Blacklist IP on Barracuda hurt your Rankings?
-
Hey Everyone,
I was wondering, I ran a website IP address on http://mxtoolbox.com/ and the website was on the blacklist on only one place that is on BARRACUDA.
**Also the website other than that the site is clean. **
- Domain clean by Google Safe Browsing:
- Domain clean by Norton Safe Web:
- Domain clean on Phish tank:
- Domain clean on the Opera browser:
- Domain clean by SiteAdvisor:
- Domain clean by the Sucuri Malware Labs blacklist:
- Domain clean on Yandex (via Sophos):
- Domain clean by ESET:
So I have 2 questions. The site in question is a Classifieds Ad Website
1. Does your ranking get affected if you are associated with a website who is linked to you and is on the blacklist for spam only on Barracuda?
**2. If a website has a bad rating on WOT or WEBUTATION. Does that also hurt your ranking? **Your help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi there,
As you know, there are tons of websites that publish IP blacklists and not everyone of them are authentic. It is no uncommon that IP that belong to legit companies get blacklisted. While these are false positives, there is nothing to worry if you find your IP blacklisted in one or two places. However, you might want to investigate if your IP has been blacklisted in many places.
You can use the following tool to check the same:

For barracuda removal request, here is the URL:

1. Does your ranking get affected if you are associated with a website who is linked to you and is on the blacklist for spam only on Barracuda?
- No, not at all
2. If a website has a bad rating on WOT or WEBUTATION. Does that also hurt your ranking?
- Not directly and moreover, WOT and Webutation scores/ratings can be easily inflated and manipulated. As long as your website stands upto the expectations of your visitors and serves the purpose of its existence, you should be good.
Those were my two cents. All the best to you my friend.

Rafi Devanur

Which of the following actions caused a drop in keyword ranking?
Hello, About 2 months ago we build a specific page arround the keyword 'kerstkaarten' (christmas cards in Dutch). It moved up to the first page (7th position), but last week we fell back to a +50 position.

The changes we made during the last week where minimal, and I really don't have an idea what may have caused the sudden drop in ranking. Maybe you can help? Link: http://www.smartphoto.be/nl/belangrijke-momenten/kerst/kerstkaarten Changes made: -> I changed the keyword kerstkaarten on tim on the page to 'kerstkaartjes', because the Moz page grader said the keyword density was a bit too high. -> We changed the top image on the page with a different promo. Title of the image changed from 'kerstkaarten-promo' to 'kerstkaarten-wenskaarten' -> The date on a small legal text on the page changed -> We got 2 backlinks from bloggers who've written an article about our christmas cards. So no major changes in my opinion. Any ideas? Thanks a lot! hz2DpJS0 -
Can No Follow Links Hurt Rankings?
Thanks to sites like SEOmoz and good folks like yourselves I was able to understand enough about SEO to know that the company we outsourced the SEO to were doing at best a sloppy job. I have seen that the link profile of site is totally unnatural in terms of factors such as relevancy and anchor text but also that around 95% of the 800 links are no follow. My question is whether these low quality no follow links causing unnatural anchor text ratios and poor link relevancy would hurt our rankings? I am basically wondering if I have to now go and try to have all those links removed somehow to avoid any problems going forward?

Domain authority or page authority in ranking
Hi, sorry if this is an obvious one... I am doing some keyword research tool and have a few keywords I wish to ran for. Looking at the DA of the sites on the first page they are averaging 60ish, my site is 33. However, for the keywords I am targeting they seem to have PA of 1, or at best, 5. From what I can make it out appears they are ranking for the keywords because of their strong DA rather than any seo work. If I were to target these keywords and send backlinks to the individual pages and so build up a PA on my pages would this be enough to challenge the competitors or would I still be at a major disadvantage because of my lower DA? Hope that make sense? I know what I mean but hard to explain it Thanks

Do sub-domains help overall domain ranking?
If I have a blog at (for example) blog.mywebsite.co.uk (hosted on Wordpress), does this confer rankings to the top level domain (e.g. www.mywebsite.co.uk which we host ourselves)? Contained within the blog are many links to the main website (which is an eCommerce website) for all our key phrases, but it seemed like a good idea to keep the blog and the store separate. Alternatively, would it be better to use something like www.mywebsite.co.uk/news? Thanks! Alex

Same IP for sites & linkbuilding - negative signal for search engines?
Let's say you have 40 websites which share the same IP and you place links to them on a bunch of sites (directories, blogs), albeit on different pages on these sites. Will search engines (google) see that they use the same IP and start having the links not-pass link juice based on that same IP?
