Re-Direct or 410
-
We have an ecommerce site. If we have a product that is not going to be available again and the url of the product is not in the Google index should we re-direct it to a category page or do a 410?
Thank you as always in advance.

Thank you for the advice. I am not keen on leaving pages with no products to offer as I do feel it may annoy customers.

Thank you for your reply. I will go with your advice.

Sounds good, but the page isn't in the index...
John - I would redirect, but the I'm a belt and braces kind of person.

Have you considered leaving the product page in place for people still searching for the item.
Providing you clearly state it is no longer for sale, you could have some similar product cross sells. That way you still have a bite at the apple when customer land looking for these products from search engines. This could be beneficial especially if it was a popular product.

We recently updated a large guide that takes the place of the original. The original has some nice organic traffic to it and I don't want to risk losing it. Should I 301 redirect to the new version, or update all the info directly on the original page?
We don't have a lot of content that garners much non-branded organic, so this is something I don't want to risk losing. We do not have a whole lot of external links into the page either.

What are good tests to propose different SEO agencies when you're trying to vet them?
We are trying to narrow down our SEO agency list and I was told to propose 5 different tests. I'm not sure where to start. I also want these tests to help me understand what these companies can do for mine.

How to re-follow using the WPSEO plugin
Hello, I unindexed numerous blog low quality blog posts and nofollowed them at the same time using the Advanced meta tab for the Yoast WPSEO plugin. I am trying to reindex them, which I figured out and can successfully do, What I cannot figure out is these posts will not return to follow status and remain nofollow. I have been recreating the blog posts, but this is very time consuming. Is there some way to do this without have to reduplicate a new blog post? I Googled this and searched MOZ with no luck. thank you Mike

Re-naming pages without affecting SEO
Due to the management software used for a lot of our websites, the URLs for specific pages appears as: brand.com/page/pagename/number I want to add slug URLs so that they appear as: brand.com/pagename First of all, do you think this is an effective use of my time and will it significantly benefit SEO in the long run. Secondly, these pages have developed a decent PA over time and I don't want to lose that. Will adding 301s for all the renamed pages be enough to not have a negative effect?

Corporate Re-Branding, How to best lead into new website?
I have a company that is going to be moving away from a name they have had for 40 years, into a name they have had for the past 10. They are becoming a bigger brand in Canada and want to move away from the west coast name. http://www.wcmachinery.net/ is becoming obsolete. http://shearforce.ca/ will be taking over for both sites. Both of the websites are identically built by a previous web company. The current root domain metrics are shown in the image provided. What do you Mozzers feel would be the best way to phase out the old site without losing the little bit of domain authority wcmachinery.net has gained? west coast machinery is also well know to its customers, so getting the branded search traffic to the shearforce site is also a priority. I am fairly certain this can be handled easily in the about page where it explains the relationship between the two companies. As a side note I have not performed any SEO work on either site as of yet. So please do not judge me based on this site! Thanks for your insights, Randy edit edit

Will Google re-index the page if content is changed/improved?
Hello,
On-Page Optimization | | wickedsunny1
i have a little question, it seems most of my posts which are 3 years old or even more, all have almost same type of 2-3 lines of text at post starting and then images roundups etc.
which recently stopped getting any traffic from google. Probably becuase of lack in text etc.
So if i now edit those old pages, will they be reindexed in google with this new content/data?
thanks in advance.

Hi . I have a question regarding a surge in 302 temporary direct errors following reactivation of my site reviews.
Hi. i submitted the following question to the support team at volusion regarding a large number of 302 temporary redirects on the SEOMOZ crawl of following the reactivation of product reviews on my website. Here is the question and their response. Any opinions. Thanks TRANSCRIPT: Hi Howard, Looking at the link you have referenced, this page is unable to be accessed unless you are logged into your site, so SEO isn't applicable for the page. We would not be able to change the 302 redirect for this page. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions. Thanks,

Here for you 24x7x365 Volusion Support Check out our online support: http://support.volusion.com | 4 days ago (102hrs ago) [8/19/2012 10:06:00 AM] by Customer || Hi . I had a report of 302 temporary redirects when SEO moz did a simulated site crawl. This is an example of the address of one of the many 302 temporary redirect errors which I think consume link juice or have some type of negative effect on SEO. http://www.mrgrabbar.com/reviewhelpful.asp?ProductCode=GT100&ID=562&yes=yes Since it is a live link I cannot seem to redirect it with a 301 redirect in the redirect manager. Is there anything I can do to handle these temporary redirects. They only are appearing now since I reactivated my reviews and I am concerned about the SEO effect that this may soon have.
