Google Play rankings?
-
Hi everyone,
I've spent the last hour or two googling information on Google Play app rankings, and a few websites mention that standard pagerank of the app page is taken into account when calculating rankings.
This seems to make sense, though I'd estimate it's probably not a large factor, with daily downloads being a much higher factor IMO.
So my question is, how much of a factor does standard link-building for a Google Play app webpage have in the rankings?.
We're trying to increase exposure of an app we've built (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.onedirection), and though we seem to have more downloads, reviews and +1's than others, we seem to be ranking beneath them.
Thanks,
Chris.

Thanks for raising this question Chris! I would also wanted to know this, as the competition of the apps in Play is much high.
I guess, number of referrals/traffic to a particular app page may also count. but not sure. Lets wait for any positive proven record/answer.

Hi Chris
Before I begin: this is undoubtedly a moral dilemma for me - whether or not to help someone who is intending to bring more One Direction into the world.
With that said (partly in jest!) one factor that I think is missing from your list is retention - how many downloads vs how many installs. The better this ratio is, the better the play store algorithm will deem the app and thus it will promote it in the rankings. There's not much you can do to control this, however, other than making a quality app of course.
Freshness is also a factor - newer apps will get some preference and I imagine in a 1D category, newer apps might pop up virtually every day. So this could be impacting you.
Other than that, your standard SEO ranking factors I imagine would have some effect. On-page optimisation and inbound links passing PageRank will more than likely boost the ranking - but how much I'm afraid I can't say.
Everything else, ratings/downloads/reviews etc - you have covered. All I would suggest is maybe to look at some analytics tools. App Annie comes with a number of tools that provide you with the metrics for the top ranking apps by category. What I'd suggest is to look at the metrics, look for any patterns, and then throw in traditional SEO reports such as the on-page optimisation tool in Moz Pro/Analytics and any inbound links via OpenSiteExplorer.
Hope this helps. I hope you find that "One Thing" to help you rank higher.

Makeoverfor our Facebook page titles! question about open graph and Google
Hello, We have two Facebook pages for our company, one in English and one in Arabic. A few weeks ago we wanted to change the Facebook page titles but this option was not allowed for both pages. Now Facebook is giving us an option to change the title for both pages: We had a lengthy discussion regarding the best way to name our Facebook pages. Currently our Facebook pages titles are: For the one in English: "X" ( X - our brand name in English*) For the page in Arabic: "X - Arabic" ( X- our brand name in English*) We agreed to change the title for the page in English to: X - (The main 3 keywords in our brand's field in English) ( X - our brand name in English).* for the Arabic page we suggested to change the title to: X - (The main 3 keywords in our company field in Arabic)** ( X - our brand name in English).* **** We will translate the main 3 keywords to Arabic** We have a few questions: - How does the search work in Facebook? Does the open graph algorithm take into account the page's content and/or its title and description? - Is there any preferred way to name the Facebook pages? We were debating using the company's slogans versus the main keywords for our brand. ? Or should the title contain just the brand name? - What components of the Facebook page title and URL affect our page's visibility in Google for a search on our brand name? It's important to mention that Google currently does not show the Arabic page in the 1st page in Google. Thank you in advance for your help!

Difference between Google+ Followers and Website +1's?
Very sorry if this has been covered multiple times already… I can't find the answer anywhere… This is a basic question: Is there a difference between someone giving my website a +1 and being counted as a follower on my Google+ page? I run a website and a Google+ page for my brand, and these two things are linked. When someone clicks on the +1 button on my site, does that show up in the count that someone sees in the red box in the upper right corner of my Google+ page? And, when someone comes to my Google+ page and adds me to a circle, is that the same as them clicking the +1 button on my site? Or are these two entirely different things? I feel like the terms are used interchangeably, but I'm not sure if it's because they really are two different things, or if they're really the same.I ask because, when I look at my company's Google+ page, it says "+300" in the upper right, but when I see my website come up in an AdWords ad, it says "[Company Name] has 240 followers on Google+"... Why are these numbers not the same?Thank you!Scott

SEO difference between having a Google+ Brand and Google+ Business page?
Functionally the Google+ Brand and Business pages seem to be exactly the same, but does having one or the other have an effect on SEO? Is it better to have both?

Google+ What account to use for business?
Ok, we have been pretty dismissive of Google+ but having read more and more about how it is now directly influencing search results (currently in the USA) we are going to suggest setting up accounts for business. The question is, which Google Account should be used for the business page? In the nice presentational video on Google+ the example business is a nice local bike shop, which is simple right? Just use the small business owners account. But what about larger clients? Who in the org should have the business page on their account? What if that individual leaves? Can the page be separated from that account? Should you use maybe a Google Apps for Business account? But the issue with that is you will obviously have no one in any circles to share that page with. It all seems to be too closely tied to the personal side of Google+ Any help would be great. Thanks.

Find Facebook Likes and Google +1's Across An Entire Domain?
Does anyone know a good way to find the number of Facebook Likes or Google +1's across an entire domain? It looks like SEOMoz only shows these metrics for individual pages.

Google Plus 1 button appearance
Has anyone had issues with the creative control google is maintaining with the Plus 1 button. I have a client who is very strict on their design structure and wants to make the google button appear in style with their theme. Has anyone encountered this or knows a moderately easy solution besides hacking away? THanks!
