Structured Data - Best Practice?
-
I'm currently contemplating implementing ratings on some of our products.
Using schema.org what would be the best approach if I have several languages for a product? Can I use the same review setup on these two pages?
www.spamfighter.com/SLOW-PCfighter
www.spamfighter.com/SLOW-PCfighter/Lang_ESIs it possible to do static structured data or does the rating system have to be present and possible to rate?
I noticed that Rank Tracker has a system where it's hardcoded and links to reviews.

Hi Tom
You understood it perfectly, I'm aware that some are taking advantage of this system and I'd prefer not to be targeted as one of those as Google will strike down on these down the road.
Good idea with with native reviews on specific language and a combined rating across with hreflang.
Thank you for your help it's greatly appreciated.

Thank you for that well explained and documented approach. I'll begin to see how this most effectively can be implemented.
The use of hreflang is as you say an essential part and actually hadn't given it that much thought (shame on me).
Again thank you!

Hi Philip,
I'd invite studying what a site like Booking.com does, because it can offer you the answer you are looking for.
For instance, we have the hotel Residence Michaela in Milano Marittima, and it is listed in the Italian and English version of the site:
If you, then, use the Structured Data Testing Tool by Google, then you'll see how both have the aggregate rating (you must be logged in Google to see the links here below):
Those Booking's pages of the Residence Michaela have a link to the Review pages (click on the "Good 7.3"):
The two reviews' pages work differently. The Italian one presents first the reviews in Italian, which are the big majority of them. The English one, instead, presents first the ones in English, and just after the ones in Italian or in a language different from English.
Substantially they are doing what Rank Tracker does, somehow, and what Tom Anthony suggested in his answers.
The use of hreflang in the reviews' page is essential if you are going to present the same reviews, even if ordered differently.
I hope this helps you.

Hi Philip,
I am not sure I understand this part of your question "does the rating system have to be present and possible to rate?".
You don't need to have anything on the page that enables someone to leave a rating/review in order to use structured markup on those ratings/reviews.
I would recommend using an approach combined with rel-alternate-hreflang to link the various product pages in different languages together.
My approach would be to give the star rating (marked up with http://www.schema.org/AggregateRating) gathered across all reviews for that product (in any language). Then on each different language page I'd show the reviews that are in that language (http://www.schema.org/Review).
I have never handled this exact situation, but that feels like the right way to approach it. What do others think?

What is the best SEO friendly way to combine two websites.
I have two websites, eg: widgets.com - sells expensive widgets as gifts everydaywidgets.com - sells cheap widgets for everyday use. I would like to combine them both under the widgets.com domain name, because its easier to run the SEO campaign for one rather than two. But i still want two different product collections, and two different sites. widgets.com is by far the larger of the two sites so my current thought is to have that the main landing site, and have a button at the top to take the user to widgets.com/everydaywidgets where they have a similar but different site, and different products. I can set this all up no problem with the correct 301 redirects from everydaywidgets.com, but is it SEO friendly? Does anyone know of a real world example of a business doing this? Cheers

Is my content strategy focusing on the best vertical?
Help Mozzers! I've been struggling to find a solid content and posting (social media) strategy. This particular client has an ecommerce website within the home and garden industry. Her products include: screen magnets window hangers outdoor metal art switchplates (outlet covers) The recent content I've been posting is DIY related home decor ideas. I would love some ideas on niches or verticals I can tap into. The audience is female dominant, ages 35-65+. I'm wondering if I should stay within home decor and trying to work the products in, or there is another vertical my mind is blanking over. Thanks for the help Mozzers!

Best Place for Reviews in 2014
Honest, genuine & unedited customer reviews are something that I'm going to focus on for multiple companies that I work for in 2014. My question is where is the best place to push my customers to leave reviews for the company? On the company's website? Google+? Google Local? Bing? Yahoo? Yelp? Facebook? Obviously the answer is all of the above, but if you had to rank the top 3 places to get reviews that would help the company's SEO rankings & online visibility, what would your top 3 be?

Best way to structure a new company blog with multiple existing individual country sites?
Hi, we have a client who have multiple business websites .co.nz, .com.au, .co.uk, .com which all have unique content intending to rank in each country. These sites are on a CMS that has a blog function capability. Should we set up the blog on one of these country sites then link to other sites when appropriate? OR Is it best to set up a new blog on something like Wordpress (or what?) that takes all blog posts from all countries and then links out to the relevant sites when appropriate. So the new blog becomes the content hub and creates its own Google power to then pass when appropriate to the various country sites? Any suggestions welcome especially from people who are currently doing either of these methods, and have experienced the results both positive and negative of the different approaches. NB: there will be about 20 staff creating a blog post on a topic relevant to them per month each once blog is live.

Best to have separate private and the business twitter accounts?
Just starting to use twitter and can see its potential but I have a personal account, one my holiday letting business and one for my CCTV installation business. Obviously the problem is I have to login to each account separately and post relevant tweets. I like the idea that people following because they're interested in the subject but the downside obviously is that I have to split my time and my total followers across three accounts. What do you do with your twitter presence focus on one account or have separate accounts?
