Is there a ranking delay for highly competive Keywords?
-
Is there still a delay in ranking highly competitive keywords with commercial intent. If so how does it work exactly and how do you determine which keywords are highly competitive. Thanks
-
I think that what most people view as a "ranking delay" is actually the "barrier to entry" of a competitive niche.
For some people the ranking delay is forever because they don't have the resources needed to compete.
Entry into a highly competitive niche requires some type of resource.

If I understand you correctly about ranking delay, you mean can you shoot up directly as soon as you start trying to rank for that keyword? If that is the question, here is my answer. You can rank for a highly competitive keyword if your content is relevant and you have enough clout (pr rank, backlinks, authority). Otherwise it will take a while to establish yourself as relevant.
I agree with Andrea that the SEO moz tool is good to use to determine competitiveness of the keyword, there is also google adwords like Andrea also mentioned.

I'm not sure what you mean by ranking delay for highly competitive keywords, so I'll address the second part of your question: there's a lot of tools you can access to determine how competitive a keyword is.
SEOMoz has one you can use, it's keyword analysis tool (located in the "research tools" section of this site) is a good one.
Also, you can use Google's Adwords keyword tool to get a reading on how competitive some words are.

Does More Guest Posts Effect Website Rankings in a Negative Way?
Hello Everyone, On an average I am getting around 20 backlinks for 15 days. All these backlinks are done through proper outreach and guest posts in relevant websites. We have a team of four people doing only outreach and getting backlinks through proper guest posts. But I am worried on whether it will effect my website ranking in a negative way? Kindly get me clarified with my doubt. Should I continue this or should I reduce my numbers?

Why would backlinks trump content and keywords / DA?
While analyzing competition, I frequently see backlinks being the biggest factor at deciding rank for keywords, while content and keyword page grading can say great things, it always comes down to backlinks it seems. Even our DA is better or equal, Why would this be?

Link value from high authority domains vs low authority domains. How big is the difference?
Hi Guys. Could you send me in the direction of some quality information on link value. i.e) How much 'link juice' do you get from high authority domains vs low authority domains. Also, I understand the Moz value for DA is logarithmic, not linear. Does this also mean that a link from a site with a really high DA would be exponentially higher value than a site with a low DA. You know....like orders of magnitude better? Cheers in advance, I love you guys 😉 Isaac.

How is this site ranked so high on Google?
How on earth does "southeastasiatravelblog.com" rank No 3 on Google for "Asian travel blog"? It's just a collection of basically PR type travel articles. I have profiled its backlinks using Open Site Explorer and 71% of them are dead. The rest seem to be mostly "run of site" links from his other websites, which aren't particularly travel or Asia related. The highest PA for a live backlink to this site is a link from within his own website (PA 27, DA 15). Most of his backlink anchors are URLs and look fairly EMD to me. The site has few shares (6 FB shares, 7 FB likes, 1 Twitter share). So what makes it rank so highly for this phrase? My site I'm comparing against is "travelnasia.com" which is a fairly new domain with a DA 23, PA 31 and about the same amount of shares but far fewer backlinks at this stage because I recently changed URLs to shake off what might have been an algorithm penalty from Google. I am now receiving a growing level of Google search traffic again, but it's a long climb back. I'm looking at strategies, which is why I was checking out the site above.

How can a site with no content, non SEO optimized or any value rank better?
I understand there are many more variables to rank #1, but this site is currently #1 for one of our top keywords and I really don't understand what they Competior site barely has 200 words on any given page, very few content other than images with no ALT tags, titles, No H1 tags. in other words the website is not SEO optimized. My site has content, product descriptions, images, relevant titles, and definitely more optimized than competitor. My site VS competitor Total pages: 246 (me) vs 49 (them) Page Authority: 34 vs 26 MozRank: 5.3 vs 4.5 MozTrust: 5.7 vs 5.4 Domain Authority: 22 vs 17 External Links: 65 vs 7 Internal Links 152 vs 1 Followed Links 14 vs 5 More C-Blocks 14 vs 4 Total Social Shares: 127 vs 4

How does it take after getting links discovered by google to see increase in rankings?
Five of my friends linked to my site from their website and updated their sites through Google Webmaster tools right after linking to my site. Though the Google spider crawled the site as soon as they updated their pages, it still took about three weeks for my site to get a bump in the serps from their links. Why does it take that long for links to kick in and what is the average time it normally takes to see an increase in ranking from links once Google discovers them? Thanks mozzers! Ron
