I have listed my business in a lot of directories and my authority hasn't changed why??

I have listed my business in a lot of directories recently and my domain authority dropped 1 point...why?
second I would like to know what is the most effective way to increase my website domain authority?
-
Have you compared your domain authority to your closest competitors? For example if yours dropped 1 point but theirs dropped 4 this would still be considered excellent. As Monica mentioned DA tends to change a lot and this is normal.

Sorry my response might not seem very helpful, however, the keywords from all I read here is "a lot of directories". I suggest you read more about Google Penguin Update.

For this question I really recommend Rand's latest Mozinar from December.
There are a lot of practices from last year that you basically have to learn how to implement differently - especially content marketing - so sit back, relax and spend your next 90 minutes on this valuable Mozinar. It's worth it.

Creating useful content for your audience is a good way to start. Alternatively you could reach out to influencers/ experts in your field and ask them to write about you.

Hi there,
Domain authority is a metric developed by Moz to rank domains. It takes into account a whole range of factors from site structure, internal links to baclink profiles. The best way to increase your DA is simply by working on your holistic SEO.
There are some great articles around on here/ the world wide web that will help you.

Regarding your DA dropping after listing your site in directories; what directories did you register in? Are they relevant to your site?
I hope this helps!

What is the best way to build links naturally and to build a social presence?
-
Your domain authority is not influenced by NAP alone. How long ago did you update these directories? Can you be sure that Google has indexed the links? I say you need anywhere from 3-6 weeks for the newly established links to be indexed by Google.
If you want to increase your domain authority you need quality links to high authority sites and great social signals. This is proven to be effective, but it takes time. Anything that works overnight is sure to bring you a penalty or two. Give it some time. Build your links the natural, organic way and build a social presence. These methods will keep you out of trouble and build your DA.
Fluctuation in DA are quite normal. It isn't unusual to go up a point one month, go down a point another month. The same links are not crawled every month. Sometimes it is the difference in rounding up and rounding down. For example, last month my DA was 28.8, so 29. This month my DA is 29.3, which is also 29. Fluctuations are normal and should only concern you if it is a dramatic increase or decrease.

Paginated List Links
In a rel=prev rel=next set of paginated pages. Is there a benefit to have prev and next links in addition to the numbered links on the page. Or will the numbered links suffice? Any help would be most welcome.

Link building for a 'boring' eCommerce site
Hey all, I'm in need of some serious inspiration and I'm hoping one of you generous people can help. We're looking to do a spot of link building for an eCommerce site which I would describe (without putting it down too much) as 'boring'. This isn't our fault per se as the site sells printer cartridges and there's only a certain amount of excitement such a product can create. As a result natural linkbuilding is quite tricky, especially when it comes to creating links to anything other than our homepage. For the past couple of years we have focused on creating good content and indeed have a thriving database of hundreds of helpful articles and videos on the site. These are generating decent traffic (and rank #1 for many different help related search terms) but the problem with these articles is that they don’t convert in to sales at all well. I’m also conscious that it will ultimately end in us developing a link profile which would classify us as a printer repair resource rather than cartridge sales website. I have read numerous guides on Moz but they all tend to focus on products which are a little sexier than those that we sell. Getting someone to share and link to a truly unique product would be incredibly easy compared with asking someone to engage, share and link to the latest Epson cartridge. I started writing articles on some decent quality business blogs however the links given don’t look particularly natural and the link would always be to our homepage. We have the staff and the time but we built a whole host of rubbish links back before Penguin and I want to ensure that we are going to head in the right direction before embarking on something new. If you had a site which was really dull how would you devise a link building strategy that was relevant and, most importantly, natural? Thanks for your help. Chris

Are directory websites still worth considering?
Hi Mozzers, What are people's opinions on directory website? As standard, we would always attempt to get our clients listed on reputable generic directories such as Google My Business and Yelp, and then directories that are relevant to the industry in which a company operates. Do you think this is the right approach to take?

Internal Links and Page Authority - Best Practices
Hello, Is it bad (in terms of ranking in the SERPS) if i have a link from a page with PA of 18 going to a page with PA of 21? In other words, does it matter if the page containing the link has a lower page authority than the page receiving the link? Page A links to Page B Page A page authority is 18 Page B page authority 21 could this negatively affect my rankings? Thanks

Should we use 'disavow' if we dramatically dropped serps after Oct 5th, but did not receive a warning?
We dramatically dropped serps after Oct 5th, but did not receive a warning about bad links on google webmasters. Is it a good idea to find and collect the worst links and disavow them? As there was no warning we can only guess links were the problem, but it seems likely. However we do not want to send any requests to google if no warning was sent. Can disavow be used in this way, or should we do more manually? (We are hoping remove links + increase very solid links + optimize for key words will help revive serps) Many thanks. James

Has there been a change in the Competitive Domain Analysis?
I've noted the total number of links has dropped drastically on multiple reports. Is there something new in the Competitive Domain Report or is it really just my clients? Also I've noticed that all of my clients have seen slight decreases in MozTrust - is this related to your reports analysis of panda? Thanks!!

I don't know if i should post my articles to other forums or sharing sites to create back links?
All the articles on my blog are written on my own. I write about 5 ones per month. I don't know if i should post my articles to other forums or sharing sites to create back links? I have heard that it may cause adverse effect because my blog will be crawled more slowly than those forums, so Google will consider the articles on my blog (as) copies. Is that right?
