Webmaster tools - a drop in Views and Searches
-
Hi everybody
I'm experience a very odd thing in Webmaster Tools (and Google Analytics). 4. March I can se a drop of views from about 2000 views a day to 250 views a day and the days thereafter they views are close to zero. Also some of the search term looks weird after this and is terms like w www.youtube.com, youtube musicas and youtube i put a spell on you, placing them in SERP in top 10 and refering to our /Youtube site (which is a blank site with no content).
5. March we got some new content on our site regarding danish flyers, and even though Webmaster Tools shows that our views are close to zero, Google Analytics shows an increase of trafic to our site from search terms from about 150 visits 4. March to about 600 visits 16. March. So what Webmaster Tools shows about views do not make any sense to me and especially not why we would rank on the term Youtube. I have also searched on some of these Youtube search terms and I can't see us ranking in SERP on these terms in top 10, but in Google Analytics I can see that we have got visits on these Youtube search terms.
The domain we are using is an old domain that hosted an e-mail and chat site and I am a bit worried about the external links to our site. But the external links that Webmaster Tools and Open Site Explorer shows I don't see as bad links and the site has not had anything to do with Youtube clips. Our site is a https site - I don't know if that could have anything to do with it?
So I'm really puzled about why Webmaster tools says our Views have dropped to zero, why Google Analytics says there is an increase of trafic from search to our site and what Youtube search terms have to do with our site?

Hi Maja,
Thanks for your question. It can be hard to diagnose without looking at the site in question (the links you provided to Webmaster Tools won't work for anyone not given access to the account) so I'm shooting in the dark a little.
Gut feeling says that this is a technical problem. Did you make any technical changes to your website around those dates?
A few other suggestions:
-
I'd suggest going back and double checking your code for Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools code to make sure they are working correctly. You can use a Chrome plugin such as Google Tag Assistant to do this.
-
Check the hostname in your Google Analytics report to see if any other domains (not your own) are showing up in your reports. This can happen sometimes if someone has started using your Google Analytics code and your data can get very messed up.
Here is a more in-depth article which may help you:
-
Use tools such as Spyonweb and Nerdydata to search for your Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools code snippets to see if other sites may be using them.
-
Narrow down the problem by adding in landing pages to your Google Webmaster Tools report. This report allows you to see which landing pages people are landing on and may help to de-bug the problem a little bit more.
I hope that helps!
Paddy

.fr Site Not Indexed in Search Console
Hey everyone, I am just now learning international SEO, and so appreciate any and all help! 1. I added supershuttle.fr to Search Console about a week ago and it still has 0 indexed pages. It is showing that pages were indexed in the sitemap, and when I check, there are 75 results in Google. Is this something I should be concerned with? Is there a setting that I'm not aware of in Search Console that I need to change? 2. Also, I read the below regarding the automatically translated pages. Would https://en.supershuttle.fr/ be considered an "automatically translated" page? Use robots.txt to block search engines from crawling automatically translated pages on your site. Automated translations don’t always make sense and could be viewed as spam. More importantly, a poor or artificial-sounding translation can harm your site’s perception

Google Analytics & Webmaster Tools Filtering
I've just set up a client who uses internationalization on Google Webmaster tools and Google Analytics. For easier management they opted to use subfolders rather than subdomains or cctlds. So I set up a Google Analytic Property, with one Unfiltered profile, and another 3 profiles filtered per language. With the main language English being exclude anything starting /fr/ /de/ as it resides on root. The filters seem to work fine; however after linking this to the Google Webmaster Account to be able to access Search Engine Optimization I do not seem to get any language filtered data. I was wondering if someone had any idea or possible solution to this problem. As I would expect to at least have the Landing Pages if not exactly the keywords filtered by the same criteria that the rest of the data is being filtered. I know there's also an option to create a separate webmaster tools account, however this way I still cannot filter just the English; and I cannot link it to all the separate profiles.

Google adwords keyword tool - Can anyone recommend a free service that is similar?
Hi everyone, As many of you know the Google keyword tool is going away unless you have an active campaign. Can anyone recommend a tool that is similar and free? We do international SEO so it is really important for me to get keyword suggestions in several languages. Thanks Carla

Local search listings for Global Company
hi, I work for a company that has offices in several countries world wide. At the moment we only have one website. As we are an online business ranking in local search is not a huge issue. However, I'd like to know more about the probability of each office being listed globally in local without having a site representing each office.

Spanglish? Picking keywords for an English website with a Spanish speaking search demographic
I'm putting together meta data for an English website whose target search demographic is the Hispanic market. The website has a Spanish translation as well. When I entered the website into the Google Adwords keyword tool to begin doing keyword research, all keywords returned to me were in Spanish. I am unsure if the meta data keywords I'm preparing for the page should be in Spanish despite the fact that I am preparing the meta data for the English version. Moreover, should there be any mixed Spanish English (Spanglish?) keywords as users might be searching under the English search but in Spanish or with queries that are partially in Spanish?

Sub Domains in WM Tools
Hi Mozzers, Does anyone know if you can set a specified territory for a sub domain in WM Tools? I know you can do it at domain level but can you do it for a sub folder such as US.example.com or UK.example.com I can't see it anywhere in the interface? Thanks

How can I view Google.com SERPs from outside the US?
If I go to Google.com I get redirected back to Google.co.uk and search results have a UK bias. I'm trying to research the US market and have a hazy recolection of Rand demonstrating how you can add a few characters to the google.co.uk url to see US results - just can't remember what video I saw it in. Any ideas? Thanks a lot

Google Webmaster Tools - International SEO Geo-Targeting site with Worldwide rankings
I have a client who already has rankings in the US & internationally. The site is broken down like this: url.com (main site with USA & International Rankings) url.com/de url.com/de-english url.com/ng url.com/au url.com/ch url.com/ch-french url.com/etc Each folder has it's own sitmap & relative content for it's respective country. I am reading in google webmaster tools > site config > settings, the option under 'Learn More': "If you don't want your site associated with any location, select Unlisted." If I want to keep my client's international rankings the way it currently is on url.com, do NOT geo target to United States? So I select unlisted, right? Would I use geo targeting on the url.com/de, url.com/de-english, url.com/ng, url.com/au and so on?
