Do more page links work against a Google SEO ranking when there is only 1 url that other sites will link to?

Say I have a coupon site in a major city and assume there are 20 main locations regions (suburb cities) in that city.
Assume that all external links to my site will be to only the home page. www.site.com Assume also that my website business has no physical location.
Which scenario is better?
1. One home page that serves up dynamic results based on the user cookie location, but mentions all 20 locations in the content. Google indexes 1 page only, and all external links are to it.
2. One home page that redirects to the user region (one of 20 pages), and therefore will have 20 pages--one for each region that is optimized for that region. Google indexes 20 pages and there will be internal links to the other 19 pages, BUT all external links are still only to the main home page.

Thanks Marc. Sorry for the slow response--I came down with a bug last night..
Here is the basis for my comments that I am thinking that link juice is about Page Rank and not some much with the resulting Search Rank, as well as that Page Rank may actually not be a big deal anymore with overall Search Rank--and so my concern about dilution is overblown. Regardless of the truth on the matter, I appreciate your advice about content and relevancy:

So you only misunderstood that linkjuice has nothing to do with search rank... it is a ranking factor so you should think about how you can use it more effective. On the other hand, websites with only a few sites or even with less content will also have their very own problems with the rankings. BUT everybody (including Google I guess) would prefer a smaller site if it provides good content in comparison to big sites with nonsense
If you are able and can ensure a certain kind of quality and uniqueness for every single (sub)page of your site then go ahead and use this scenario... if you are just able to create (partial) DC: hands off!

Yeah I may not be explaining my understanding correctly, or I may not understand correctly. What I have read is that the issue of link juice is only connected to page rank and not search rank. So, if I have no backlinks to my subpages, then I don't lose any home page juice. So why even have subpages if no backlinks? Because of the search rank. Queries can still lead people to my subpages. In fact I've read that page rank is hardly even a factor in search rank anymore, which implies that no one should even be concerned about link juice dilution at all! I'd like to believe it because I potentially will have plenty of pages with unique content and would like to build backlinks to at least some of them besides the home page..
Does it sound like I've misunderstood this issue?

s say that you want to do a really, really good job, then you have to create absolutely unique subpages (20 times in your case) for more or less the same topic... terrific if you can do so... then use the subpage model...It

Thank you..I've heard this but here is why I find this issue so perplexing: First, I have read that the link juice is ONLY associated with inbound links, so if in both scenarios above all inbound links are to the home page only, then there is no decrease in link juice if I have 20 internal pages, YET I get the benefit of having 20 more pages indexed that might show up in a user query. I guess I'm trying to confirm that my understanding is correct before I have the programmer (me) set up 20 internal pages...I don't want to any more lose link juice from the home page than I have to.
Yesterday the SEO guy I'm thinking of hiring wrote this:
"If you only have the home page indexed, you will never rank. If you only have incoming links to the home page, you will never rank." I don't really understand this..it is in the context of a coupon site that offers coupons for all regions in all cities and of course they will be categorized by some 30 categories and 200 subcategories...
Any further input..really do appreciate it..

linkjuice/linkpower is a term which comes up within the scenarios you describe.
You have to imagine that every single external link gives your site this linkpower/linkjuice. According to that keeping it within one site would be a better decision. If your main site has serveral additional local sites behind/under it, the linkjuice will be passed to those sites.
You don`t have to be a genius in mathematics to see that this would decrease the linkjuice by 20 (in the scenario you describe)...

How difficult is it to rank an exact match domain nowadays in 2017?
Hey there Mozzers! It's been a while since I've been back around these parts after working at a search agency many moons ago. I remember way back how it was stupidly easy to rank for something like "date ideas toronto" when I had an exact match domain www.cheapdateideas.ca and dateideas.ca (which I still own). Anyhow, I've been looking to build up my domain www.dateideas.net with hyper local date ideas and essentially looking to build this for the long term and expand after I hit a certain critical mass in terms of high quality content mostly written by myself to start. Eventually, if it makes sense, hiring authors or getting guest contributors to contribute to the blog if there's enough incentive to do so (which I'll figure out at some point). Question for y'all for a newbie that was semi-pro and now all my knowledge from before isn't so cutting edge. How would you guys approach it. I am looking to build this for the long haul, so it may very well be that some of your answers are "write amazing content", I'll be okay with that answer. Cheers, Will

My pages are absolutely plummeting. HELP!
Hi all, Several of my pages have absolutely tanked in the past fortnight, and I've no idea why. One of them, according to Moz, has a Page Optimisation Score of 96, and it's dropped from 10th to 20th. Schema markup for a local directory listing and Web Site name
Howdy there! Two schema related questions here Schema markup for local directory We have a page that lists multiple location information on a single page as a directory type listing. Each listing has a link to another page that contains more in depth information about that location. We have seen markups using Schema Local Business markup for each location listed on the directory page. Examples: http://www.yellowpages.com/metairie-la/gold-buyers http://yellowpages.superpages.com/listings.jsp?CS=L&MCBP=true&C=plumber%2C+dallas+tx Both of these validate using the Google testing tool, but what is strange is that the yellowpages.com example puts the URL to the profile page for a given location as the "name" in the schema for the local business, superpages.com uses the actual name of the location. Other sites such as Yelp etc have no markup for a location at all on a directory type page. We want to stay with schema and leaning towards the superpages option. Any opinions on the best route to go with this? Schema markup for logo and social profiles vs website name. If you read the article for schema markup for your logo and social profiles, it recommends/shows using the @type of Organization in the schema markup https://developers.google.com/structured-data/customize/social-profiles If you then click down the left column on that page to "Show your name in search results" it recommends/shows using the @type of WebSite in the schema markup. https://developers.google.com/structured-data/site-name We want to have the markup for the logo, social profiles and website name. Do we just need to repeat the schema for the @website name in addition to what we have for @organization (two sets of markup?). Our concern is that in both we are referencing the same home page and in one case on the page we are saying we are an organization and in another a website. Does this matter? Will Google be ok with the logo and social profile markup if we use the @website designation? Thanks!

Google my business - Image sizes
I have scoured the web in order to find a guide that would give me the ideal dimensions for images to populate google my business page... in vain. Location Pages and Duplicate Content and Doorway Pages, Oh My!
Google has this page on location pages. It's very useful but it doesn't say anything about handling the duplicate content a location page might have. Seeing as the loctions may have very similar services. Lets say they have example.com/location/boston, example.com/location/chicago, or maybe boston.example.com or chicago.example.com etc. They are landing pages for each location, housing that locations contact information as well as serving as a landing page for that location. Showing the same services/products as every other location. This information may also live on the main domains homepage or services page as well. My initial reaction agrees with this article: http://moz.com/blog/local-landing-pages-guide - but I'm really asking what does Google expect? Does this location pages guide from Google tell us we don't really have to make sure each of those location pages are unique? Sometimes creating "unique" location pages feels like you're creating **doorway pages - **"Multiple pages on your site with similar content designed to rank for specific queries like city or state names". In a nutshell, Google's Guidelines seem to have a conflict on this topic: Location Pages: "Have each location's or branch's information accessible on separate webpages"

Now you could avoid making it a doorway page or a duplicate content page if you just put the location information on a page. Each page would then have a unique address, phone number, email, contact name, etc. But then the page would technically be in violation of this page: Thin Pages: "One of the most important steps in improving your site's ranking in Google search results is to ensure that it contains plenty of rich information that includes relevant keywords, used appropriately, that indicate the subject matter of your content." ...starting to feel like I'm in a Google Guidelines Paradox! Not displaying the address and its effect on local rankings.
I have just started working with a plumber in my local area to provide a website and generate leads from a combination of SEO, social media and advertising. The issue is that he is adamant that his address should not be displayed anywhere on the site or on any of the citations we are looking to build. This is even after I explained the importance of this information to rankings and the fact that his address can be hidden from view in local listings. I have already come to the conclusion that getting in the typical 7 pack will be near impossible without verifying the address or building citations without a address. But I would like to hear your thoughts on whether you believe ranking organically is still a possibility or whether I should just focus on social / advertising.
