Rank Tracker Tool Accurate?
-
Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if you all have been noticing inaccurate information in the rank tracker tool.
Many terms are showing not in top 50, yet when i search from random devices that have never accessed my website before i find the url to be in the top 50.
Anyone experiencing similar issues and anyone have any ideas why the inconsistency?
Thanks

Curious how rank tracker has been impacted by Google's removal of the location filter? It would seem that getting location agnostic requests (United States for example) would be significantly more difficult at scale. I've heard chatter of a few tools having issues now.

Hello!
There can indeed be fluctuations in the rankings, as Alvaro has indicated, and I agree that setting up a campaign to track your progress if a top idea.
There can be a few reasons why the rankings might look different when you do a manual search, but it sounds like you have combatted the main one by running manual searches when signed out of your Google account and in an incognito browser to avoid any personalised results skewing the rankings.
However it's worth noting that even if you're logged out of your Google/search engine account other elements, such as geography and search history can also influence ranking positions. So, there can be a lot of variation in what different people, searching from different computers/locations, might see in the rankings.
The tool runs searches from a variety of IP addresses and IP blocks using non-personalized, search history/location-agnostic requests. In our experience these have provided the most accurate results, showing what the "most" users see, though we know there's still quite a bit of room for fluctuation!
If you're still stuck, please do pop us a message at support with the keyword and URL so we can take a closer look, [email protected].
Cheers!
Jo

Yeah, me too me that happens.
Rank tracker results are different from day to day and may not be accurate at the time. They help to show an approximation.
If you have a campaign Moz Pro Home weekly results for the keywords you have selected are updated. This tool is more accurate and will help you see the progress on your SEO.

Location National vs. Country - Different Ranking
Why is the ranking for a keyword different for the locations National and for example Austria ... both should bring the ranking for the whole country, but often they are different?

Keyword Volume - as compared to keyword planner and other tools.
Hi in the rankings for my keywords, the monthly range is so much lower than other keyword tools I use, including google keyword planner, semrush and longtail pro (which all match and show a number much higher than Moz). Support said it's because those tools may group like keywords or singular/plural versions where Moz truly separates each term as a separate term, hence more specific and precise. My question is: If google does somewhat group plural/singular and close match keywords, then wouldn’t it not matter anyways - if someone types a close match keyword and my keyword ends up triggering/displaying as if they typed my targeted keyword - then wouldn’t it still fall under the larger number if in the end it works in displaying my website as a result? If google changes search "blue sky" to "sky that is blue", and you get the same ranking for either of those two keywords then in the end does it matter? I'm thrown for a loop as I spent time optimizing my website based on numbers I received from the other tools and now seeing a much lower number for said keywords and possibly a little higher for a different variation of it, I don't know what to do.

How can a page have high Google/ organic traffic but show no ranking keywords in Moz?
We have a page on our website with a higher than average number of pageviews, 85% of which came from Google organic search. When I research this page by entering the URL into the "exact page" keyword research tool, Moz says it has no ranking keywords. How can a page be earning organic traffic without ranking for any keywords?

Monthly Ranking Comparisons on Custom Reports
Hi, We run MONTHLY Moz custom reports that compares rankings from the previous month, but some of the data just doesn't make sense. As an example, in the previous month’s report our ranking for “keyword X” was #3, when we look at the current month’s report our ranking for “keyword X” is still #3, but it shows that it’s gone up by 3 positions. This position change is not true if you compare to the previous month’s report! How can we know what dates we are comparing against? All the best, Lee.

How do I pull a rankings report for a specific week in the past?
The date of the rankings I want is January 13th. I can see the individual keyword history in rank tracker, but I have to go each word. I'd like to just have that report to compare it to, since that is when a lot of our rankings changed. So I need that report to compare our future efforts with. Please advise and thank you! Ruben

Rank Tracker won't update rank
Hi all, Is anybody else having trouble with Rank Tracker this morning? It doesn't want to play with me today. It just hangs when the update rank button is clicked. They all go orange/amber and think about it for a while but never update. Any ideas?

Bing data in the keyword difficulty and SERP analysis tool
Hi Guys, I'm wondering about the exact match bing data in the Moz KWD & SERP analysis tool. We're looking at the ranking difficulty for given terms in Google but getting exact match bing numbers. Is the tool estimating Google searches from the bing data (perhaps a simple formula assuming maybe 10% search totals for Bing, 60% for Google or whatever is closest these days) or is it just raw bing numbers that we then have to upsize in order to estimate search numbers in Google? Hope that makes some kind of sense! In other words - how are you guys using that Bing data when considering terms to target using this tool? Look forward to hearing your thoughts.
