I'm not an advanced analytics expert (maybe medium level ) but let me try to help out.
1.Enhanced eCommerce vs Event Tracking
Enhanced eCommerce helps you measure how users interact with your products, shopping cart etc - so you can see in depth information around adding items, viewing items, cart abandoning, purchase completions. You can slice and dice this at a product level. This is only for sites where you can purchase products on the site.
Event Tracking is like a blank canvas to track any sort of user behavior you want (within some limitations) - but you might track a button click, interaction with a video (play, pause, etc), or PDF downloads, or scrolling behavior.
Importantly, you can turn and event into a goal where you could track sign-up form completions (via the click of the 'submit' button) as a goal and tie that back to your standard analytics data.
Event tracking can be done on any website - even if you don't sell products.
2. In short: no. You may still need event tracking.
If you enable enhanced eCommerce, this will give you the capabilities described above (measuring product and shopping cart interactions) - see this for more info https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6014841?hl=en ...BUT your option to use event tracking is your choice based upon what you might want to measure. If you want to measure clicks on your email list signup button you need event tracking. Canonical Tags & GWT Parameters
A site I'm working on has canonical tags which I find to be accurate, regardless of tracking parameters or anything else added to the url. The tag looks like: And we have alot of parameters in Google Search Console that look like Parameter Crawl page Let Googlebot Decide destination Let Googlebot Decide filters Let Googlebot Decide Since all of our parameters follow a question mark, like http://www.examplesite.com/questions/avocados?source=ad12345 and all of our pages have canonical tags showing the representative url without the additional parameters, why wouldn't we just have the one parameter in GWT as Parameter Crawl ? Representative URL I ask because I find that Google analytics shows pages with parameters as landing pages in search, which has me concerned about Google seeing it as duplicate content. Thanks! Like i visited the my site, then product page then checkout step 1 page after that i close the checkout step 1 page that means checkout step 1 drop off will appear in google analytic? right? John

Tracking Clicks on a Global Header Across Multiple Sites
Hey All, A particular client has multiple websites and we're planning on implementing a global header across 15+ sites. I've been looking for a way to track the clicks on this global header across all sites (that is that they are summed up), what's the best way to go about this if I am using Google Analytics (I know Adobe site catalyst could do this no problem with some advanced tweaking), any ideas? I could do the general click tracking route and tag every link but that will only help me if I do that for each site (that being said, if the global header for all sites pulls from a single HTML, then tagging it would technically count all the clicks from all the sites, the only caveat being that I'd have to pick which Google analytics profile I'd want to track the header with). Thoughts? Thanks!

Set Up of Goal Tracking with Google Analytics-$750 a Fair Price????
Greetings Moz Community! My firm operates commercial real estate website that contains 3-4 forms. Each form represents a goals. Google Analytics has been set up for years, but it does not track these form completions/goals properly. My SEO firm has offered to configure Goals on Google Analytics for $750. Is this a fair price? If the set up takes one hour, I am really over paying. But if this is a complex project that may take 7-9 hours the pricing seems OK. Also, the SEO firm will require an additional $750 in the future to set up event tracking. Is this excessive? I might add that my developer will need to add code to my web site. My SEO company has proven reliable and accurate. I can go to sleep at night knowing they are doing a good job. Where as my Argentinian developers really try their best, but perhaps because of the language barrier, they can make mistakes from time to time. I am willing to pay a premium to ensure that the job is done correctly domestically, however I don't appreciate over paying. Is the $750 payment for setting up Google Analytics reasonable assuming the job is done well??? Thanks,

Tracking Social Media Logged In Users Help
Hi, I recently read Tom Anthony's post on "Monitor Which Social Networks Your Visitors are Logged Into With Google Analytics". I have looked and re-looked at the code implemented and after two days I am still not getting any results tracking.
