How to promote your blog content
-
Hi there,
we've been blogging for a while now. Some of our content ranks quit well, other posts don't seem to be ranking at all.
The weird thing (I think it's weird...) is that we recently published a post and focussed on a phrase that competes with over 400 million indexed pages, and after 3 weeks we're on page 3, and for other posts with only 2.5 million indexed pages we rank past page 5 (ok, this post is already 1,5 year old, does this matter?).
To give you some background info, we moved our blog in January in a new subdomain, and redirected the old url's, but didn't actively promote the old posts.
-
Would promoting the old articles through social media help us boost the rankings for these articles (the articles are "best practices", "how-to's", ...).
-
Where / how do you promote your content after you published it on your blog? I find it hard posting in LinkedIn groups related to finance while I have the "online marketing manager" title on my profile. Why would a finance professional read an article shared by a marketing dude?
-
As LinkedIn's API doensn't allow to post into groups anymore, do you actually go through all your relevant groups every time you publish a new blog to share the article?

Hi there
I would check out the answer I put in this Q+A about starting a blog first.
From there, looking into brand building through these paid opportunities:
-
Also look into posting on Linked with a tagged URL giving credit to the original post on site
That being said, ALWAYS utilize relevant social platforms and partnerships from the organic standpoint (not buying ads, just posting). To answer your first and third questions:
1.) Yes, also see if any of that content can be repurposed or updated as well.
3.) I actually do go through all relevant groups and post. Make sure you tag your URLsso you can track your performance across social platforms with your distribution.Hope this helps! Good luck!

I'm sorry when I say re-post I mean the original content to social media and other sources meaning not the first time it has been posted. You can update the original posts to reflect new data, content, or re-optimize for new keywords if the originals are not working.
-
When you re-post, do you keep the original post in place or redirect it to the new post?
-
I have had great luck re-posting older blog posts to google+, stumble upon, and to a lesser effect Facebook. Twitter can always help too. Its ok to rehash old posts make changes to them to reflect current information then re-post. You can also optimize them for new keywords and try top expand their reach. Do an outreach campaign and try to get others to link to your posts to increase traffic as well. Keep in mind social markers are only part of it, If the content is not relevant to today current trending topics it may loose ranking.

URL Structure for Blog
Hi guys, Hope you are all doing well today. I have a questions with regards to our blog URL structure. The URL for the blog is /blog - however when you click on a blog post the "/blog" disappears completely and is replaced by the title of the post. So it is ".com/title-of-post" for example. Would it be better to keep the blog subdomain in the URL so it is ".com/blog/title-of-article" Any insight would be appreciated. My thoughts are that surely the second option above is ideal? Thanks Tom

Promoting blog content
I've created a pinterest board, which kind of serves as a blog also as it tells people how they can save money on their heating bills this winter. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to promote it as a backlinking opportunity? Would it be good to also feature the content on our website? Guest blogging? Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thank you.

How can I rank using translated content?
My friend has a website with similar content to mine, in a different language however. He has allowed me to translate his content if I link to it every post (can be nofollow). Does Google penalize me for clearly translated content? How can I make sure it ranks well? BTW, if I convince him that I don't link to him, is it better SEO-wise? Best,

Blog at blogspot
Hi My website provider doesnt yet have the function to integrate blog under my domain name so the blog is at blogspot. Inevitably there will be quite some links going from blog to differnet pages on my site. I havent yet incorporated a clickable link from my homepage to blog. I am not sure wether to do this or not. Will this just reduce the value of the links going from the blog ? Thanks
