I must be doing something very wrong

Can I get some direct advice for a domain I am trying to optimize?
The domain is mmfiles.com , it contains software submitted by users, 1500 different listings/pages with title/description, around 20 000 Google results for the domain, site is live since Dec 2008.
Problem
I am getting 20-40 hits from Google per day, it is pathetic. Best days were around June 2010, ~400 hits/day (if it matters).
I am not sure what my problem is but with so much content and so little hits I must be doing something very wrong.
Some possible problems and things I did:
- Google says I have 8 back links, that is not good but I know it's not all about links.
- SeoMoz says I have "too many on page links", can this be so important ?
- How should I redirect users landing on an url that moved? e.g software title can change, old location /12/photo-gallery/ is now /12/xml-photo-gallery/ , if user lands on old URL should I 301 redirect to new one? Because I can tell it's intention by the listing number. I used to 301 redirect, now I just display same content on any url string like /12/whatever/
- I put rel="nofollow" on some internal pages like contact page, login, register, etc hoping to prevent diluting the page rank.
If someone can have a look at the site and mention the most obvious seo problems it would be great.

It looks like most of the content on your site is duplicate content. That's your biggest problem. Google doesn't like duplicate content, so if you want to rank, you're going to have to create content that is unique to your site.
Reducing the number of links you have on the page can help, and will probably be a better user experience. No use overwhelming the user or confusing the search spiders with tons of links.
Finally, do not nofollow your internal pages. This will not preserve page rank, it only results in link juice evaporation.

Wrong image shown to represent brand in mobile search
The image I’ve attached is a screenshot of what shows up on mobile when I do a branded search for one of my clients. We have a Youtube video on the homepage featuring Harry Connick Jr. The video is directly under the hero image on the homepage, and the thumbnail for the video is the image that Google is pulling into the SERP. I don’t want this image in the SERPs. I’ve marked up the logo with schema but that doesn’t seem to be helping. Is there any other schema markup I can use to remedy this? Wrong Page Ranking?!?
I did some research today, one of our keywords is "mobile column lifts." I recently redid a page on our website to target this keyword. When I Google search this keyword I see that a page on our site titled "Reconditioned Mobile Lifts" is ranking for this keyword. I took a look with Moz, our mobile column lifts page ranks 90 for the keyword, and the reconditioned lifts page ranks 73 the keyword. Why is this happening? What I am Doing Wrong with My Rank
Hi, I am doing something wrong but I don't understand what is the issue. The rank of my website for a particular keyword is by far lower than one of my competitors (they are in top 20 while I am not even in top 50 in google). I did all fixes recommended by MOZ, I have higher number of backlinks (natural built), relatively similar social media activities, bigger content but still I'm far away. Google Displaying wrong URL but correct page title and description in SERPS
Hi. Our second highest performing page on Google is messed up in the SERPS. This is our login page. It always ranks high. It still does, but the URL is incorrect. Google is referencing an old redirect that was for a one off campaign from January 2014. This page has long been redirected. But now the vanity url for this page is what is displayed in Google. The link goes to our login page but once you log in it redirects you to a page saying the offer has expired instead of your account details. This is a huge issue for us. Can anyone shed some light? I'm having a rel canonical added since this page is used for a lot of vanity deeplinks.

IIS 7.5 - Duplicate Content and Totally Wrong robot.txt
Well here goes! My very first post to SEOmoz. I have two clients that are hosted by the same hosting company. Both sites have major duplicate content issues and appear to have no internal links. I have checked this both here with our awesome SEOmoz Tools and with the IIS SEO Tool Kit. After much waiting I have heard back from the hosting company and they say that they have "implemented redirects in IIS7.5 to avoid duplicate content" based on the following article: http://blog.whitesites.com/How-to-setup-301-Redirects-in-IIS-7-for-good-SEO__634569104292703828_blog.htm. Next issue, both clients (as well as other sites hosted by this company) have a robot.txt file that is not their own. It appears that they have taken one client's robot.txt file and used it as a template for other client sites. I could be wrong but I believe this is causing the internal links to not be indexed. There is also a site map, again not for each client, but rather for the client that the original robot.txt file was created for. Again any input on this would be great. I have asked that the files just be deleted but that has not occurred yet. Sorry for the messy post...I'm at the hospital waiting to pick up my bro and could be called to get him any minute. Got a new improved dedicated server but something is not right
Hi, i have bought a new and improved dedicated server but something is not right. The first two days it was fast, but now i am having trouble doing tests on it using http://gtmetrix.com http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/tOBLrm0fR/www.in2town.co.uk gtmetrix is having trouble accessing the site and when it does it comes up with 14 seconds and more. here are the results http://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.in2town.co.uk/NqOj98OV everytime i contact the hosting company about it they say it is running fast and they do not see a problem but refuse to look at the history of this tool. can anyone please let me know if my computer could be causing these problems or is it my hosting company that is at fault. my site is www.in2town.co.uk

Is robots.txt a must-have for 150 page well-structured site?
By looking in my logs I see dozens of 404 errors each day from different bots trying to load robots.txt. I have a small site (150 pages) with clean navigation that allows the bots to index the whole site (which they are doing). There are no secret areas I don't want the bots to find (the secret areas are behind a Login so the bots won't see them). I have used rel=nofollow for internal links that point to my Login page. Is there any reason to include a generic robots.txt file that contains "user-agent: *"? I have a minor reason: to stop getting 404 errors and clean up my error logs so I can find other issues that may exist. But I'm wondering if not having a robots.txt file is the same as some default blank file (or 1-line file giving all bots all access)?
