Need Help - Google has picked up an overseas company with the same name and put it in search on the right
-
Hi All,
Google has picked up a competitors logo from overseas (same name) and input it with the wikipedia excerpt on the right hand side of search.
What the heck can I do to get this removed as its a serious legal/brand issue. See URL - http://www.google.com.au/webhp?nord=1&gws_rd=cr&ei=GcMeVuS0CMq-0gSR7Lm4BA#nord=1&q=cfcu
Hope someone can help !!
Cheers
Dave

Hi David,
This is not an uncommon issue. See:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/business/lYNM9SSJOso
and also
http://localu.org/blog/8-tips-optimize-local-knowledge-panel-google-search/
I recommend you create a thread in the Google forum (above) and if that doesn't work, that you get on the phone with Google via the contact button here: https://support.google.com/business/?hl=en&rd=1#topic=4539639
Hope this helps!

The turn around is hard to predict. I would ask as many Moz forum members to do what you and I did from a desktop and mobile device.

Hi CleverPHD,
Thanks for your response - I have already reported the feedback as you suggested above. I'm obviously just concerned as it could potentially be causing a level of confusion for our customers.
What sort of turn around could you expect off hand?
Cheers
Dave

Looks like Google is pulling from a US based Yelp profile for a company with the same name. Strange considering this is Google.com.au
I checked your logo markup on your site http://www.communityfirst.com.au/Assets/1333/CFCU_logo_cent_RGB_square.png and it checks out ok in the structured data testing tool https://developers.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/
Here is what you need to do. If you look at your search result, right under the logo and Wikipedia snippet there is a link labeled "Feedback". Click that and follow the instructions to let Google know about the error.
Remember these are all computers making assumptions and nobody is perfect.

Matching page for keyword doesn't show in search
Hello! I'm having an issue with my website Rooms Index, the website is in Hebrew so I'll provide examples in English for better understandings. When I'm searching Rooms by Hour in Haifa, google doesn't show the intended category page which is this, instead it shows my homepage in the results, this happens only for certain areas, while other areas are working well such as Tel aviv. For example if I searched day use in Las Vegas it'd show me the Las Vegas page dayuse.com/las-vegas, but searching for Brooklyn I'd only see dayuse.com. the pages are indexed and I can find them if I search site:roomsindex.co.il what could cause such problem?

Ecommerce Site Structure -- "/our_locations" page: helpful or harmful?
Hello! We are a retailer with brick and mortar stores in different cities. We have a website (ourbusiness.com), which includes a blog (ourbusiness.com/blog) and a separate ecommerce site for each store in subfolders (ourbusiness.com/Boston-store and ourbusiness.com/Atlanta-store). NB: We do this for non-business reasons and have no choice. So, this is not like REI (for example) or other stores with lots of locations but one central ecommerce operation. Most experts seem to recommend a site structure that echoes REIs. IE: a home page principally devoted to ecommerce (rei.com) includes an Our Locations-type page (rei.com/stores) which links to local store pages like (rei.com/stores/fresno) I understand how this would help REI, since their homepage is devoted to ecommerce and they need a store locator page that doesn't compete with the shopping experience. But since we can't send people to products directly from our home page, is there any reason for us not to put the store locator function right on the home page? That is, is there any reason in our case to prefer (A) ourbusiness.com/our_locations/Boston_store over (B) ourbusiness.com/Boston-store? As i see it, the extra page (/our_locations/) could actually hurt, as it puts products one click further away from customers, and one link deeper for bots. On the other hand, it may make the multi-store structure clearer to bots (and maybe people) and help us in local search. Finally, would it make a difference if there were 10 stores vs 2? Thanks for any thoughts!

Optimizing dog walking site for search phrase "dog walkers nyc"
Background: We have a dog walking company that serves NYC. According to our AdWords campaign, most leads come from the search phrase: "dog walkers nyc." Question: If the goal is to get as much organic traffic as possible for the search phrase "dog walkers nyc," should we just optimize our http://barkbud.com/ domain for the search phrase "dog walkers nyc," OR should we also have a page like http://barkbud.com/dog-walkers-nyc/ optimized for the same phrase? Thanks!

Is this an example of bad doorway pages or perfectly fine and helping users?
I'm asking because I want to do something similar. http://bit.ly/1puGXJu Imagine hundreds of pages like this, with the city names switched out. Since the inventory is different on each page, due to different inventory in different cities, are these pages not considered doorway pages and Google will probably be fine with them?

SEO for a homepage... What do you put? Focus on the brand or products?
Hi to all. Ok so I am curious how to format and seo a website homepage? This question is more in the way of dedicated towards how to rank locally if you have multiple services? See I have a construction website and we have many services. So do you try and format the homepage to promote the brand, or do you go after the services? Like would you say hey we are this company we serve here and here, and basically make it an about us page? or do you say hey this is who we are, but say we do this, that, and the other? I am afraid that although I have a webpage for each service, if the main url gets the link juice right now, how should a homepage be? Thank you for any tips or suggestions. Chris
