Where is Schema, Twitter cards and OpenGraph code need?
-
Hello, I've adding OpenGraph, Twitter cards and Google's Schema code to my website to help these services pick the correct information about my website. I'm doing this as per the Moz SEO cheatsheet.
Does these rich snippets need to be on the index page only, or should they appear on every page?
-
Hi Adrian,
You want OG tags and Twitter card tags to be specific to each page on your site. For instance, pagea.html's tags should relate to that page's content and pageb.html's tags should contain information related to pageb.html's content.
On Schema, that is going to be specific to the content...so if you've got a review on your home page and the same review is on a second page, then the same Schema markup might be contained on the home page and on the second page.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you need more clarification.
Thanks,
Matthew

Product Schema Markup for All Products
Hi Team, Google search console used to allow you to use their structured data markup helperhttps://www.google.com/webmasters/markup-helper/u/0/ to markup multiple product pages at once that were similar. I do not see this feature anymore with the new search console. Does anyone have a recommendation for marking up multiple product pages without having to have schema markup firing in GTM for each product page?

I need help with redirecting chain to another page and 301, I don't understand on how to fix
Redirect Chain <label>What it is:</label> Your page is redirecting to a page that is redirecting to a page that is redirecting to a page... and so on. Learn more about redirection best practices. <label>Why it's an issue:</label> Every redirect hop loses link equity and offers a poor user experience, which will negatively impact your rankings. <label>How to fix it:</label> Chiaryn says: “Redirect chains are often caused when multiple redirect rules pile up, such as redirecting a 'www' to non-www URL or a non-secure page to a secure/https: page. Look for any recurring chains that could be rewritten as a single rule. Be particularly careful with 301/302 chains in any combination, as the 302 in the mix could disrupt the ability of the 301 to pass link equity.” This is not helping me I don't understand about the 301 do I use the www.jasperartisanjewelry.com or the /jasperartisanjewelry.com I'm confused

Schema.org markup for breadcrumbs: does it finally work?
Hi, TL;DR: Does https://schema.org/BreadcrumbList work? It's been some time since I last implemented schema.org markup for breadcrumbs. Back then the situation was that google explicitly discouraged the use of the schema.org markup for breadcrumbs. In my experience it had been pretty hit or miss - sometimes it worked without issues; sometimes it did not work without obvious reason. Consequently, I ditched it for the data-vocabulary.org markup which did not give me any issues. However, I prefer using schema.org and currently a new site is being designed for a client. Thus, I'd like to use schema.org markup for the breadcrumb - but of course only if it works now. Google has dropped the previous warning/discouragements and by now lists a schema.org code https://developers.google.com/structured-data/breadcrumbs based on the new-ish https://schema.org/BreadcrumbList. Has anybody here used this markup on a site (preferably more than one) and can confirm whether or not it is reliably working and showing the breadcrumb trail / site hierarchy in the SERP? Thanks for your answers! Nico

Schema markup
Hi, I'd love to use schema markup, but I don't think there is one for the type of products we sell (mortgages). Does anyone know of a way of using schema markup for a page like this: https://www.turnkeymortgages.co.uk/mortgage/mortgage-rates/ The regulator for mortgages (FCA) in the UK has rules about how products are displayed, we have to show all the information in the table (see the link), and the compliance text (your home will be repossessed....) with every product. This is why I haven't tried to 'cobble' something together from the existing markup available - I can't fall foul of the regulator (or be misleading to customers). Anyone have any thoughts on this? Or, should I just wait until Schema come up with a markup suitable for such products.

Rankings have fallen suddenly - I need a plan of attack.
I started my business a few years ago. Only recently (6 month) I started to get some good traffic and sales. At first I was ranking pretty well 3-5 for my main keywords and business began to pick up. After Penguin I was hit hard and I'm placing 10-17'ish. My Google local/places has disappeared too. I haven't received any contact from Google about unnatural links (but I'm not sure where that would appear? Email? Web Master Tools? Horses head on my pillow?). I've read so many different things online about what I 'could' do. I'm not sure where to start. I've checked and I know we've created lots of questionable back links. Using the Open Site Explorer lots of the backlinks don't have terrible DA but some do. I guess I was hoping someone would give me a checklist or priority list of things to do. It's just me so I need to use my time as best I can. What should I be doing first? Should I be trying to: Remove my bad backlinks? Spend my time making quality backlinks. On-page issues that I can't see? Telling google i'm sorry via web master tools. Changing to new domain (eek) I'm very time poor and hoped the seoMoz community might save me from wasting my time. www.bringyourownlaptop.com.au Keywords: indesign training, web design courses & photoshop courses Thank you in advance. How long after google crawl do you need 301 redirects
We have just added 301's when we moved our site. Google has done a crawl & spat back a few errors. How long do I need to keep those 301's in place? I may need to change some. Thanks

Need advice on having customer stores running on my subdomain
We have an online store product and we're working on the SEO for our new domain (foo.com in this example.) Our customers have the ability to change the domain of their store but many of them will likely stick with the subdomains we give them (store1.foo.com) We could potentially have thousands of stores soon using our subdomain. Each of these stores will have a very small link at the bottom to our own domain but other than this, the content is completely user-generated and not under our control. Are there risks/problems associated with this type of strategy? If so, could we perhaps avoid them by using robots.txt to block entire site until they change to their own domain? TIA, Sean

Schema.org : reviewCount & ratingValue - best practices for implementation?
I'd like to add our merchant review count and rating to our site and use the schema.org markup to indicate to the search engines what these are. The reason I'd like to do this is so that the star rating pulls through to the organic listing. Check out this example from several UK tight sites. Notice how the organic listings display the star rating... My questions are: Has anyone seen an example of this from Google.com (US site) I heard that you should only add this markup to the homepape - but couldn't find any Google documentation to back this up. Do you know if this can be applied throughout the site w/o penalty? Thanks everyone!
