Open Site Explorer Problems
-
I've been checking open site explorer for months now. It doesn't show any changes in the number of root domain links to any of my pages, even though webmaster tools shows a substantial increase in root domain links for each of these urls. Open Site Explorer doesn't seem to be updating. According to Moz, my site is regularly indexed by Moz. But the numbers don't change. I've tested this on a few other sites as well with the same results. How do I get OSE to update the numbers for a particular website?

From my experience, there is always a big discrepancy between OSE and WMT.
First, make sure that when you use the OSE, you aren't viewing only follow links or links that have equity. WMT displays all links, regardless of their type.
Next, you might want to check out the "Just Discovered" section of OSE. Even though it is in beta, it should let you know if it is finding any more links at all, as opposed to new domains.
If you are sure that OSE is not finding new links, verify that the links listed in WMT actually do exist and it isn't a problem with WMT.
If they do, and it is a problem with OSE, then I don't know what the problem is. You should consider contacting Moz directly instead of asking on the Q&A.

Hi there!
I'm so sorry for the inconvenience! We had a bit of trouble with our last Mozscape Index—where OSE gets its information—and decided not to release it. As a result, it's been somewhat longer than usual since the last refresh. As of today, the problem should be solved, and the numbers should be up-to-date.
You can learn more about the issue at the Mozscape blog, here:

Can Moz Keyword Explorer help target keywords for Google Images results?
I'm wondering if I can use Keyword Explorer (or maybe another tool?) to target keywords for image rankings. I'd like to play around with optimizing images so that they appear in search results and thus provide traffic - but wasn't sure the best way to track that kind of progress. My ultimate goal is to analyze the difficulty of ranking for a certain keyword via Google images. (I do know to optimize alt tag/title tag/place in relevant article etc, but wanted to know if I could research the difficulty). Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Is MOZ any good to analyze an e-commerce site? How come that a cms page can be seen as duplicate content with a category page?
Hi Guys, I've been using Moz for quite a long time now for 2 of my shops. Now I am in the process of launching the second shop and I just don't understand how is it possible that a cms static page (About US) to be seen as a duplicate content with other 96 pages - including product pages and other totally different pages such as delivery information, category pages, returns and so on. Really MOZ?? Is it me or you?? Your help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Does Organic CTR from Keyword Explorer show percentage of 1st position clicks? If not, how to calculate?
I have two questions about the Organic CTR number from the Moz Keyword Explorer tool. I have read through the description here, but it is not very clear on what I need to know: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/community/q/what-is-a-good-keyword-opportunity-score Does it calculate the percent of searchers that are likely to click on ANY of links from page one of the traditional organic search results? Or does it calculate the percent of searchers that are likely to click on the NUMBER 1 position of the traditional organic search results? I suspect the answer will be that it calculates the percentage of clicks for any of the traditional organic search results from page one. Which leads me to question two... I'm trying to calculate the estimated search traffic from each keyword if there was a number 1 ranking. And if the Organic CTR shows the percentage of clicks going to any of the traditional organic search results I need to add a modifier to my formula which will calculate how many clicks the number 1 ranking receives. So I think the formula would will look something like this: Monthly website traffic from keyword = monthly search traffic * Organic CTR * Number 1 Position CTR. In this case, what would I use for the "Number 1 Position CTR" modifier?

In the Moz Site Crawl, what does "External Links" mean?
I thought I knew what it meant but am finding instances where the value in the column, "Linking Root Domains" is greater than the value in the column, "External Links?" Thanks!

Is there any way to automatically filter negative keywords out of Keyword Explorer results?
I use Keyword Explorer a LOT for fleshing out new campaigns. However, the results I get frequently contain queries with words that are in my negative keyword lists. Today, I solve this with export and some Excel wizardry but keep thinking how convenient it would be if there was a way to provide a list upfront of negative keywords and get pre-scrubbed results. Does this exist? If not, how can I escalate this as a feature request? 🙂

Keyword Explorer Stuck
Is anyone else experiencing troubles with Keyword Explorer? We have several keyword lists and they keep getting frozen on "Gathering Metrics" for days, even if we had results for those particular keywords previously. Just curious to know if this is a pervasive problem and if there's some kind of an easy fix.

Combined Countries in Keyword Explorer
Is there a way to view "all countries" in Keyword Explorer? I like being able to segment by country, when I need to, but I don't like having to pull multiple reports to get a combined view. It's more work and it eats up the number of queries I'm allowed to make per month.

I'm checking keyword difficulty for two different sites. Would love to view the results by site instead of just one large list. Is that possible? Or would it just be easier to keep the lists separate in Excel and just import when I want an updated report?
I have keyword lists for two sites. Is there a way to label them in the keyword difficulty tool (List A, List B) so I can just view results for a particular site? Or do I need to run the report with List A, export results, delete those keywords, then run the report for List B?
