Impact of rogue keyword in content

I have a page that is optimised - title, URL, content etc for the chosen keywords.
However, within the content are some batches of bullet point text that has repeated text throughout. So for example I have 5 instances of my chosen keyword within the content and 24 instances of the two word text within the bullet points. Does this kind of scenario have any impact on ranking?

If you have a landing page other than your homepage ranking for a term for which most of the competitors' results are their homepages, then I'd say your page is quite well zeroed in. Be sure to analyze and document specifically what you're doing on that page before making changes so you can go back to it if necessary. At this point, it's probably authority that's that's going to push you higher in the rankings. Even one or two links to that landing page from good resources will pay high dividends for you.

This is what made me question. Competitors are typically returning their homepage so the content is in a different format to this internal page and don't have the rogue keyword.
My gut feeling is to try to reduce the rogue and increase slightly the desired keyword in the content. I might be able to create a key CP = Credit Points and use that just populating CP. I don't have any big problems with ranking and need to get some links going but i'm interested in this specific aspect so I can put it to bed.

Do you feel your rankings are being held down because of this?
Your title tag will go a long way in pointing google to your primary keyword, as will the remaining copy on your page. If title and the general vocabulary of your copy is primarily focused around your keywords you're probably in good shape. If those repeated terms you're talking about are so integral to the description of the product that you can't avoid using them, then it must also be true for your competitors--how do they handle it?

Hi, can you tell us what would be the word count on the page in discussion? If my page has 200 words, then having a term occuring 24 times is definitely blown out of the roof and is blatant keyword stuffing. I hope you got the point here. So the same term occuring 24 times in the content of a page that has 2000 words in it mitigates the issue especially if the term is somehow related to the topic being covered on the page. Moreover, a term having way more KD (compared to the target term) on a page which is not being optimized for is something that makes me worried though the term is not used in title, description, URL, H1 etc.
I strongly feel, staying focussed (while covering some of the tightly related terms) is extremely important especially when writing content with an SEO intent. Scattered focus and having multiple unrelated keywords with substantial repetition in the content can harm as its confusing for the search engines trying to rank your page against your target term.

I don't think that is what i'm after.
I'm looking for the impact of a rogue keyword that is just within the content and is very popular, but not the keyword i'm optimising for within the content and tagging. The rogue keyword is out of context as a bona fide keyword itself but is required and works well in the content.
I'm not too worried about keyword density but is there a point when a keyword phrase breaches a certain % even though it is not used within any tagging.
So if my keyword is 'blue elephant' but within the text I have a disproportionate amount of 'credit points' would it be prudent to try and reduce the level of 'credit points' - or ignore as there should be no impact?

it's really good way to make Unique title for users. as you said bullet point text has repeated with keywords. it can impact in CTR (click through Rate) if your ranking in top 10 listing . unique value always good users experience . just recently i go through Nathan_Safran post he has described very good numeric value about headline i would like to suggest you . hopefully you will get more ideas about unique Headline .

Suggestions on dealing with duplicate content?
What are the best ways to protect / deal with duplicate content? I've added an example scenario, Nike Trainer model 1 – has an overview page that also links to a sub-page about cushioning, one about Gore-Tex and one about breathability. Nike Trainer model 2,3,4,5 – have an overview page that also links to sub-pages page about cushioning , Gore-Tex and breathability. In each of the sub-pages the URL is a child of the parent so a distinct page from each other e.g. /nike-trainer/model-1/gore-tex /nike-trainer/model-2/gore-tex. There is some differences in material composition, some different images and of course the product name is referred multiple times. This makes the page in the region of 80% unique. Any suggestions welcome about the above example or any other ways you guys know of dealing with duplicate content.

Keyword Stuffing unintentionally
I have a situation and would love some options. We have a site where we sell a product and lets cal it dog collars. The home page will not rank for its main term. Renetly the site was redesigned and the Url structure was re-optimized so that it was not so complex. However, we have 500 products and a dozen categories which all include dog collars as keyword. The products are all dog collar singular or collars plural in the url. So lets say ".com/red-dog-collar" and ".com/blue-dog-collar" then ".com/large-dog-collar" and the categoreies like "classic-dog-collars" and etc. So its very hard to not put the word dog collar into every single product because thats what it is. Whats hapening is that the menu is linking to each of these categories and the home page is linking to a dozen or more products which all include the word dog collar or dog collars in the URL. The actual text/content is a good ration. But the source code as stated above shows the main term 150 times. Not exact, but phrase match for those adwords gurus out there. Thus the page does not rank for its terms and instead google is choosing another internal pages which is relevant. Atleast i think thats why the page does not rank for its term, which it once ranked very high against some major competitors. How on earth do i fix this without removing products and tags and all these links from the home page? Or should i not worry about this and find another reason why this page is not ranking for the term it should be ranking for. The backlink profile is not over optmized by the way. Either is internal anchor text links. Thank you

How to increase SERP for long tail keywords?
Let me describe my situation. I currently run an e-commerce site that aggregates items across various e-commerce website. I am focusing my SEO on the long tail keywords such that when user searches for 'hermes birkin bag croco black' and other specific item search, then the page that I have on my site pops up. What are some tips on increasing this kind of stuff in a general sense such that I don't have to go through all of my 10,000 items that I have in my site and optimize each and every page for keywords. Right now what I am thinking is to increase the domain authority of the overall site. Any other tips?

Meta Keywords, Should I just remove them?
howdy guys, I am helping my father out with his SEO for his company. I am taking over the SEO helm so to speak and have to do a complete on site make over( offsite as well eventually soon) He has on every page meta keywords that are just stuffed with "money keywords" and they are the same on every page, Should i just delete them entirely and leave that attribute blank? Duplicate content
Hi everybody, I am thrown into a SEO project of a website with a duplicate content problem because of a version with and a version without 'www' . The strange thing is that the version with www. has got more than 10 times more Backlings but is not in the organic index. Here are my questions: 1. User experience regarding dulpicate content and managing this content with google.
Hi long title i know! We are moving on to magento and have chosen to allocate a specific colour to each category using corresponding tabbed navigation for user experience.All products within each of the coloured tabs then inherit the repective colour, giving the products a category identiy within the store. This layout has had a positive feedback from our "testers" As a lot of our products are seasonal and can be represented in different categories there is a significant amount of duplicate content. ATM i see our options as being: Alter the site structure so that the category is not shown in the url, therefore eliminating our duplicate products. The downside of this is that the colour co-ordination of the categories would not work at product level as its the category path that assigns the colour. create canonical links for every duplicate, can this be damaging? keep the duplicates and do nothing let google decide the most important version of a product. any guidance would be appreciated!
