Site penality revoked but no movement? how long?
-
its now more the 30 days since google revoked the manual link penalty and still no movement in the serps I am sitting around position 350 for something I should naturally site on the first several pages..
another thing I wanted to point out, the keyword that I'm ranking 350+ for is my domain name without the .extension ( i.e. .com )
How long should I wait, or have they forgotten to remove the penalty.
Thanks,
-
Hello ,
Yes, I resubmitted another request yesterday,
-
have you resubmitted to them asking if they are still penalizing you? A 2nd request explaining your situation can't hurt. I have seen clients do this, although they were told "there is no longer a penalty on the site". At least they communicated.
-
There must be another problem
Yes like they never removed the penalty.. IT not a competitive word and my domain is the exact word, and I end up position 350+ so nothing has been done abut the penalty..
that's my feelings..
-
How long does it take?
How long is a piece of string?
Two years and counting.
There must be another problem.

Thank you for the response..
I can assure you that the site has not been reset to its rightful position. there has been no movement either way of more then 20 positions. When you are sitting at position 350. I can assure you that the manual penalty which was applied has not been removed.. I am just thinking that perhaps they might have applied some time penalty to it in addition... hopefully due to expire soon. Not sure if that's possible.
another thing I wanted to point out, the keyword that I'm ranking 350+ for is my domain name without the .com

I've seen sites bounce back to one degree or another within a couple weeks. HOWEVER - if a site was manually penalized, and the clean-up process involved having links removed or disavowed, it's quite likely that the site now needs to re-earn rankings that had been "falsely" propped up from those links.
It's critical to understand that major hits from manual or algorithmic based updates now essentially "reset" a site to "what should have been its rightful ranking value".
While it may be a case where you'll see the site return at least somewhat, I would not count on that happening magically. Instead, I would work on building sustainable trust signals on and off-site moving forward, with consistency over time.
And even if it does begin to bounce back, I would still work on the long term sustainable effort.

Redirecting Ecommerce Site
Hi I'm working on a big site migration I'm setting up redirects for all the old categories to point to the new ones. I'm doing this based on relevancy, the categories don't match up exactly but I've tried to redirect to the most relevant alternative. Would this be the right approach?

All URLs in the site is 302 redirected to itself
Hi everyone, I have a problem with a website wherein all URLs (homepage, inner pages) are 302 redirected. This is based on Screaming Frog crawl. But the weird thing is that they are 302 redirected to themselves which doesn't make any sense. Example:

https://www.example.com.au/ is 302 redirected to https://www.example.com.au/ https://www.example.com.au/shop is 302 redirected to https://www.example.com.au/shop https://www.example.com.au/shop/dresses is 302 redirected to https://www.example.com.au/shop/dresses Have you encountered this issue? What did you do to fix it? Would be very glad to hear your responses. Cheers!0 -
How to avoid adult traffic to site?
A client of ours is increasingly getting a lot of adult traffic to their site, where they show up only for adult searches and not at all for relevant searches. How can we stop Google associating their site with adult content? Here's a blog example, giving advice to parents on girls and body image issues: https://www.commonsensemedia.org/blog/girls-and-body-image keywords driving traffic to this page are all around images for 'young nude girls' etc.

Need your thoughts on my site
Hi, This is my site: http://hemorrhoidssuccess.com/ I have got some decent natural links with a mix of different anchor texts. My main keyword is "Hemorrhoids Treatment", And i got very less exact match anchor texts. Now i was able to rank for "Top Hemorrhoid Treatment" on #2 Page, but i was not in the index for the my main keyword "Hemorrhoids Treatment". Can you review my site and let me know, what i am missing? Do i need to get more links? If so with what anchor texts? Will be waiting for your replies.. Thanks in Advance

On-site links
Hi everybody, There's a lot of information about getting sitewide backlinks, but so few about on-site optimization. Is there a maximum of links to put on a page ? Is there a maximum of link that a page should receive ? etc ... ? So, what is the optimal strategy ? And I'm only concerned about on-page and on-site link, not backlinks commming from other sites. Thanks

Interesting site migration question.
Hi all. I'm looking for some thoughts on a migrations option we have. At the moment we have two E-Com sites ranking well for some of the same terms. An older site, and a nice new site. The older site is ranking very well for category and product terms, the new one is slowly coming up. Ideally we would like to have one site, the nice new one, and get rid of the old one. If I 301 the old site url's to the new sites will that bring the new site url's into the same position as the old ones? I'm just not sure how this effects sites that are already ranking well. Any ideas are welcomed but I'm really looking for a definitive answer. It's a big decision after all.
