Aggregate review schema
-
Hi Guys, Im working with a SaaS client in the flatmate sharing industry and I need to ask the following:
Here's a screenshot showing the reviews people have submitted.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/2ra6cdb5w609o8d/Screen Shot 2016-01-13 at 2.46.12 pm.png?dl=01-Is there a chance Google will include these reviews as it doesn't have a way of checking if they are real? They are in this case so that's why would be great to include them.
2- the stars don't seem to be in html, how can we mark the stars to be indexed by google?
I want to include this schema
https://developers.google.com/structured-data/rich-snippets/reviews#aggregate_ratingsI don't think we would be able to full-fill these items, what do you think?
<code>spanvocab="http://schema.org/"typeof="Review"> <span< span="">property="itemReviewed"typeof="Thing"> <span< span="">property="name">Super Book This is not a boook is a service, what should I put here?</span<></span<> <span< span="">property="author"typeof="Person"> <span< span="">property="name">Joe</span<></span<> <span< span="">property="reviewRating"typeof="Rating"> Rating: <span< span="">property="ratingValue">7</span<> out of <span< span="">property="bestRating">10</span<></span<> <span< span="">property="publisher"typeof="Organization"> Whato this property means? Reviews are made by customers not organizations. <meta< span="">property="name"content="Washington Times"> same as abobe, they are not publishers.</meta<></span<></code>
If you could help me it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
<code>Nico</code>

Hi Nico,
Tim's example should get you what you need to mark up your aggregate ratings correctly. I wanted to take a minute to address your other questions.
Anything between the and tags in an example is something you should customize to your content. So in the example above, <spanproperty="name">Super Book, you would replace "Super Book" with whatever the name of the product being reviewed is. For any example of Schema markup, if the example includes information that isn't on your page, you can just delete those properties.</spanproperty="name">
For Publisher markup, the "publisher" isn't the person who wrote the review, it's the website as a whole (that's you) that is publishing the content.
In terms of whether or not Google will include the ratings snippet since it can't verify whether ratings are real, in my experience they will especially if you have a good volume of reviews.

Hi Nicolas, the dropbox link 404'd, the above schema you are showing is for reviews, and not for aggregate reviews.
Reviews are per individual item and should be related to the product on the page etc. This will not display any HTML stars in your Organic serp results in Google.
For aggregate results you will need to use another method that in effect calculates a total score based on all of the reviews accrued. You can definately use this for service based products etc.
<div itemscope itemtype="http: schema.org="" product"=""><span itemprop="name">Service
<div itemprop="aggregaterating" itemscope itemtype="http: schema.org="" aggregaterating"="">Rated 3.5/5 based on 11 customer reviews<./div>
Something like this should do the trick. If you are storing your reviews via an external site I would also add in an itemprop for url to source them back to the original source for justification.
The above should results in you achieving a star rating in your organic serps.
You can visually add in your own stars to your site to make it look more appealing.</div itemprop="aggregaterating" itemscope itemtype="http:></span itemprop="name"></div itemscope itemtype="http:>

Category Page as Shopping Aggregator Page
Hi, I have been reviewing the info from Google on structured data for products and started to ponder.

https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/products Here is the scenario.
You have a Category Page and it lists 8 products, each products shows an image, price and review rating. As the individual products pages are already marked up they display Rich Snippets in the serps.
I wonder how do we get the rich snippets for the category page. Now Google suggest a markup for shopping aggregator pages that lists a single product, along with information about different sellers offering that product but nothing for categories. My ponder is this, Can we use the shopping aggregator markup for category pages to achieve the coveted rich results (from and to price, average reviews)? Keen to hear from anyone who has had any thoughts on the matter or had already tried this.0 -
Schema.org for Hotels
Good morning, I have a question about how to use Schema.org on a hotel website. Since a website will have many pages, do I add the microdata for the hotel's address, contact info, ratings, reviews, etc on every page as that information is in the footer of each page or do I just add to the homepage once? Thanks in advance

Schema question
Hi all, We have two Trustpilot schemas (Local Business) on our web pages ( One on desktop / one on mobile) but we are finding that it is not updating the number of reviews in the search results. When using the tool : https://developers.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/ , the test results are coming back ok. I have two ideas as to why it may not be working; 1) The duplication of the schema code is causing issues 2) We had to change the html code for all of our 50+ backend pages using a search&replace WordPress plugin to save a vast amount of time. Maybe this is plugin related? The fact that the google testing tool gives back positive results adds to the confusion. I test both of the theorised issues to see if it provides a fixes. Can anyone shed some further light on this issue? Is there something obvious I am missing? All responses are greatly appreciated! Thanks, Tom p.s. Scaling with schema markup
Right now, the only way I know to do schema markup is through hard coding the designated area where the information is located on the site. I'm thinking about developing an option in a WYSIWYG that allows for basic schema implementation to make it easier for multiple users of experience levels. Does anyone have any examples, tools, or tips for making schema scalable? I want to do a good job with this, but the site I am working on has thousands of pages and multiple "owners."

Local Business schema / markup
What markup should local businesses employ on their website? I'm aware of the newer schema.org markup but does Google still use rich snippets, geotags, etc.?
