SEO Terms Defined
-
I am having a really hard time clearly defining this for folks, I am hoping for some help here.
Directory Websites: sites such as www.abcdirectory.com, these are typically lower quality manual submission websites with little user interaction
Citation Sites: These are websites with business location listing such as Manta.com or yellowpages.com and involve locations with no links but the citations are valuable to ranking
Local Search Sites: These are sites like Google Places, Yahoo Local, Yelp, etc and they sometimes offer reviews and user interaction, and are a hybrid local/social SEO component, you can create listings on these sites but if you want them to appear in search you need interaction with the page/listing.
-
I'd supply clients with a glossary so that they have a point of reference. I'd also stick with your own terminology and explanation, I think it's important otherwise you will end up having one word that is used differently across multiple clients.
What you have written explains the three just fine. If you wanted to, in the directory explanation you could expand it and say that there are primary, secondary and niche directories with different levels of benefits.
-
Clients will always confuse tactics what you have is fine
-
Sorry I thought I marked it as discussion - is there a better way to define? Sometimes these concepts are hard to explain...I get questions from clients...how many directories did you submit to to later find out they meant did you claim our listing on such and such site...

Will Huge bounce rate from social media visits affect SEO or website Ranking according to Google algorithm factors?
We have one website and have posted our blog post url in the social media sites and got almost 5k visits in 3 days’ time, with 11sec avg time on site, zero conversions and with 97% bounce rate. This in turn reduced the total conversion rate for the same month to less than 0.5%. According to google algorithm, these are factors affecting website ranking. Can anyone guide me whether which visits from social media affect our website in any case based on these Analytics factors? Please help me out on the same! Note: Blog post topic was related to latest technology update and the landing page also based in the respective topic as well.

Twitter and SEO
Hey Moz folks, I would like your input on this matter: Twitter recently made a new agreement with Google regarding the SEO & their Tweets. At the moment I have 12 different websites across 12 different markets and I`d like to know how could I use Twitter for all markets, so I can get the most out of the new deal between Twitter and Google SEO wise. If I create 12 different accounts for all my 12 websites and create tweets for all of them, it would really be a very time consuming process, but on the other hand if I only use 1 account how can I target multiple websites ? Let me know what do you think. Thanks, Andrei

Is there an SEO benefit/drawback to streaming social media to your site?
I understand how streaming social media, especially if you have a great social media community, can be effective in terms of capturing customers. However, I'm purely interested in knowing what it does for SEO. For example, does streaming social media make it look like your home page (or whatever page(s) has it) are constantly being updated? Or, does streaming g+ have a positive effect but facebook not so much? Or, does it have a negative effect for whatever reason that might be? Thanks, Ruben

Max of 3 keywords on homepage linking to internal optimized pages
Links to these pages on other pages using your keywords
XML and HTML sitemaps
Using only WWW or no-WWW version of the site, make sure this is also set in .htaccess and google webmaster tools Each optimized internal page should have this:
content is king, write for readability
max 2 keywords per page
keyword in slug or html page name
keyword density of 3-5%
keyword 2 times in title and meta description (preferably at beginning and end)
keyword in bold, italic, and underline
keyword in h1
keyword in h2-6 if possible
keyword in image alt tags
low code to text ratio
valid HTML Off-page
Link directories
article directories
social media links and likes/+1s
web 2.0 links
forum profile and signature links
pdf links (slideshare, google docs, pdfcast, scribd)
social bookmark links
blog comments on related sites
yahoo answers
edu and gove links
authority sites carry much better link juice
build backlinks to your backlinks From what I understand forum profiles and web 2.0 aren't as powerful as they used to be, is all of this correct?0 -
Facebooking and Liking - Whis is best SEO practice for Rankings
Hi everyone! , i am a rookie with SEO. I have a very specific question for which i would love to hear your opinions on this. I have a facebook fan page about my company. We try to post quality stuff in regard to the industry we are in. However, we are social people, and i have seen improvements whenever we post more "social" topics such as TGIF, Photos, DIY themes. My question is (Actually two questions) : Is there a direct correlation or metric between rankings and "likes", the size of your facebook community ? If so, which has more power or effect on rankings. Facebook Likes generated from your website , or General Likes of posts within your existing community. Hope to hear from ya! Every advice is good advice. Regards Jesus D Aceromart

Does Twitter and Facebook feeds help SEO
For a new site, I want to feed in Twitter updates and Facebook posts onto the page. I regularly update these feeds. I'm using PHP to directly integrate with the two sites API and grab the data. Is this a good idea? Will it help SEO as its fresh content? Is it a good or bad idea to have a social media feed page on the site that grabs content from these sites?

How does Social Media really Impact SEO?
It's become a common refrain that social media is critical to SEO. Taking this literally, I have been examining the impact of social media on specific pages and topical areas within my site. Specifically, I am looking at pages and content areas that we promote and link to via social media and I am seeing zero correlation to SEO success. Social media is not impacting my rankings at all. And we have a sizable social footprint. Has anyone else done this type of analysis and seen different results?
