Old Speed Reports
-
Hey all,
We just moved our website to WordPress and trying to compare the new reports we are receiving for page speed/user experience to the old ones.Looking at dates before the relaunch, it looks as if old site speed reports are unavailable? Does anyone know of a way to recover older reports?
We want to compare the responsive site/new desktop version to the old one (end users would have to "pinch" the screen to look at content on old site).
Thanks in advance if you have any info!!!!

Unfortunately, in Google Analytics, there is no way to see these old speed reports before you did all the changes. (Unless you saved them to your computer or something.)

Honestly, you are better off comparing other metrics pre/post redesign - most importantly bounce rates and conversions. If you bounce rate decreased + conversions increased, page speed report doesn't really matter.
Run a report via pingdom + gtmetrix on the new site and apply as many page speed improvements as you can.

How long should an old site redirecting to a new site remain activated on a server?
Once I switch a site to a new domain (with links to corresponding/relative pages), will I have to keep the old site live forever for those links to work, or how long should I wait before I inactivate the old site on our server?

Is there an issue if we show our old mobile site to Google & new site to users
Hi, We have our existing mobile site that contains interlinking in footer & content and new mobile site that does not have interlinking. We will show existing mobile site to google crawler & new mobile site to users. Will this be taken as black hat by Google. The mobile site & desktop site will have same url across devices & browsers. How do I deal with old software on my server?
I am currently running an old software called gallery2 on my website. I used it for years to showcase some of the work I have done. I switched over to Next Gen gallery some time ago, but I still have my gallery 2 online. Gallery 2 isn't really available on my website anymore unless people find it through search engines. The only reason I didn't delete it years ago was because I didnt know how that would effect my rankings. At the moment its not working...and instead of figuring out why, Id like to go ahead and remove it. How should I deal with any dead links? The problem is that I had a few hundred photos on gallery, so there will be an overwhelming number of dead links. I was thinking of making a new page on my site and just put all of my NextGen galleries on the page... and then just 301 everything that was located at /gallery2 to my new gallery page. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Tim

Old school HTML and rankings
How does really old school HTML (with inline CSS and a boat load of markup errors) affect modern SEO? I'm talking purely rankings, not conversions or bounce rate etc.

Thoughts on how to speed up my site? (Other site ideas.)
I was wondering if someone had a few minutes to talk a look at our site and see how to speed it up. I've ran some of the speed tests and I get different results, so I'm not sure if my site would be considered "slow" or not. Also if there any other things that jump out at you (usability, side bar, things I should change / add / take away to make a users experience better, etc.) please let me know. Any feedback is good feedback to me. 🙂 I'm using WP Super Cache as well. Thanks!

Do you think it will be a good idea to delete old blog pages off the server
I paid somebody to build my website using Dreamweaver, and at one point I didn't know how to use the template which automatically updates every page in the menu section so I stupidly broke the template on every new page when I made the websites blog and put the pages into a subfolder. I realised this was a silly thing to do and now and I now know how to use the template correctly I've copied every single page over from the subfolder and put it into the main template. Now I can update the template menu and every page changes automatically. The only problem is I've now got two versions of every page of my blog on the website. For some reason when I do a sitemap it comes up with a links to the old blog pages I, don't know why when I've removed the links from the blog page? and also the new copies also. I have basically got a copys of all blog pages. Do you think it will be a good idea to delete old indexed blog pages off the server so that when Google spiders the site it will pick up only the new links to the copy pages?
