Alexa Site Audit
-
Hello All,
I run an Alexa Site Audit report for my client. Is it normal that my Alexa site audit report will be public i.e. S3 URL for downloading the PDF file was open to anyone knowing the URL. No re-direct to login etc was there? Yes the S3 URL is funny but Google bots have ways to find this funny URLs so is this normal? If you have tried Alexa can you repeat the problem i.e. typing your S3 report URL? can you get it to? or is it just me.
I have asked Alexa about it. I think there should be some security.
Thanks.

Thanks for posting the followup to this, it's very helpful to know both that the problem is solved and that Alex had a fast turnaround.

Guys from Alexa provided a full refund plus solve the issues about i.e. now no one can't access the PDF from S3 without authenticating/login to alexa.
They reacted very quickly on this and solve the issue. Good work Alexa!

Best Site or Place to Hire Mid Level SEO Specialists
Hello Mozzers, Our digital agency has been continuously growing which is a good thing BUT recruiting for Junior or Mid Level SEO Specialists is getting harder in our area (we are in Orlando Florida). We post on Indeed.com but the level of knowledge and also the amount of candidates is not a lot. Do you know any other site that only pertains to our industry? Any suggestions? In fact, its been hard , we are even thinking of developing a job board site just for our niche. Your recommendation and thoughts?

Why Did Our Site Disappear for 6 Months?
Hello! The company that I work for recently hired a company to do their SEO. After they took over we fell out of the search engines for our keywords for 6 months! (I had previously done the SEO using Moz, but had to step down due to my husband getting cancer. He's all better and I'm back. 🙂 ) We contacted the SEO company recently to find out why the only way we could be found in the search engines was if we searched on our name. The reason they gave was Penguin, Panda, and Hummingbird. I personally don't believe that would cause our site to disappear for 6 months then miraculously reappear for our keywords a few days after us complaining. One of my main concerns is they have submitted us to 140 directories and 20 social bookmarking sites. How do I tell if these are good or bad sites? A few of them I've clicked are suspended and one Google warns about malicious content and to leave immediately - so those are obvious. Thanks for your help! Kelley Insana

What would be your top 10 Magento sites in terms of SEO and ranking? I'm looking for examples of Magneto sites that have been set up correctly and are ranking well. Especially recently launched sites that have managed to get themselves ranking well in competitive markets! Cheers

SEO Risks for redirecting sites
Hey Everyone, I've tried searching for this question, but am not exactly sure what keywords to search for so I'm probably missing the resources if they already exist... My client has had duplicated sites for years, and after multiple penalizations of those sites I was finally able to convince him to consolidate them into a "mega-site". Currently, he has a main domain, a geo-subdomain for each office location under the main domain, and a geo-domain for each office location. We plan on redirecting each geo-domain to the corresponding geo-subdomain. So, the final result will be one main domain, and a sub-domain for each office location. I'm looking for any information regarding tracking SEO data after the redirects are in place, how to guard against potential drops in SERPs, what's the smartest strategy to implement, etc... My client is very sensitive to his sites' SEO data, so if anyone has any SEO-related advice regarding redirecting sites it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Build a site, do SEO work on it and sell it?
Does anybody do this? With success? I keep finding industries right here in my local area (concrete work, home security, painting) that have 4-5 local companies that are competing and NONE of them are doing even the most BASIC items to seo their site or capitalize on ANYTHING online. I could pick 7-8 of these industries and have somebody who works for me spend a couple hours a week on each building links and writing a half way interesting blog post, etc. and once they rank higher than most of the competition sell em for 2-3 grand I bet, especially since I can prove how much traffic they are getting. Thoughts? Thanks for weighing in. Matthew

Good time to start a niche site?
I am wondering, with all the recent changes in the algorithm, is this a good time to start a niche site? I know this can be fairly subjective, depending on the niche. But, anyone think this is a good opportunity?

How does recent Google update affect e-commerce sites:
Most ecommerce sites use the original manufacturer product descriptions in their content. The product features and specifications are the content made by the manufacturer. Sometimes manufacturers insist that the ecommerce sites should use their original content and it is impossible to change what available in the original content and rewrite it.
