Keyword Difficulty Score Meter: how to interpret levels
-
I'm hoping to find what percentages change the levels for the difficulty score meter in the keyword difficulty tool. For example, when does a blue -- non-competitive -- move into the green level, and so forth. Also, I can't find the description (names?) of all the levels (highly competitive, non-competitive, etc).
Thanks for your help.

Hi Charles,
Although, we have let our product team know that some users prefer a firm delineation for the moment we are sticking with the breakdown provided above. If you have any questions on this or have some feedback you would like sent up to the powers who rule the keyword difficulty section let me know!
Anyway hope this helps and I wish you an awesome day.

Hi There,
This is an excellent question! This awesome summary is based on a post back in 2012 by SCL SEO and comes from this link http://moz.com/community/q/keyword-difficulty-score-assesment. So generally it breaks down like this:
- Sub 30 - (Blue) Low hanging fruit you can take advantage of.
- 30 - 35 (Green) Fairly easy with good on page and some quality anchored links.
- 35 - 40 - (Yellow) Will take a bit more work but still in reach may require, good on-site SEO and a solid link profile.
- 40 - 50 (Orange) Domain authority plays a much more pivotal role so it may take longer to rank for.
- 50+ (Red) All about resources. Onsite SEO needs to be totally nailed, including internal linking/ topic modelling etc. a strong & diverse link profile with good social signals and ... time.
Hope this helps and if you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to let us know.
Have a spectacular day and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

80% Spam Score!! Can Any One Help?
I have a question about the Spam Score for my website .
Moz Bar | | PoppyP
I have run a Spam Score for https://www.poppyporter.co.uk
It has come back with an 80% score because there are 4 links that are apparently from my poppyporter.com domain each with a 69% spam score.
This poppyporter.com domain is parked and I have no idea why there are links from it. There are no pages there and there never have been, I've never used the poppyporter.com domain only poppyporter.co.uk.
I don't understand why there are links there and why they are making my Spam Score so high.
Will they affect my site's SEO? Do I need to worry about them? If so how do I get rid of them?
Can you help?
Thanks very much Poppy1 -
Keyword Explorer how can I uncover all phrases relating to a single keyword?
From what I can see in Keyword Explorer you cannot enter a single keyword and uncover all search phrases that include this word. Or at least when I try to "Display keyword suggestions that" and select "only include keywords that contain all the query terms" and then enter a keyword. I cannot find a phrase in the list even when I can find it via a different search when if I type it directly.

Keywords Score Meter
Hi Moz, I am using the keywords difficulty tool from your site and find it is quite useful 🙂 I research the community and find the data should be interpreted in the following way. But when I did a quick research for one keyword. The tool bar gives me a data of 22% showing in Yellow and says the keyword is competitive when I hover my mouse. Should this be **Blue **and easy to rank keyword based on the score? Which one should I believe? Sub 30 - (Blue) Low hanging fruit you can take advantage of. 30 - 35 (Green) Fairly easy with good on page and some quality anchored links. 35 - 40 - (Yellow) Will take a bit more work but still in reach may require, good on-site SEO and a solid link profile. 40 - 50 (Orange) Domain authority plays a much more pivotal role so it may take longer to rank for. 50+ (Red) All about resources. Keyword research in Moz - Am I missing something?…
I'm fairly new at SEO and am still trying out MOZ. I'm finding myself wishing that Moz had a broader set of tools for keyword research, but am wondering if maybe I'm just missing something. Am I correct in saying that there is no place within Moz that you can get keyword ideas, select/organize keywords, find new/related keywords? I've appreciated the keyword difficulty tool and have played around with Moz Analytics keyword tracking, but these don't help with the broader keyword research aspect. The various tutorials talk about using Google AdWords Keyword Planner and other tools to do that job. But with all that Moz can do, it just seems backwards to do lots of copying-pasting from other tools into Moz, or to have to rely on old excel spreadsheets to organize keywords. It seems that life would be much easier if Moz would be able to pull that kind of external research information in, like Raven does. That way you do most of your research within Moz – allowing you to organize/evaluate potential keywords BEFORE choosing the ones you would like to test for difficulty or track. That way you could simply select the desired keywords and add them to your tracked list. The way it is now, even the one research tool that Moz does have (keyword difficulty) does not allow for an easy way to track or manage a chosen set of keywords. For example, after doing some keyword difficulty analysis, I've chose 5 keywords. To add these 5 to the tracked keywords in a specific campaign I can't just select them and say "track keywords > in xxx campaign". From what I've understood, I must copy-and-paste them into the manage keyword section of the desired campaign. To me this all feels a bit awkward. But since I'm new at this, maybe I'm just missing something? Or maybe it's unrealistic to expect a single tool to address all my SEO needs?

Keyword Ranking Report Blank
I have a custom ranking report set up to run every month. The module that shows the overall changes (how many improved, how many dropped, number in rank #1-3, etc.) populates with data, but the keyword ranking for tracked keywords listing is blank for all keywords, all search engines. I haven't changed anything in my campaigns - why is this reporting blank? Thanks!

Ambiguities In The MozBar Keyword Difficulty Checker
Hi, This is more of an observation rather than a real issue. But I noticed that when I check a keyword difficulty in Google by pressing the button that appears I get a different % result to the same keyword placed in the campaign. I suspect that it is something to do with being in the UK, however, If for instance I go to google.co.uk and place in the search bar IT support company Portsmouth I get the result 44% appear but in the keyword difficulty tool I get the result 34%. It seems to do this on all the keywords I have checked. I also checked both US and UK results in the campaign but neither of these came up within the 10% difference of the toolbar. Like I mentioned though, not a criticism, just an observation, its still a very handy little tool. EDIT 06/18/14: I thought I would just add that I am now getting some seriously odd results. For instance, if I put in the keyword 'hairy blue widgets for sale in Outer Mongolia' it returns a difficulty level of 71% ??? Thanks
