing a 301 redirect in order to optimize the URLs for each main page. 301 redirects are the only way we can do it on our premade cart For example (just an example) say our main (1 of the 4) keywords for the page is "brown shoes". I'm wondering if I should redirect something like shoes.com/shoecolors.html to shoes.com/brown-shoes.html In other words, with the loss of juice would we come out ahead? In what instances would we come out ahead?
