Https vs http sitemap
-
I have a site that does a 301 redirect from http to https
I currently have a sitemap auto submitted to google webmaster tools using the http pages. (because i didnt have https before)
should I disable that sitemap for http and create one for the https only?

shouldn't make a huge difference as long as you have one-site map (in this case) and the urls are all the same - i.e. all http or https addresses you should have no issues.
- though your last line makes me ask if you have two sitemaps, in which case ... why? and do they link to your site in one as http and the other https ? in which case yes get rid of one in favour of the url you want to use.

Personalized Content Vs. Cloaking
Hi Moz Community, I have a question about personalization of content, can we serve personalized content without being penalized for serving different content to robots vs. users? If content starts in the same initial state for all users, including crawlers, is it safe to assume there should be no impact on SEO because personalization will not happen for anyone until there is some interaction? Thanks,

Sitemap Size effect SEO
So I've noticed that the sitemap I use has a capacity of 4500 URLs, but my website is much larger. Is it worth paying for a commercial sitemap that encompasses my entire site? I also notice that of the 4500 URLs which have been submitted, only 104 are indexed. Is this normal, if not, why is the index rate so low?

HTTPS Migration & Preserving Link Equity
Hey All — I’m working with a site that is migrating to HTTPS and had a couple questions. I read Moz’s ‘SEO Tips & Tricks for HTTPS’ post but want some clarification on a couple items. Aside from using https canonicals... 1. What is the best way to preserve link equity from inbound links? Site wide 301 Redirect in .htacess? 2. What is the best way to redirect internal links from http to https? The site uses absolute internal links. THX!

DNS vs IIS redirection
I'm working on a project where a site has gone through a rebrand and is therefore also moving to a new domain name. Some pages have been merged on the new site so it's not a lift and shift job and so I'm writing up a redirect plan. Their IT dept have asked if we want redirects done by DNS redirect or IIS redirect. Which one will allow us to have redirects on a page level and not a domain level? I think IIS may be the right route but would love your thoughts on this please.

Video Sitemap Help
MOZ Helpers, Currently our clients videos are hosted on Viemo and that will not change as our client likes the creative/artist vibe and community via Viemo. That being said we need to create a video sitemap. BTW, Our site uses wordpress. When someone in house uploads a video in the future we want them to be able to enter the video title, description, and tags on the video and when they hit "update" the video and information will get added to our video site map. Wistia has this option here http://wistia.com/doc/video-seo , but like I mentioned above our client has all videos via Viemo. I found a Google XML wordpress plugin, but that said it only works for Youtube video's. The Jr. developer is not confident in creating one himself from the Google webmaster instructions and asked me to search for another solution. Check out the attached pic, that is what I am looking for. Is their a plugin or another option where we can use for easy sitemap updating and management for our Viemo videos? Thanks in advance! 301 Redirect vs Domain Alias
We have hundreds of domains which are either alternate spelling of our primary domain or close keyword names we didn't want our competitor to get before us. The primary domain is running on a dedicated Windows server running IIS6 and set to a static IP. Since it is a static IP and not using host headers any domain pointed to the static IP will immediately show the contents of the site, however the domain will be whatever was typed. Which could be the primary domain or an alias. Two concerns. First, is it possible that Google would penalize us for the alias domains or dilute our primary domain "juice"? Second, we need to properly track traffic from the alias domains. We could make unique content for those performing well and sell or let expire those that are sending no traffic. It's not my goal to use the alias domains to artificially pump up our primary domain. We have them for spelling errors and direct traffic. What is the best practice for handling one or both of these issues?
