Alec,
The first thing that you need to do is take a deep breath and understand that you are not the only person this has happened to.
I would suggest the following steps:
- Review WebMaster Tools and see if you have gotten any kind of link warning from Google.
- You might also want to do a backlink analysis of not just yourself but your competitors as well. Have they done something recently to pass your website?
- You said a lot of "Russian links" are killing your website. Are these on Russian domains? If so, you can try to contact the WebMasters of these sites and see what you can do. If you want you could also use Google's Disavow tool.
- While you're doing all of this, I would also suggest double downing on social media. Reach out to your customers and engage them.
- You might also want to refocus on content creation, especially content that is sharable. If you can get new leads through things other than organic it might be what you want to do. Maybe a good email campaign?
Those are some early thoughts, but the most important thing you can do is remain calm. Starting a new website is a possibility, but I'd suggest doing the research and trying to focus on your initial customer base before you do anything.

Over the past year lots of sites are being hit by Panda, Penguin and Unnatural Link Penalties. There are also many other reasons that traffic can tank.
Moz member MarieHaynes has a website that summarizes these common traffic loss problems and a quiz that can help you diagnose.

Word mentioned twice in URL? Bad for SEO?
Is a URL like the one below going to hurt SEO for this page? /healthcare-solutions/healthcare-identity-solutions/laboratory-management.html I like the match the URL and H1s as close as possible but in this case it looks a bit funky. /healthcare-solutions/healthcare-identity-solutions/laboratory-management.html

Is it better to use XXX.com or XXX.com/index.html as canonical page
Is it better to use 301 redirects or canonical page? I suspect canonical is easier. The question is, which is the best canonical page, YYY.com or YYY.com/indexhtml? I assume YYY.com, since there will be many other pages such as YYY.com/info.html, YYY.com/services.html, etc.

SEO for sub domains
I've recently started to work on a website that has been previously targeting sub domain pages on its site for its SEO and has some ok rankings. To better explain, let me give an example...A site is called domainname.com. And has subdomains that they are targeted for seo (i.e. pageone.domainname.com, pagetwo.domainname.com, pagethree.domianname.com). The site is going through a site re-development and can reorganise its pages to another URL. What would be best way to approach this situation for SEO? Ideally, I'm tempted to recommend that new targeted pages be created - domainname.com/pageone, domainname.com/pagetwo, domainname.com/pagethree, etc - and to perform a 301 redirect from the old pages. Does a subdomain page structure (e.g. pageone.domainname.com) have any negative effects on SEO? Also, is there a good way to track rankings? I find that a lot of rank checkers don't pick up subdomains. Any tips on the best approach to take here would be appreciated. Hope I've made sense!

Why does my site rank so badly
its my turn to ask the interminable question why does my site rank so badly? site is: marriagerecords.org.uk. it was #1 for 'marriage records' on google for about 6 months. then it was 5th to 10th for about 2 months. now it is nowhere for this phrase and anything else, none of the pages I have written rank for anything. I have spent hours upon hours researching original content and I have got some great backlinks from sites like wrexham.gov.uk and somerset.gov.uk (some dont show in opensiteexplorer yet). im guessing im over-optimizing something but i'd love some concrete fixes if anyone could suggest any. thanks, tom

Best SEO strategy for a site that has been down
Because of hosting problems we're trying to work out, our domain was down all weekend, and we have lost all of our rankings. Doe anyone have any experience with this kind of thing in terms of how long it takes to figure out where you stand once you have the site back up? what the best SEO strategy is for immediately addressing this problem? Besides just plugging away at getting links like normal, is there anything specific we should do right away when the site goes back up? Resubmit a site map, etc? Thanks!
