Do only paid adwords appear in google shopping
-
Does anyone know if we have to have a paid addwords campain for our products to appear in google shopping.
We have a feed set up for google shopping.
We have addwords campaigns running for google.
But our products do not seem to appear in google shopping.
Any advise on how to get them there?

I totally agree. The conversion on my campaign is sick! Mainly because we always appear cheaper next to the big box stores, they have to charge sales tax and shipping, we don't. It definitely is worth every penny and every minute of time it takes to manage it.

Thumbs up for Monica answer.
I can only add in my experience google shopping campaigns are worth every cent. CPA is yummy.

Google shopping doesn't run off of key terms at all. It runs off of the attributes of your products. You have to create a shopping campaign in Google AdWords in order for your products to be displayed. The products are submitted to merchant center, then you add them to a shopping campaign in Adwords. Here is a video with instructions. Make sure that you are starting with high bids and budgets. This is the best way to get a large amount of data in a short amount of time.
You will want to frequently check your search terms by going to the keywords tab, hitting details, and under search terms, select all. The only way to control your campaign is with negative keywords. Adding keywords to the ad groups WILL NOT matter. (I had to learn this the hard way) I set up each of my products in its own ad group in order to better determine CTR, what my CPC should actually be and negative keywords. This was the most effective way for me to do it. Some of my products ended up being grouped together in one ad group because I have over 1000 products in Google Shopping. I tried to minimize it as much as possible.
If you need help with this, just give Google a call. They are super helpful with setting up these campaigns and ad groups.

in short - yes, this used to be a free channel until about 18 months ago and drove a lot of traffic however that traffic is still there and more (now its in the SERPs) you just got to pay for it and its quite expensive for certain keywords.

Hi,
Here I am providing you few checkpoints either of them could be reason for not showing your products in Google shopping.
(1) google may sometimes take 24-72 hours or so
before a properly processed data-feed can be seen
within the adwords account; the feed must be valid.(2) be certain a product_type attribute is submitted
using plain text and > separated taxonomy data ; e.g.
Toys > Wagons
https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/188494#product_type(3) product-targets are for regular-product-listing-ad-campaigns;
shopping-campaigns use product-groups to create groups of
items to assign bids.

Hope this helps
Thanks

Disparities between AdWords clicks and Analytics sessions
Hi all, Have an Analytics account connected to my AdWords account which is showing HUGE gulfs in clicks and sessions for a CPM campaign. 500 clicks = 0 sessions. Does anyone have any idea why this could be the case? Auto-tagging is on and everything looks to be in place. The website itself is on a 303 so I was wondering could that be impacting things? The CPC is also just 1p so that's got me very suspicious. Thanks in advance.

Why do some Adwords agencies insist on setting up Adwords in their own account?
I'm an online marketing consultant and I work with a variety of agencies who handle Adwords. I keep running into an issue where agencies want to set up Adwords in a proprietary account for my clients rather than in the client's account and manage it through MCC. I have just run into again and this time the agency claims they are protecting their Adwords "secret sauce" but that the client will still have full access to keywords, negative keywords, Ad copy, etc. It just doesn't pass the sniff test with me. Can anyone tell me if there are some legitimate reasons for an agency to do this other than to simply try to hold data hostage so that clients can't leave them without loss? I am inclined to tell my client they should run away screaming, but thought I would bounce it off you smart people first. Thanks!

A Call From Google (Not a Question but the Moderators said to Put this Here)
This is not going to be a long post but I wanted to get something out there that a lot of other business owners might not understand. I have several different PPC campaigns that my business partner and I personally run. The campaigns are all doing quite well with a high rate of return. Never has Google contacted me (other than for surveys, which I did wind up receiving 5 blue gym bags with the Google insignia on them) and never did I think they would. The campaign they called me on wasn’t a particularly large campaign. Right now the PPC spend is around 3000/month. I understand this isn’t a little bit of money, but at the same time it’s not in the millions like most of Google’s top sites. The thing that concerned me most was the reason for their call. A nice woman introduced herself and said that the campaigns were nicely run except for a few changes. She went on to tell me of a couple of updates in the PPC realm (this happened to me yesterday – Feb 28). She said within the past few months they were rolling out a new way to target their content network and for most people they were able to save 35% (that was a number she mentioned) with the tactics she was going to suggest. My background lies in mathematics and finance (somewhat related) and I tend to know when I am either being sold or being tricked into being sold. Through the whole list of things she mentioned that would help as she was walking me through she mentioned that it was a good idea to up the bid on the content network. That way we would have more chances of being seen and it would help with out conversions. This by itself seems like decent advice, but our bid for the content network is not cheap. If they are calling every small – medium business and telling them to up their bids, we are going to have a dilemma on our hands. The dilemma being that the AdWords placement is going to cost a heck of a lot more. She said that even if we up our bid, we are not likely to pay the full amount. She wants us to have a repeat conversation on Monday. One side of me was a little upset after the conversation but all they are doing is simply up-selling. They are raising the rates through what I guess are fair business practices. A lot of business owners might just take the advice of a Google representative and not think twice about it. This means we have thousands to hundreds of thousands of people at this very moment upping the bid on their content network. If they can even get a small proportion of people to increase their bids - let's say 10% - the other 90% will start getting less shows and eventually increase their bids. Also, the people that have higher bid amounts in but aren't paying the full amount will start getting closer and closer to the amount they put in as their maximum bid. This wouldn’t be alarming to me but this is the first and only time I have ever heard from a Google representative. I can’t say I didn’t see this coming but at the same time I was definitely taken aback. I am curious to know what the MOZ community has to say.

AdWords Negative Keywords
Hello community! I got a bit stuck with negative keywords management today! I have updated the negative keyword list and as it can be shared among all my active campaign I put it into the shared library. But when I downloaded the recent changes on Editor I can't get to see the new negatives and I can't check their match types. Do I have to upload the list on Editor for each campaign? Thanks

Content Network Clicks Not Count as Paid Search
So I've been noticing that the "searches" being recorded in Omniture for my paid search campaigns are closer to the total number of clicks that I get on my "search" campaign. However, when I look at the total number of clicks the discrepancy between the two is high...I'm talking 30 to 40% difference.... So I was thinking that perhaps neither Omniture nor Google Analytics really count clicks coming from the "Content Network" as searches or visits? Would anyone agree to this, or does anyone have any other clever ideas? Thanks!! -Margarita
