Authorship Implementation - Is it needed to place Rel='Publisher' on every page on eCommerce
-
Hi,
On my eCommerce site I've placed rel='publisher' only on the homepage and rel='author' on all of the article pages. Is that the way to do it?
Do I need to add rel='publisher' also on the article pages besides for rel='author'?
P.S
Even though I placed rel='publisher' only on the homepage, when I use Google's test tool (http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets) I see my publisher ID also on product category pages (that don't have publisher nor author on them but do have regular +1 buttons). How is that? (bacuase of the +1 button) -
Hi Christy,
Sorry for the delayed follow-up.
I did play with it a bit and I do agree (and appreciate) with all responses but I think I can add something...
It seems that the basic fact of having a "G Follow" on every page already covers the rel=publisher part and the Google Structured Data Tool @Adam here recommended does show my company as the publisher even though I did not specifically add rel="publisher" (simply because of the Follow button).
This is also why I don't know if I need it along rel="author" since I have the "Follow" button on all pages but I assume that you are correct and the two are not needed together.
Thanks

Hi there! Did we answer your question?

Hi there, thanks for your question! Rel=Publisher is for brands, while Rel=Authorship is for people. As the code snippet fork Rel=Publisher should only be placed not the most important page of your site, placing it on the home page is a good choice. As the markup tool is verifying your Publisher setup, I'm assuming you have correctly placed a link on your Google+ brand page back to your site's homepage. Well done.
Yes, the Rel=Authorship code snippet should be placed on all article pages and blog posts --- that have a byline for a particular author, that is. You then need to establish a link from that particular author's individual Google+ profile back to your site. There are a few ways to go about this. Here's one method, straight from the mouth of Google: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/2539557?hl=en&ref_topic=2371375. Best of luck!

AS Alberto says you are pretty much correct in your implementation however I just want to check a couple of things.
If you are looking to get authorship set up you do not really need to set up rel=publisher so lets leave that part for a moment. If you want the homepage to have authorship simply put rel=author on the homepage linking to the correct Google Plus account. I assume you have done this part.
The next part is to go to the Google Plus account and make sure that on your profile you have added your eCommerce site in the "Contribute to" section. This creates the link and will start the authorship markup and it should appear in SERPs.
If you want to double check that authorship is working correctly then use the Google Structured Data testing tool here and enter your sites URL. This will let you know.
Hope this helps.

Hello,
You can add both to all pages, for now rel = publisher is not much, and may the rel = author you benefit something to enrich your snippets.
However as you say you have now is the right way, an ecommerce has no author but firm, like behind an article post yes there is an author who writes, usually a person, not a company .
Remember that Google is in the testing phase for both author and publisher.
Greetings.

Is this mistake in use of 'publisher' meta tag
Hi There!, There is a confusion with 'Publisher' meta tag. Instead of using 'Google+ page' we have used Google profile pages in meta 'publisher' tag on most of pages. Currently they all are indexed. Also, in 'Author' meta tag same Google Profile page is linked. E.g. - on page - https://www.sitegeek.com/arvixe , following are the publisher and author tags: <a href="https://plus.google.com/117949772080676863960" rel="<a class="attribute-value">publisher</a>">a> <a href="https://plus.google.com/u/0/102179677098786549874/about" rel="<a class="attribute-value">author</a>"> So I am not sure how much it would effect SEO rankings. Please suggest what would the best way to update it? Further, site has its Google+ page: [https://plus.google.com/+Sitegeekcom/posts ] so it should be updated in 'publisher' tag or we should create a new Google+ page using existing Author Google+ profile. Improve facebook page interaction
https://www.facebook.com/TheHiddenTriforce I have this page which used to get great feedback and interaction. As we have grown the interaction has dropped. Facebook has implemented their ridiculous policy of not sending content out as they should which is part of the issue. Anyways, I am looking for general feedback as to how I can boost this page's engagement. I am not going to pay to boost my posts to my already existing fans. So please provide other options.

Should rel=publisher tags (pointing out at Google+ Business page) only go on the homepage?
Hello, I've just read... “Publisher tags should only go on the most significant page of your site, usually the homepage.” Is this correct?

Visits in Campaigns report exceed pageviews in Pages report in Google Analytics
We tag our links in social media posts with the source (i.e. Facebook), medium (Post) and campaign (i.e. kids funny sayings). We often see in our Campaigns report that the number of visits generated by a Facebook post exceeds the number of pageviews for that linked to page in the Pages report Has anyone else had this experience and why does it happen? Or am I missing something really obvious or doing something wrong in which case, please please enlighten me!

Why isn't open graph working for this URL?
When I post this URL (http://goo.gl/iDMsJq) to my Facebook page, the image is small, and it isn't pulling the correct description. I checked FB object debugger, and it looks fine - so why isn't it working properly when I post to Facebook? https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.healthline.com%2Fhealth-slideshow%2Fquit-smoking-timeline

Best strategy for Multilanguage Google+ Business Page(s) & rel publisher
Hello! I have many troubles defining a clear Google + strategy. Let's say I have one brand, say "reallycoolbarcelona" (because Barcelona is really cool!), 1 google place in Barcelona, and many websites with local ccTLD to promote the brand in different countries: reallycoolbarcelona.fr, reallycoolbarcelona.es, reallycoolbarcelona.co.uk, reallycoolbarcelona.it, reallycoolbarcelona.de. 1/ Now, how to handle that in Google+?

==> Shall I create one single page for all languages in Google+? (But then I cannot transfer Google Place to Google Local +?)
Then I would put the rel publisher of this page on all my websites? ==> Or shall I create one Google + page per language?
Then I would put the rel publisher of each language page on the corresponding website based on the language (french Google + page publisher on the french website only)? 2/ Now how did you manage to create a +SEOMoz page in Google+? By that, I mean a page with a clean url plus.google.com/+SEOMoz (that's so cool!) and not the scary url https://plus.google.com/b/1234567890 Thanks for enlighting my blurred mind about Google + multilingual strategies!0 -
