Content Curation & Newsjacking
-
Greetings everyone! Its my first post, and I had a question in regards to content curation & newsjacking. I tried to dig around the forum a bit prior to posting this, but havent really found much that covered this topic specifically, but I was wondering if there is anyone here who currently does this, and if so, are there any tips that you'd be willing to share with someone who's just getting into it?
Thanks

To be successful at newsjacking you need one of two things....
A) a powerful site that can toss second-rate content high into the SERPs
B) a brilliant mind that can come up with fantastic perspectives that everyone who reads them will want to share
"B" is the better path if you can do it because it enables you to build a following.
If you have either of those you might be more successful at specializing in the type of content that really interests you and that you can plan for rather than getting up everyday like a hungry vulture who has to find something in the news to scavange.
Now, if you are like Jay Leno and have a great team of writers and a great ability to present, then maybe you can do a really good job at newsjacking.
There is no substitute for hard work, resources and talent.

New website content before or after new webdesign launch?
Hi, We are planning a full website redesign and rewriting the content of the key pages. The new contents will be ready sooner than the new website, what is the better solution? 1. Replace the content of the old site with the new (better) contents

Duplicate content on the same site
We have a client who wants us to use the same piece of copy twice on their website. Once to promote a workshop and once to promote a conference talk. We feel this would be bad practice from a user perspective, but we were wondering how search engines would regard this? Thanks Ian

Looking for a content marketing agency alternative to Brafton.
We've worked with Brafton for a while now and aren't happy with their service. So we're looking for an alternative content marketing agency not a digital marketing agency. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Should I put the date on a new content page to show users when it was written or updated?
I've been asked this question at work and not certain of the answer. Personally if I see an 'old' date in a meta description on Google I often scan for more recent articles. In other words it can act as a deterrent. We are a very big social networking site with a large content section. For some of our content the date might be relevant, such as legal information, but often it isn't. Are there any SEO factors in dating content?

Blogger - Multiple partial duplicate content and canonical
In Blogger, have at least three pages produced for each post - main post, archive and tag - each has their own canonical tag - are these considered duplicate content by Google? Not sure the best way to handle this.

Duplicat Website Content? (UK, Ireland)
Hi, My website is based in Ireland on a .ie domain & now I would like to enter the UK market on a .co.uk Is it ok for me to duplicate my .ie website and provide all the information on a .co.uk OR is this considered duplicate content in terms of Google. (I'm led to believe that your own content on my domain's is not considered duplicate & this is only considered duplicate content when you go from .com to .ie, .co.uk etc). (all content, images, branding are my own).

Best way to avoid duplicate content issues here.
I am planning to write an article that refutes some claims made in another article. The original article is a 20 page pdf. What I plan to do is to take quotes from this PDF and then under each quote write my arguments for or against the quote. If I take direct quotes from the article, is Google likely to see this as duplicate content?
