Would Too Many Scoop.it Backlinks Hurt Our Website?
-
Hi,
We noticed in our Google Webmaster Tool that we have received a total of 10,162 links (still increasing) from Scoop.it over a period of less than 2 months from January. All these links are linking to our home page, and it is topping the list of "Who links the most" under our "Traffic > Links to Your site" in our Google Webmaster. Our second domain that links the most to us only has 1,831 links to our domain.
According to our marketing service company who posted our brief bookmark content on Scoop.it:
"That just has to do with the page structure of that site. If multiple scoop.it users promote your URL, the link will appear multiple times on each user's page. Plus, it's a curated site, so the link will be recommended to other users. Scoop.it has an Alexa of <1000 so it's a very popular site. If Facebook was fully indexed by Google (and other search engines and crawlers had full access), you'd see a similar situation.
There's currently no way to exclude specific social sites, sorry for the bad news.
The high # of links from scoop.it are totally normal (and natural for that domain), it's just because of all their internal linking. Google seems to LOVE scoop.it (60M+ pages indexed), so I wouldn't worry."
However, we still don't feel comfortable with the explanation because it appear so very unusual and clearly appear to be 'Unnatural' to us as we concern. I wonder if anyone knows if this would get us into trouble with Google? More seriously, get us deindexed due to 'Unnatural' backlinks in short period of time, from one single domain? Can anybody advise us what could we do with the current situation?
Highly appreciate your advise, and many thanks!

Hi Enam,
Guillaume here, one of the founders of Scoop.it. I of course concur with Nakul and would add that Scoop.it links are no-follow links which is also an important point.
We're also very attentive to not letting spammers or bots use the platform (you need a legit social network account or clear captcha to create a Scoop.it account). In addition to that, you (or any users) can also flag Scoop.it pages that you feel are suspicious or present unnatural activity. If they are breaching our terms of use, we will immediately take them down.
Feel free if you have any questions.

Hi Nakul, many thanks for your inputs and advice! It's a confirmation and also a peace of mind to hear how other SEO experts think on this issue!
-
Enam, I would not worriota out it. This is a natural link. Think of other social networks like twitter. If you were to tweet your link and 10,000 users retweet it, you have that many links from different pages within twitter.com
this s the nature and structure of the website, don't stress yourself about this. If this was coming from a crappy domain or spammy bloon other it would be something to worry about.
I hope this helps. Have a good weekend.

Will Huge bounce rate from social media visits affect SEO or website Ranking according to Google algorithm factors?
We have one website and have posted our blog post url in the social media sites and got almost 5k visits in 3 days’ time, with 11sec avg time on site, zero conversions and with 97% bounce rate. This in turn reduced the total conversion rate for the same month to less than 0.5%. According to google algorithm, these are factors affecting website ranking. Can anyone guide me whether which visits from social media affect our website in any case based on these Analytics factors? Please help me out on the same! Note: Blog post topic was related to latest technology update and the landing page also based in the respective topic as well.

Should you have both google authorship & publisher set up on a website?
I have read that its a good idea to have both rel=author & rel= publisher set up on a website If so What is the best way to set it up to where rel=author and rel=publisher appear in your website source code? I use wordpress genesis site and have the Yoast seo plugin **In the user profile section on WP there is an area to enter google Authorship link **In the Yoast dashboard there is a place to enter google publisher link. When I check my source code…….I see rel=publisher only on the home page, however ALL my other WordPress Pages and Posts have rel=author. Does that sound correct?

Whats more beneficial - Google+1 on your website or Your Google+ Page
Hi From an SEO perspective what is the most beneficial getting +1 of your homepage or trying to get customers to click on your actual Google+ Page - or are they linked in some way? As the importance that Google are/will place on this cannot be ignored My concerns regarding Google+ are that I believe in the UK at least, most active consumers are not on Google+ (not sure what its like in the USA) many may not even have a google account, especially of their email is with the likes of hotmail or aol. The people who are using Google+ are other companies, web pros, marketing pros etc and not your target audience in many cases

Does anyone see any merchantcircle backlinks showing up in OSE reports for themselves or their clients?
Just got around to looking for a client's link on merchantcircle and didn't see it, so I looked for some other client's links from there and they don't show up either. Am I the last one to notice this?

How do website owners gain from facebook scams like this?
I've noticed two things that are going wild on Facebook this week: http://timhortonsgiveaway.me/ and http://promoforipads.net/ In the first scenario, you supposedly just click share and they'll send you a $25 Tim Horton's gift card. (For those who don't know Tim's it is a very popular coffee shop in Canada). There's no way this is happening...they claim to have something like 5000 cards to give away. In the second one they're apparently giving away 1000 ipods. Yeah...OK. So, they're obviously scams that are just trying to get a few zillion facebook shares. But why?

How would you determine the value of a Facebook fan? Not just a Facebook referral, but an actual fan of your business or website. Is there a set of best metrics or a particular model that you suggest?
