How to make this informational site successful
-
Hello,
We've got a problem with one of our sites. Our main writer is too advanced for the mainstream SERPs. She is a genius at what she does and really writes beyond where the mainstream looks. Way beyond. I can't even ask her to dumb down, it doesn't make sense. I don't think we're going to hit any of the main (mainstream) keywords with this site because of it, which is fine, but what advice do you have to making money off ads with content like that? There doesn't even really exist keywords for her articles. It's hard to explain. The traffic will be small because the audience is large enough if we got the whole thing but small compared with mainstream. I think mainly experts will understand her.
The area of writing is conspiracy, fringe, ancient knowledge, progressive science, healing, consciousness, spirituality.
I guess I'm wondering what you guys would do. It would be great if this site could make a good income. She's been studying the topic nonstop for fifteen years.
Thanks.

Option 1 - If you want to reach out to the mainstream - Tier your information out. I have a site that is meant for the general public on a given health issue. If you have the health professionals write the articles, they are way too technical for the general public, but it is information that the public needs (and ultimately wants). We hired a journalist/editor to work with editors on writing things that go on the everyday blog type items and social media. The health professionals give input into the topics etc, but we let the journalist/editor do the writing. The articles are fact checked to make sure that they are accurate, but we try not to edit too much. We then have a second level of content that is more advanced and is really the reference section of the site. When topics get too complex for the blog, we link to the reference articles if they need to read more. It is a classic hub and spoke type setup, but we find it works for blog vs reference type of articles. On the reference articles, we do get a little more technical, some more than others. We do not feel that this is "dumbing it down" per se, but making it more accessible.
Option 2 - If you only care about the experts, play to that niche and see if you can find topics that may have low search volume, convert really well. Give the site more of an exclusive feel to it. You actually may be surprised at how "non-experts" want to find and read that information. If you layered this in with Option 1, you could hit both audiences potentially.
Good luck!

Main Site Social Media SEO impact on different product specific site
Hi, Few months ago I have created a minisite for a particular product category for the online store Giftcampaign.es with a different domain name. The idea was to focus this minisite on selling personalized usb memories and to have a different design, functionality and content that the main one (the site is http://www.usbpersonalizado.es). What I have done here is to link on my site the Social Markers of Facebook and LinkedIn of the parent site GiftCampaign.es, as we are not planning to open and maintain an account for those social networks, and we are already maintaining the ones for the parent site. I would like to know if the SEO Positioning of my minisite can benefit from the links of the Social Networks of the parent site or whether it makes not really an impact in SEO positioning unless I create and maintain new social network accounts for the different minisites that I create with different domain names. I look forward for your response. Best regards, Oriol .

My site has dropped, I'm a little lost - help
Hi guys, my site www.platesbypost.co.uk ranked #1 for replacement number plates for years about 6 months ago it dropped to 3rd then 5th now 8th. As a result the traffic has dropped off a cliff. Some of the sites above me don't look stronger on moz's metrics. About two weeks ago I had an unnatural external links notice in webmaster tools, I no followed all external links in the blog and sent a reconsideration request the day I had the notice and it was revoked within a week. The rankings didn't seem to be effected by the manual action notice. I would welcome any help you can give me.

How would you increase rankings if you were in charge of the SEO for this site
Hello, For the site nlpca.com How would you get them to the #2 spot for "NLP" and the #2 spot for "NLP Training" They won't do link building due to reputation in the industry. They're open to Google+ and the +1 button. They are willing to add stellar targeted authoritative content. They're adding a blog and comprehensive "What is NLP?" article. They are a "Top 5" authority in the field. Thanks.

Infographic/Link Bait idea. Unrelated to my site though, suggestions?
Question, been thinking of some link bait infographic ideas for my site www.jobshadow.com I've got a couple in the careers/job niche but the one I think would be best is completely unrelated. I study free market economics a lot and want to debunk the whole 'deflation' debate that is on the news these days. The overall gist would be to do so with a history of Apple products showing why falling prices aren't anything to be afraid of. Given that it's econ/techie related(even non econ people would find this graphic neat I think) and not specific to the 'career hunting' and job searching my site is I'm curious what people suggest. Give it a shot and release on our blog anyway? Or trade it to someone else in a more relative niche(assuming the graphic gets built, I know ideas are relatively cheap:).
