What is the exact meaning of external links & anchor text and what is different between these?

so, there are internal links these are links inside your site linking inwardly. Like linking to an about page from your home page this is an internal link.

An external link is a link from outside your site e.g Moz linking to your site, this is an external link which is what most SEO people are after.

The anchor text is the name of the link This is an example

Help setting up FILTERS for External Payment pages?

Hi all, I own a webshop and believe my Google Analytics is not showing true data. At the moment when a user pays for their basket, they are redirected to an external secure payment page from my PSP, then after they have paid they are redirected back to my website. How is this visitor being counted? As the PSP-URL is a different site I assume this would be treated as an exit? Can I setup FILTERS to INCLUDE this URL so GA doesn't think its an external page or is there a better way? Thanks

Links not pointing to my website?

Aloha everyone! I've asked questions to the Moz community before and have always been happy to see how responsive and helpful the community is as a SEO learning new comer! Many thanks in advance for any ideas or insights to solving this problem. So here is my question, I own a wedding photography business here on Kauai and am looking to rank for a few things, Kauai wedding photographer, Kauai Wedding videographer, and Kauai family photographer. That aside I've been pouring more time into getting back links from people I've shot with here on Kauai (local business's websites etc) and have had links dropped in on their sites to, in theory, bump my rankings up from back linking my website. Here's my website http://www.balihaiphoto.com/ Here's a few sites but are not showing up as backlinks/pushing my site higher on SEO results (screen shot as well) http://www.haleleakeiki.org/ (bottom of page footer linking to BaliHaiPhoto.com) and another site here http://www.wishingwellshaveice.com/ with the same thing, footer link pointing to my website. Both sites have been indexed and the shave ice one gets a good amount of traffic, does anyone know why this isn't showing as a back link or if its passing on any link juice my way? Huge Decline in Links

Good Morning Everyone, Looking for some feedback as to why all of my Backlink metrics might be way down (as well as rankings)... Please see the details below that show some of the metrics from MOZ reports from August and from October. Does anyone know why these metrics are all so down? We have not done any link removal exercises or anything that would cause this drop --- please let me know if there is any insight any of you have as to what is the reason for this drop. If Links not in GWT does that mean they havent been Indexed yet?

Hi we have had some success recently with increased rank positions, so I am trying to find our what's caused it? Am I correct in thinking that if google hasnt listed any new links in my GWT account that it hasnt indexed them yet and therefore not impacting my rankings? Thanks Ash

Solving link and duplicate content errors created by Wordpress blog and tags?

SEOmoz tells me my site's blog (a Wordpress site) has 2 big problems: a few pages with too many links and duplicate content. The problem is that these pages seem legit the way they are, but obviously I need to fix the problem, sooooo... Duplicate content error: error is a result of being able to search the blog by tags. Each blog post has mutliple tags, so the url.com/blog/tag pages occasionally show the same articles. Anyone know of a way to not get penalized for this? Should I exclude these pages from being crawled/sitemapped? Too many links error: SEOmoz tells me my main blog page has too many links (both url.com/blog/ and url.com/blog-2/) - these pages have excerpts of 6 most recent blog posts. I feel like this should not be an error... anyone know of a solution that will keep the site from being penalized by these pages? Thanks!

Measuring events to external sites

Im having problem measuring click on ads by using events in GA or Jetpack. For example when I checked out yesterday this is what I read: 1. In GA events it says 12 clicks 2. In Jetpack it says 9 clicks But when I look at Referrals to the actual site directly it says 18 clicks Which one is the rights one? I need this because I use this to invoice clients end of month! and it cant be any "maybe".something. cheers, R

Tracking clicks from a specific link

Hi all, I'm looking for a bit of help with Analytics. I want to track the number of clicks that my main CTA generates over the course of the month. I've got all my goals set up correctly, but is there some sort of code that I can add to that specific link which will count the goal conversions which it generates? Do I need to set up something specific in GA? Thanks a lot for your help,
