Google indexing nofollow links
-
Hi Guys
I have yellowpages.com.au appearing in the link profiles for some of my clients, but not in others (even if clients without the link in their profile have had an actual link on yellowpages.com.au longer than some who do have it in their profile).
My understanding is that Google MAY eventually index a nofollow link... My question is what would cause Google to actually index it?
-
When you say "link profiles" it leads me to believe that you are using Open Site Explorer or some other SEO Tool. No SEO tool can crawl every page on the web, which is why the link may not show up on some client's backlink reports.
See if it is reported in Google Webmaster Tools or if the page is indexed by Google. If the page is indexed, you know Google is aware of the link.
-
Where are you seeing those links as indexed by Google? In Google WMT? OSE?
-
All of our clients do have listings on yellowpages.com.au, however only some of the clients show yellowpages.com.au in their link profiles. I'm just wondering why it is appearing for some and not others?
Thank you for the second part of the question. I wasn't actually sure whether they were passing link juice even though they appeared in the index, I thought Moz only displayed links in a client's link profile if they were actually passing juice on to their website

I am sorry could you reword the beginning of your question.
I understand that you have yellowpages.com.au URLs pointing to some of your clients?
Yet it seems like you are saying that other clients that your 100% certain do not have a yellowpages.com.au are somehow showing up with a Yellow Pages URL pointing at their site?
I suppose you are doing this all with open site Explorer?
- Your second paragraph
"My understanding is that Google MAY eventually index a nofollow link... My question is what would cause Google to actually index it?"
- Yes the answer to what your second paragraph states is absolutely if a link is regular follow link and it points to a no follow link Google will finish crawling it has to actually crawl be no follow to understand what it is.
- No follows done completely Google's discretion. If you are telling me that these people are receiving link juice from a no follow that would surprise me.
- if that the no follow link shows up in the index that does not surprise me at all.
I hope this makes sense and answers her question.
Sincerely,
Thomas

Does link have any value?
I recently received a link, but upon inspecting the page source on the site I did not see the link in the coding. Is this a link with any SEO value? Is google able to see this link? Note: Upon inspecting the actual link on the page, I do see coding with a followed link, but on the page source, only the actual table in which it is listed shows in the coding, with none of the content - including our link, showing.

Why is OSE not showing Google+ bio link in backlink profile?
Hi fellow mozzers I wonder why opensiteexplorer (ose) isn't showing Google+ bio links in backlink profile reports of websites that get a link from the "about" page of a Google+ account (+ contributor link). Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Jacob

Reciprocol Links
Am I correct in stating that linking to every article about your company is a bad idea. I see a lot of sites with followed links to the articles that link to them. Is this not devaluing the link? I've been recommending removing the links or no indexing the page and no following the links. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Links in the Classifieds
We rent apartments. One way we use to find clients is to advertize these apartments in Classifieds. Generally, we use free ads. Sometimes, for very popular sites ( like Kijiji), we pay so our ads can be seen first. Could this be a problem with Google? Some sites send us clients, many of them never do. We keep putting ads there because of their PR. What is the worth of this kind of links? Thanks for your answers.

Link to those that link to you? Worthwhile?
We have thousands and thousands of sites that link to a domain we are working on, many with low page authority and high domain (bloggers, forum posts, etc). Has anyone experimented with linking to the pages that link to you (not from your site) but from other means in an effort to boost their quality? I'm not sure what method we would use, maybe some relevant blog comments or social votes. But curious if this could be an effective method.
