Data Overload! So . . . ..Confused . . .. !

Just when I think I'm starting to get it . . . info comes in that blows my mind.
I'm using several tools at SeoMoz and others trying to keep track of my link building success, which has been largely me registering at related industries bulletin boards and forums and posting as well as making sure we are listed properly in any and all sites listing companies in our industry etc.
I have to say I was a little frustrated with the results. I had seen SOME increase in the back links, but almost no move in the number of linking domains.
NOW I just logged into googles webmaster tools . . . and their data says I have more than DOUBLE the number of linking domains as any other sites are suggesting.
What's going on here? I can understand slight discrepancies due to when they crawl the data etc . .. but 22 linking domains compared to 9-10 from everyone else? What the heck?

SEOmoz and Google Webmaster Tools use different sources for their data. I believe EGOL meant to look at the trends over time for each metric compared to itself. Don't compare GWT to SEOmoz, compare GWT in one month to GWT in the next month, and SEOmoz in one month to SEOmoz in the next month.
Open Site Explorer updates about once a month, so it does have a lag time in showing your updates, and it only crawls about the top 1/4 of the web, so its numbers will differ from GWT.

I'm not sure I understand your question. I'm using SEOmoz for a bunch of data and had the conflicting data from google webmaster tools.

Great... you are looking for trends over time. Where do they tally that for you?

actually, that answer was very helpful! I can't help but to obsess over the numbers a little bit because I'm so new at this, the website was just relaunched, and I'm thrilled with every piece of data that shows I am accomplishing SOMETHING.
Your advice about using apples and apples comparisons from one metric to another is very helpful.

Analytics Data Messed Up
I have a website that gives very unatural data in Analytics. First for some reason my paid search traffic and organic traffic seems to be pretty much the same. If I pause my adwords ads my organic traffic go down if I start them it goes up. Anyone else had this problem before?

Two of Four Google Analytics Views Not Showing Data
Question for you MOZ friends: We added two new views about a week ago, the same views that we have added for more than 50 Accounts, and they are not showing any data. The views are for 'Filtered Traffic' (no IPs or spam) and 'Organic Only' including only the organic medium. Any ideas why this may not be working? Delays in Search Console Data
We are seeing big delays in search console data this month. In the past we have seen delays of a few days, but I have never noticed it being this long before. At the moment we have no data since 23rd February. Have I just never noticed this before or is this particularly long? Is anyone else seeing the same thing?

Splitting Google analytics data
Hi Everyone I'm not sure if this can be done but thought i would ask anyway. One of our clients has a website which is a 3 tiered website, basically this means different access levels for different users depending on their ip address. The split is as follows (business 1, business 2 and the general public all see different things and areas within the website) Now what we are wanting to do is essentially split our analytics data for each of the 3 different users on the site, Can this be done through Google analytics? Thanks in advance. ps If im not clear enough let me know and ill try clear it up

Webmaster Tools vs. Google Trends data doesn't add up
I am investigating a two-month 25% drop in organic traffic from Google to a client's site. When I turned to the Webmaster Tools data for the site, there is a clear, gradual drop over the course of a couple months both in impressions and clicks. In general, the drop occurred across many pages and for a large number of queries; there wasn't a core group of keywords or pages that saw the drop...it was more sitewide. Yet, the average rankings reported by WMT were, for the top 100 or so landing pages, not significantly different. The site hosts information about medical conditions, and I wouldn't expect any time-related variations in search volume, and this was confirmed by looking at Google Trends data for a number of the top keywords. I started to look at the data by query for all the top keywords (all ranked in the top 10), and saw the following general trend: impressions were down, rankings stayed in the top 10, and Google Trends showed either flat or rising volumes. So I am trying to make sense of that. If the search volume trend did not decline and rankings held inside the top 10, then how could the number of impressions drop significantly? Am I trusting the WMT data too much? But the reality is that the volume of traffic measured by Google Analytics from Google organic did indeed drop the way Webmaster Tools show it.

Bing Webmaster Tools data discrepency on traffic
Hi, For a given time period in Bing Webmaster Tools it says that combined clicks from Bing and Yahoo organic search are about 4,700 total, for the same time period in Google Analytics, combining sessions for Bing and Yahoo Organic comes out to about 8,900 total. Has anyone else experienced this discrepancy? Is this common? How can I get 8900 visits from 4700 clicks?

When one of my sites returns a ranking that consistently reads "No Data", what does that say about the site?
I am getting "No Data" reads for some of my sites - I personally think it has to do with the site's construction - especially the landing page... I inherited this site to do SEO - it was not created with on site SEO in mind - please help if you can sites are: www.storagesanangelo.com www.storagemidland.com Should I get webmaster to remove the big map graphic and add text and pics instead...
