OSE vs google webmaster link data
-
Hiya experts,
I am trying to understand the OSE. One thing I noticed is that OSE shows 12 linking root domains to our site. However, google webmasters show more than 90(that have kinks to pages on our site). And these are not new links, some of these date back to Apr 2011.
Is there something very obvious I am missing here?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Raman.

Ya you can better see where all of the links are coming from and their info, whether they are "follow" or "nofollow", more data, etc.
-
Thanks Ryan. I will give these a go as well.
Regards.

Bing Webmaster Tools is a great and often overlooked tool.Otherwise Majestic and AHREFs are both good as well.
I use all 5 tools together to create backlink reports.
-
Thanks Joe. Please pardon my ignorance, but what does " full link profile" mean? Is the the DA/PA/anchor text etc.?
-
Thanks Ryan. What other good backlink tools would you suggest beside ose?
-
I always look to Webmaster Tools for new links (they show up there before OSE), and OSE for more detailed information and full link profiles. Sometimes it takes OSE months to show your links, especially if it's a newer site.

You should not expect OSE to match Google.
Google is a company that generates ten billion in search revenue a quarter. OSE and Majestic are the two best crawlers not owned by a search engine, and neither company earns even 1% of what Google does, so their crawlers cannot compete.
With that said, Google does not share all of its data either. If you want the most comprehensive link data, it is best to use numerous backlink tools and combine the data.

All ranked pages on Googles SERP only links to home
I got a problem regarding my website called musik.dk, and hope you guys are able to help. I just got my first ranking results from Moz. My question is: All my keywords are linking to the home page, and not the artist page? For examples if I were to search on Rihanna on Google, then when musik.dk appears on the SERP, it only links to the home, and not musik.dk/rihanna.. This problem applies to all the given artists ranked on Googles SERP, it never shows the artist page itself, only links to home. Let me know if you need any information, and I gladly supply, this is kind of frustrating to me.. As a note: all pages besides the home has a PA of 1, and it doesn't really seem to change. NoFollow Links from Subdomain to root domain better than DoFollow Links?
Our service at fotograf.de is a shopsystem for professional photographers. The customers can build their own website with our tool including an onlineshop to sell their pictures. Here is my question: One part of the customers use subdomains of our site like photographers.fotograf.de. On each customer website we include a backlink to our homepage www.fotograf.de. From SEO view is it better to set these links as NoFollow Links? Or should we put one Follow Link on the starting page on each site and on the other pages only NoFollow Link? Are these links bad for our SEO regarding link diversity because they all come from one root domain? Thanks for the answers! Sebastian

More than 100 links
Hi Everyone, I was trawling through You Tube and came across this video from Matt Cuts from Google about the 100 links limit being removed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6g5hoBYlf0&feature=relmfu I then logged into my SEO account as I remember a previous report we did for a competitor where they had quite a number of pages just over the 100 links, but only barely (They are highlighted in SEOmoz as a warning). Given that google has removed this number from their guidelines and it's clear that a few over 100 isn't as bad as it used to be, is it not about time this was changed or looked at again? Maybe even put ones like these under a new title such as recommendation rather that the alarmist Warning one unless it's ridiculously high? I wonder if the SEOmoz team can also find out a better range figure for it instead of the outdated 100? Regards Alan watch?v=l6g5hoBYlf0&feature=relmfu

Difference between Webmaster and SEOMoz back-link stats?
Hi there, I just noticed that there are differences between the links to my site showing on my Google Webmaster account and what is showing on my link analysis on SEOMoz. Has anyone noticed this? In webmaster I am showing 857 links to my site from 92 different domains. In SEOMoz I am showing 816 links to my site from 53 total linking root domains and only 39 followed domains? Does anyone know why this there is a difference? Are the links showing in Webmaster all indexed and followed links? Thanks in advance 🙂 Karl

Why are inbound links not showing up?
I'm new to SEOmoz but have a question regarding inbound links that I don't see posted in the forum. In order to become more familiar with SEOmoz tools, I've been checking out sites that friends and family members have created as practice. Things have been going really smooth until I came across a 2+ year old page that should have included an inbound link from wsj.com but said link is not appearing in OSE for this page. Background: A friend of mine has a (basically) defunct blog that had a pretty well trafficked posting in 2009. However, when I use OSE to check out both the domain and page inbound links, I don't see the aforementioned inbound link from wsj.com. Why is that? Or, it's insanely late - am I missing something? Friend's blog posting: http://bcclist.com/2009/04/21/craigslist-killer-megan-philipcom-removed/ WSJ posting with a link to my friend's blog (4th paragraph...anchor text = "taken down"): http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2009/04/21/who-is-megan-mcallister/ No rush. Again, I'm doing this as practice and being new to the site, I figure I'm overlooking something. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

But remember, there is no dumb question 🙂 What are the followed vs no followed links? I understand followed links as backlinks to my site, but what is a no followed link? Thank you in advance!
