404 even after Successful 301 Redirection
-
Hi,
I've got quite few 404 error links on my site and I manually redirected all of them one by one with 301. They are redirecting successfully. But when I check my MOZ analysis, it still shows me as 404 error. I've done this about 4 days ago and MOZ crawled to my site couple times after that if it's not everyday.
Do you know what the issue could be? And how can I fix it?
PS: I've used Wordpress Redirection tool for it first and redirection did not work. Then I had to install the Simple 301 Redirects plugin to get it done.

Yes, try looking at the server response. Screaming Frog will tell you this.

Have you tried looking at the headers response you get when accessing those pages? Try with http://web-sniffer.net/ to verify that your site is actually responding with a 301.
Anyway, I think Mozbot AKA Roger, scrapes sites once a week, so if you made the changes only 4 days ago, I would hold for a few more days.

Crawlers reporting upper case letter url versions although these have been 301'd to lower case !?
Hi I have a client e-com site who's dev platform is on a windows server Their product pages have been auto-named after the product title, with the first letter in each word being upper case, which has hence translated to the URL having upper cases instances too. I asked them to set up 301 redirects for all url's that had upper case instances to lower case versions, which they say they have done. However I'm still seeing url's with upper case instances showing up in webmaster tools and moz crawl reports but when I copy & paste them into a browser they do redirect to, & resolve in, the lower case version. Its also upper case versions reported in the Google cache! So how come webmaster tools & Moz etc are reporting the upper case versions, surely if redirected it should be the lower case versions All Best Dan

DA as a measure of link-building success/failure?
Hi all 😃 What would be a good way to track weather a website is doing good or bad in regards to link-building in google's eyes? Is the Domain Authority the best credential? If a website is penalized for link-building schemes, would it reflect on the Domain Authority shown in Moz Analytics? What other Moz score would reflect this scenario? Best regards & Thank you for your help. Carlos

301 or canonical for multiple homepage versions?
I used 301 redirects to point several versions of the homepage to www.site.com. i was just rereading moz's beginners guide to seo, and it uses that scenario as an example for rel canonical, not 301 redirects. Which is better? My understanding is that 301s remove all doubt of getting links to the wrong version and diluting link equity.

Temporary Redirect Notice regarding Wordpress
Hello, Under the warnings in Moz, we have 44 temporary redirect warnings showing up because we moved our blog from timelinkblogs.wordpress.org to our subdomain blog.timelink.org within Wordpress. Wordpress indicates that these were permanent 301 redirects, but Moz is indicating that they are temporary. We want to be sure that they are permanent so we retain the SEO credit. Can someone please confirm that these are permanent redirects i.e. http://blog.timelink.com/2012/02/17/true-stories-time-and-attendance-pay-rules-2 Moz is showing the following- it has a "trackback" added to the URL? http://blog.timelink.com/2012/02/17/true-stories-time-and-attendance-pay-rules-2/trackback/ Thanks!

Why is moz saying I have a 404 error?
I recently asked a question on here about how to fix my 404 error. I figured it out, and now webmaster tools says it's not there any more. This as been confirmed by keeping watch for about a week now. But Moz just crawled my site today and is for some reason showing an error. Am i missing something here or is Moz a little slow sometimes?

SEOmoz gives me a report of 404 errors on my site. Do they give a way to know from what link on what page produces the error?

Can I see backlinks to a specific URL, not including redirects?
Does SEOMoz have a tool that allows me to see backlinks to a specific URL sans redirected URLs? So, URL is www.website.com/search. www.website.com redirects to www.website.com/search and I want to see how many people have linked to the /search, the resulting URL. Thanks for any help! Erin
