Facebook Mentions...are they worth the effort to get as back links?
-
I'm currently focusing on link building for one of the websites I work on. In reviewing past customers, I see quite a few that do not have a blog, but do have social media pages like Facebook, for their business.
I'm wondering if it's worth the effort to get them to "mention" the website with a link and brief comment from their Facebook page.
Thanks for any/all input.

Definitely.
Studies show a strong correlation between facebook activity and web traffic.
Any time you can get positive exposure for a website, it's a good thing. A facebook page offers an opportunity for others to learn about the business. That page is their personal PR zone. You want to take every chance you can to educate visitors about your business.
You can only do a limited amount with a facebook page, so get them over to your website where you have complete control over the environment, offer better details and earn sales.

Using sitewide links to improve link profile?
Hi Guys... When I look at my competitor's link profile, they often have thousands of backlinks. For example, one of our main competitor, he got 3,400 backlinks in total but only 80 referring domains. When I look at my link profile, I have around 50-60 referring domains, but hardly 80 backlinks. My question is, is it okay to get a few sitewide links (no-follow of course!) to get to the thousands backlinks? Or I will be able to achieve top rankings with my current link profile? Thanks!!

Mentions without links
Just curious, is there any SEO value if another site/blog mentions my site but doesn't create a hyperlink. My site happens to have a lot of amateur bloggers who write "we used TVFoodMaps for our trip" but don't actually link to my site. I'm wondering if that does anything for my SEO value and should I contact them and ask for the reference to be turned into a link? Thoughts?

How do websites get links here...
Does anyone know how people get into the "Top Links on This Topic" section of the Huffington Post? I can see that the "Around the Web" section is curated by someone, in this case "Jeff Muskus" but there is no indication how the Top Links on This Topic appear on a page. The only thing I noticed is that the original article appearing in HP is almost a year older than any of the referenced links. How often does Google crawls old pages, is it worth to get links from them ?
Let's say there's a blog post in my industry niche that's 2 years old. Is it worth to get a link from that blog post ? How do I know Google will actually re-crawl that page, and how long can that process take ?

Looking at Page Authority of a link to our website... what Page Authority number should we use in deciding the link is junk?
What are the Page Authority ranges? 1. Excellent link 2. Moderate 3. Total junk link Of course you look at the anchor text you can use, how many links are on the site, how often it is cached. Thoughts?
