Question on Google's Site: Search
-
A client currently has two domains with the same content on each. When I pull up a Cached version of the site, I noticed that it has a Cache of the correct page on it. However, when I do a site: in Google, I am seeing the domain that we don't want Google indexing. Is this a problem? There is no canonical tag and I'm not sure how Google knows to cache the correct website but it does. I'm assuming they have this set in webmaster tools?
Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks!

Okay that is what I figured. Thank you

OH! I am sorry for the confusion - yes, pick the site you want to index and redirect the site you don't want to be indexed over to the new site.
To answer your question, yes, both sites are being indexed.

Hi Patrick,
The name of the business is fairly long so they decided to purchase a shortened version of the site but I believe setting up a redirect would be the best solution... But as for my question, if I do a site: in google and both websites are populating the search results, does this mean that Google is indexing two versions of the website?

Hi there
You will want to add canonical tags to the indexing site to the site you want indexed. Is there a particular reason you have two sites?

Is there an easy way to hide one of your URL's on google search?, rather than redirecting?
We don't want to redirect to a different page, as some people still use it, we just don't want it to appear in search

Do I submit a sitemap for a highly dynamic site or not? If so, what's the best way to go about doing it?
I do SEO for online boutique marketplace. I've been here for about 4 weeks and no one's done there SEO (they've been around for about 5 years), so there's lots to do. A big concern is whether or not to submit a sitemap, and if I do submit one, what's the best way to go about doing one.

Link's that are an internal site search?
Hi hope your're all well. I sell Red, Blue, Green Widgets within each color I have many sub types, the subtypes change all the time, and a sub type has many variations in itself. I'd like to set up links that direct customers to popular searches of sub types say: widgets.com/red/blue-spots....search string... Will Google crawl these search links and see that there is good content behind it? How does Google handle links that are also a site search? Can it be bad and should I "no follow" them? Hope someone can give me some direction on these, many thanks in advance!

Why is my site crawled so much more in Bing then in Google?
I recently setup Cloudflare so I can see how much my site is being crawled. It looks like Bing is crawling me about 3 times as much as Google. Any ideas on why that would be or what I should check?

Meta keywords shown in Google SERPS as site description
I'm seeing Google display meta-keywords in the SERP description for some sites (at least a half dozen that I've checked). I BELIEVE IT IS AN AJAX ISSUE BECAUSE: The sites all use AJAX to display content. So the meta-keywords are in the header, and the javascript that displays the content. Non-AJAX parts of the site display properly in Google SERPS The meta-keywords don't visibly appear anywhere on the page. When I turn off images and Javascript in Chrome I don't see any hidden keyword text. I BELIEVE IT IS A GOOGLE-SPECIFIC ISSUE BECAUSE: Each site displays properly in Bing and Yahoo SERPS - the meta-description is the description. However, (as expected) I see the same strange meta-keyword activity in Aol search In Screaming Frog's SERP preview I see the meta-description as the description. Google has been ignoring met-keywords for years. Any idea why it's appearing in the SERPS for these AJAX powered sites? I found one other person who saw that Google may be reading and displaying their content in AJAX even though that content is meant to appear on a different "page". No one on that Google Forum seemed to understand the person's problem. The only reason I get it is because now I'm seeing it with my own eyes. I know the Moz community can do better, so i'm posting about it here.

Site not coming up even when I search with the .com
We have a customer whose site: http://camilojosevergara.com doesn't show up even when you search for his exact domain. http://bit.ly/18RjPPX Wondering why that is. Is it because wikipedia and the other links rank higher? I've submitted his sitemap to google so I'm trying to figure out why its not showing up. Any tips/recommendations to fix this would be greatly appreciated. thanks
