Weird referral data. Spam?
-
Hi all,
a few of my sites are suffering from referral spam. I read a couple of articles here on how to exclude them from your traffic using htaccess but today I was going through some referral stats of the company I work for and I noticed a lot of referral traffic coming from
I didn't find any article telling me this is spam, so it could also be an intranet of one of our clients where they are sending their employees to our application.
Anybody a clue what this could be?

Thanks Tim,
found out that the domain is registered by a partner of us. They have several webpages where their clients can signup for our service using a single sign on. This is causing the spike in referral traffic, but as it's only a certain call their doing they must not be included in our stats so need to set up some GA filters.
Cheers,

Have you done a who.is search on the domain to see if that provides any clues. You may then be able to find out if it is a client etc.

I have not heard of it from a spam referral point of view, but that does not mean it is not a new one on the scene. To remove this referral traffic filter your analytics by hostname to remove it if needed.

Keyword Opportunities in Insights Area Suggest SPAM Keywords?
Happy Holidays Moz family, We were recently reviewing our insights on an account and the keywords suggested were: 1. malibog pinoy sex story 2. desi bhabhi ki chudai 3. cennai mamies pundai mulai Clearly these are SPAM or something. We have run malware scans of the site, used Google Webmaster tools to identify incoming and outgoing links and don't see anything. I have also exported the entire site to Notepad++ and searched for these terms. Nothing. Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you in advance for any suggestions! We're having some ranking issues with the same site so perhaps this is the root of the issue. The site has some great links.

Hey guys, any advice on why my 'search analytics' in Google Webmaster tools is blank with no data?
I have added all the website versions into Google web master tools and I have no crawl errors. When I click on Search traffic these pages are blank - search analytics, & Mobile usability. And When I fetch as Google the status is constantly saying me 'temporarily unreachable' - any help would be greatly appreciated.

Referral Exclusion List - Data Questsion
This may seem like a silly question. Since we are having an issue with self-referrals, we checked all the pages and everything is tagged properly, I used the referral exclusion list to exclude our domains. Question is, since we had a large number of our revenue coming in from the self-referring traffic, what happens to that revenue data once I add our domains to the referral exclusion list?

Traffic Down for Most Referrers - not just Google
Our traffic has taken a severe hit, over the past 3 weeks - down about 60%, which I had assumed was caused by the Penguin update. However on closer inspection of our analytics, our traffic is is down by between 30 and 50% for nearly all our referrers - including Bing and other search engines, referring sites, and even direct traffic! Google provides the vast majority of our traffic, so in terms of the absolute visitor count, the drop in Google traffic has the biggest effect - by some distance. But the fact that traffic is down by similar percentages suggest that Penguin isn't the cause of our troubles at all. We sell garden products in the UK, and it's just coming into peak season. Last year, May was one of our top months, External conditions - such as the very wet weather over the past month, economic gloom and doom - don't begin to explain this sudden and dramatic drop in traffic. We are very perplexed. If anyone has any bright ideas, I'd be interested to hear them. Ben

Transfer Google Analytics data from one user to another?
Long story short, two weeks of analytics data are stored on a different profile from the rest of the year's data. Is there a way to export all data from a date range, and then import it to another account? Thanks for your help.
