Duplicate Content
-
My website is hosted by Hubspot. With each blog I write I can tag them to be listed in a specific category. As an example, one blog article my have three tags or categories that it fits in. Seomoz is seeing this as a duplication of content. in other words, if you go to the different category pages the same article would be listed on all three pages, even though it is just one article. However, I only have 36 duplicate content warnings and I have 150 blog articles, each having 2 or 3 tags (categories.), so there should be many more than 36 duplications.
Is this something that affects my seo, or should I just ignore the problem and check these warnings as fixed?
Thanks,
Ron -
For the most part, tags in blog only have value in that they group together posts on similar topics. You should try to stay away from giving any post a one-off tag where they wind up being the only post ever to sit on that tag archive page. Because your site shows full articles instead of snippets, a blog post and any one-off tag archive page it appears on would be duplicates of each other. Other tag archives with varied posts would not be straight duplicates of any specific post. Normally people NoIndex their tag archives to avoid duplicate content issues.

It's more of a warning than a real problem, but it is possible that search engines will see the pages and consider them duplicate content. It's possible that one of those pages won't be indexed.
I've come across this problem before writing for my own blog. I was writing some tips for Apache and .htaccess and found that every post I wrote was tagged to both categories, so the category pages were being flagged as duplicate content. I remedied this by consciously writing a post that only fit into one category, and the warning was removed from my Moz campaign report.

Is one page with long content better than multiple pages with shorter content?
(Note, the site links are from a sandbox site and has very low DA or PA) If you look at this page, you will see at the bottom a lengthy article detailing all of the properties of the product categories in the links above. http://www.aspensecurityfasteners.com/Screws-s/432.htm My question is, is there more SEO value in having the one long article in the general product category page, or in breaking up the content and moving the sub-topics as content to the more specific sub-category pages? e.g. http://www.aspensecurityfasteners.com/Screws-Button-Head-Socket-s/1579.htm

Duplicate content issue
I'm getting duplicate content warnings from Moz for various slideshows on my posts and pages in Wordpress. It seems when I create a slideshow it exists as its own page and as these have no text Moz sees them as duplicates. Here are some examples - http://www.weddingphotojournalist.co.uk/?gallery_page=slideshow&pp_gallery_id=1331991312

Are there any tools to give a value STRICTLY for Quantity of Content on your website?
I am trying to put a value to all the work I do and want to put a very specific value to the number of pages of unique content I have. I know everyone says its about quality, and sure it is but quantity is still a factor and looked at. (Can't argue with if you prefer 100 semi-optimized pages versus 1 optimized page- and is unfair for a tool to rate the website the 1 optimized page higher) I use a ton of tools but yet to find something that puts a value on quantity of CONTENT ONLY (Please don't respond with PA or DA because that encompasses all the inherit value)

Competitor Ranks Highly Despite LOTS of Duplication
One of my Moz campaigns tracks my main competitor. I can't get over the fact that this competitor continues to rank well despite having thousands of duplication issues while I currently have less than 10. Our websites are similar both structurally and product-wise. The two images attached include OSE comparisons for the keyword "kraft envelopes". My competitor ranks #2 for the term, while I rank #9. I don't get why! And again, looking from a top-level perspective, MOZ shows that my competitor's website is full of duplication issues and other problems while my site is healthy as a horse. All responses are greatly appreciated. QmSlfET.jpg 9CDny60.jpg

Duplicate Page Title - although there are differences
Hello, I get duplicate page titles errors on pages in which there are little differences. For example: C++ Online Test for Seniors C# Online Test for Seniors I assume that from some reason the ++ and the # are removed when SEOMoz crawler checks for duplicate page titles. As you may know C# and C++ means two different programming languages. Should I do something about it or is it a bug in the crawler?

Advice for 4000+ duplicate errors on 1st check
Hi, 1st time use of the SEOMOZ scan has thrown up a lot of duplicate errors. Seems to look like my site has a .com.au/ & .com.au/default for the same pages. We had the domain on a hosted cms solution & have now migrated to magento. We duplicated the pages, but had to redirect all of the old url's to he new magento structure. This was done via a developer adding a 301 wildcard code to the .htaccess. Would that many errors be normal for a 1st scan? Where should I look for someone to fix them? Thanks

Duplicate content error?
I am getting a duplicate content error for the following pages: http://www.bluelinkerp.com/products/accounting/index.asp http://www.bluelinkerp.com/products/accounting/ But, of course, the 2nd link is just an automatic redirect to the index file, is it not? Why is it thinking it is a different URL? See image. NJfxA.png
