How to put structured data on your site?
-
HI All,
I Would like to know your views on structured data on your site. What are the qualities and point that should keep in mind when we talking about the "structured data on your site".
how we can apply structured data.
How we use data highlighter for the website which don't have any events.
your thoughts please.
thanks -
If you have a blog, you can use structured data, if you are selling movies you can use structured data. It has several uses and you should read each structured data type (schema.org, microformats, microdata, RDFs) to see which one you can use.
Personally I use microdata on my blog to give the author data a structure using "Person", the post date, etc.
I would go first with Schema.org, as you are just starting: http://www.schema.org/

Hi Federico,
These links are helpful and already had read it. But thanks for these useful links.
so we can say that the structured data and the data highlighter shouldn't use for the websites which have any product selling, discount offers, few special things on the website, a information that may be very useful for others.
Is there any tools that will help to make a website highlight on the search engines. I already follow all points that should be on the website.
Thanks Again....

Google has great resourced to help you started with structured data.
Your first read should be this: http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2650907
Once you do the implementation, you can test it using their testing tool: http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets
Data Highlighter is a structure created for events. If you don't have any events, then you shouldn't use data highlighter. More info on Data Highlighter here: http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2692911&topic=2692946&ctx=topic
Hope that helps!

Referral Exclusion List - Data Questsion
This may seem like a silly question. Since we are having an issue with self-referrals, we checked all the pages and everything is tagged properly, I used the referral exclusion list to exclude our domains. Question is, since we had a large number of our revenue coming in from the self-referring traffic, what happens to that revenue data once I add our domains to the referral exclusion list?

No Data in Custom Report set to 'Hit' Scope
Hi Guys, Been having a problem recently with a custom report I have set up... I want to find out number of sessions, bounce rate, session duration etc for different dimensions on my site - store area, store name, product type etc but I cannot seem to get the data to filter through to the report I have set up when 'Session' scope is selected. If I set it to 'hit' then I do get the data but this will only record the first instance of a dimension being triggered (from what I can gather) rather than all dimensions that might be triggered during a complete session. Has anyone experienced similar problems? Thanks, Dan

Google Webmaster Tools is showing wrong data - help?
Hey all, I'm seeing some weird problems with Webmaster Tools. Specifically: We've submitted a sitemap with 174k URLs. According to the WMT dashboard, only 21 are indexed, though if you search our site via site:sitename.com blah blah, there are thousands of pages returned. Why is WMT only showing 21 indexed pages? Yet if I go to Health -> Index Status, it's showing nearly 199k URLs indexed. This seems consistent with searching Google site:sitename.com blah blah. Under "Search Queries", it's showing "no data available". Not sure why as it's linked to the proper Google Analytics account, which has keyword data. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong here? Thanks.

What kind of data storage and processing is needed
Hi, So after reading a few posts here I have realised it a big deal to crawl the web and index all the links. For that I appreciate seomoz.org's efforts . I was wondering what kind of infrastructure they might need to get this done ? cheers, Vishal

Sort referring sites by visit change over time comparison in GA
I can't believe I've never done this before, so I'm going to assume that I previously must have figured it out via excel, but I'm hoping there's an easier way. So I want to compare the referring sites between April and May and see which have sent (specifically) less traffic. The problem with doing a comparison in GA is that it only sorts by the highest traffic for May, when actually I want to see the largest negative change (by number, not percentage) between April and May. Is there a way to do this via the dashboard or am I just going to have to play about in excel for 10 minutes?

Site: Query Question
Hi All, Question around the site: query you can execute on Google for example. Now I know it has lots of inaccuracies, but I like to keep a high level sight of it over time. I was using it to also try and get a high level view of how many product pages were indexed vs. the total number of pages. What is interesting is when I do a site: query for say www.newark.com I get ~748,000 results returned. When I do a query for www.newark.com "/dp/" I get ~845,000 results returned. Either I am doing something stupid or these numbers are completely backwards? Any thoughts? Thanks, Ben
