Content Duplication - Zencart
-
Hi Guys !!!
Based on crawler results, it shows that I have 188 duplicate content pages, out of which some are those in which I am not able to understand where the duplication is ???
The page created is unique. All the URL's are static, all titles, metat tags are unique.
How do I remove this duplication !!! I am using Zencart as a platform.
Thanks in advance for the help !!!

Awesome! I checked it out and everything looks good.
Regarding the temporary redirects. I don't really have enough information to answer this question. A temporary, or 302 redirect, is seen by the search engines, as just that - temporary. Therefore, any authority does not pass through. In a 301 redirect, like the ones you created for the www. vs. non-www the authority passes through as the search engine understands the redirect to be permanent. Therefore, I would try and figure this out with your web developer.
In the meantime, I would download an extension such as Ayima Redirect Tool and take a look at the pages that have 302 redirects and where they are being redirect from. With the tool you may be able to figure out what is going on.

Hi Guys !!!
I have resolved this issue of www and non www.
Just a quick question: Crawl results are showing 1651 pages having temporary redirects. Was this the only cause or there is something else that has to be done.
Thanks for the help !!!

Caitlin: Thanks !!! This is an immensely helpful suggestion !
Is there a preference on which one should be redirected to which one or it could be either ways ??
Thanks in advance for such great help
Really appreciated

I've noticed that there are two versions of the link you provided:
http://champu.in/che-guevara-red-mens-round-neck-t-shirt-india
and
http://www.champu.in/che-guevara-red-mens-round-neck-t-shirt-india
Google see's these as two separate pages and, as a result, duplicate content. A 301 redirect should be created from one to the other to resolve this issue. Is this is happening across the site rel="canonical' needs to be implemented site wide.

Benjamin:
Thanks for response.
This is the page that is showing duplicate URL 3 times: http://champu.in/che-guevara-red-mens-round-neck-t-shirt-india
However, there is no other page like this. Content is somewhat similar on all the pages, but with unique ID's.
Not sure, if that is the only reason, but if that is so. All my pages should show duplicate error.
Please suggest.

Hey,
Was the content ever the same? Did you recently update it? Is anything on the page the same or similar to other pages, did you maybe upload another version of your site on the server?

Duplicate Content within Site
I'm very new here... been reading a lot about Panda and duplicate content. I have a main website and a mobile site (same domain - m.domain.com). I've copied the same text over to those other web pages. Is that okay? Or is that considered duplicate content?

Javascript tabbed navigation and duplicate content
I'm working on a site that has four primary navigation links and under each is a tabbed navigation system for second tier items. The primary link page loads content for all tabs which are javascript controlled. Users will click the primary navigation item "Our Difference" (http://www.holidaytreefarm.com/content.cfm/Our-Difference) and have several options with each tabs content in separate sections. Each second tier tab is also available via sitemap/direct link (ie http://www.holidaytreefarm.com/content.cfm/Our-Difference/Tree-Logistics) without the js navigation so the content on this page is specific to the tab, not all tabs. In this scenario, will there be duplicate content issues? And, what is the best way to remedy this? Thanks for your help!

Duplicate Content Due to Pagination
Recently our newly designed website has been suffering from a rankings loss. While I am sure there are a number of factors involved, I'd like to no if this scenario could be harmful... Google is showing a number of duplicate content issues within Webmaster Tools. Some of what I am seeing is duplicate Meta Titles and Meta Descriptions for page 1 and page 2 of some of my product category pages. So if a category has many products and has 4 pages, it is effectively showing the same page title and meta desc. across all 4 pages. I am wondering if I should let my site show, say 150 products per page to get them all on one page instead of the current 36 per page. I use the Big Commerce platform. Thank you for taking the time to read my question!

How different does content need to be to avoid a duplicate content penalty?
I'm implementing landing pages that are optimized for specific keywords. Some of them are substantially the same as another page (perhaps 10-15 words different). Are the landing pages likely to be identified by search engines as duplicate content? How different do two pages need to be to avoid the duplicate penalty?

Over 700+ duplicate content pages -- help!
I just signed up for SEO Moz pro for my site. The initial report came back with over 700+ duplicate content pages. My problem is that while I can see why some of the content is duplicated on some of the pages I have no idea why it's coming back as duplicated. Is there a tutorial for a novie on how to read the duplicate content report and what steps to take? It's an e-commerce website and there is some repetitive content on all the product pages like our "satisfaction guaranteed" text and the fabric material... and not much other text. There's not a unique product description because an image speaks for itself. Could this be causing the problem? I have lots of URLs with over 50+ duplicates. Thx for any help.

Duplicate Content based on www.www
In trying to knock down the most common errors on our site, we've noticed we do have an issue with dupicate content; however, most of the duplicate content errors are due to our site being indexed with www.www and not just www. I am perplexed as to how this is happening. Searching through IIS, I see nothing that would be causing this, and we have no hostname records setup that are www.www. Does anyone know of any other things that may cause this and how we can go about remedying it?

Help With Joomla Duplicate Content
Need another set of eyes on my site from someone with Joomla experience. I'm running Joomla 2.5 (latest version) and SEOmoz is giving my duplicate content errors on a lot of my pages. I checked my sitemap, I checked my menus, and I checked my links, and I can't figure out how SEOmoz is finding the alternate paths to my content. Home page is: http://www.vipfishingcharters.com/ There's only one menu at the top. Take the first link "Dania Beach" under fishing charters for example. This generates the SEF url: http://www.vipfishingcharters.com/fishing-charters/broward-county/dania-beach-fishing-charters-and-fishing-boats.html Somehow SEOmoz (and presumably all other robots) are finding duplicate content at: http://www.vipfishingcharters.com/broward-county/dania-beach-fishing-charters-and-fishing-boats.html SEOmoz says the referrer is the homepage/root. The first URL is constructed using the menu aliases. The second one is constructed using the Joomla category and article alias. Where is it getting this and how can I stop it? <colgroup><col width="601"></colgroup>

Forget Duplicate Content, What to do With Very Similar Content?
All, I operate a Wordpress blog site that focuses on one specific area of the law. Our contributors are attorneys from across the country who write about our niche topic. I've done away with syndicated posts, but we still have numerous articles addressing many of the same issues/topics. In some cases 15 posts might address the same issue. The content isn't duplicate but it is very similar, outlining the same rules of law etc. I've had an SEO I trust tell me I should 301 some of the similar posts to one authoritative post on the subject. Is this a good idea? Would I be better served implementing canonical tags pointing to the "best of breed" on each subject? Or would I be better off being grateful that I receive original content on my niche topic and not doing anything? Would really appreciate some feedback. John
