Back links not being found

I am working on optimizing a client site that was launched in January of 2011.
A number of back links are starting to show up when I do a competitive link analysis, however in Google WMT the only IBLs that are showing up are from the non-www of the domain, even though I have a 301 redirect from danwilson.ca to www.danwilson.ca (and has since the site launched).
I also have verified the non-www version with WMT and declared the perfered domain as www.danwilson.ca.
Any ideas why the non-www domain links are being shown as inbound links by Google WMT rather than internal links. This likely means the site is getting dinged for duplicate content...

Lots of WMT data is worthless. Like previous poster, I am still seeing backlinks from a couple of years ago, as well as completely off total backlink count. You're much better of using OSE.

Webmaster Tools takes years to update. It's data is more or less worthless for how out of date it is. I still have crawl errors last detected over 2 years ago that are not errors anymore. Still coming up. There was also a known bug recently with the inbound links, so that could be affecting things.
Either way, don't put too much credence in it, no one knows how often these figures are ever updated so Google is likely way ahead of what they are telling you in WMT.

Advetorial links
How do you scientifically value advertorial links. I have a site who is willing to buy advertorial in large online sites which will contain links. (I would prefer they invested in content on their own site). The DA on these sites is universally extremely strong. the PA of the examples I've seen is pretty low. The site has strong DA matching it's main competition and is performing pretty well in terms of ranking. Question: how do you value this kind of link in terms of the amount of £ the publications want to charge. Anybody have a formula or a logical process which would provide solid advice rather than don't infringe Google's T&C's which I've already mentioned to them. Any thoughts appreciated.

I think that we as webmasters have to ask ourselves what do we want to achieve with link building. To get quick traffic or build slow authority links, high rankings, lead generation, sales & other things here I may be missing etcccc Other Objective Networking & Relationship Building Alliances : What I discovered today is that building links for 1st page rankings are great and will provide me with steady traffic, but not all of it is targeted traffic, but what else can I do to bring targeted traffic and at the same time try to build alliances with other related non competing business owners online. The idea... is to apply old school networking / relationship building alliances to get targeted traffic to my site that can actually benefit from my services. How Do We Achieve This I become a editor for approving resource links for me site, only the best will be placed on my site as a resource. Build a valuable tightly themed categorized resource section with related non competing resources that can help my sites visitors find what they are looking for, send visitors to non competing resources that may purchase their services which helps me build a relationship with them, and may can with rankings as well, provided I am selective with my qualification process. I 'am using a seo component (sh404sef) for a joomla website, for the time being, any internal linking is organized. I've been said the sitelinkx is not advised (a component dedicated to build internal links) with sh404sef... How could i manage to set it up fastly ? Tks a lot..
