Basic SERP report does really gives me useful information?
-
Hi There!
Ive seen so many times in the Basic SERP report, that pages/domains with low values are at the TOP of the SERP report, and i dont really understand that why can this be? I also have the same low values but i cant move higher for a keyword and i thought there is no question, i should improve my content/site, etc...
But still dont understand why i see so many times that other domain/pages with lower values are at the top?
On the attached screenshot, i am in the 12th position...
Thx
E.

Hi Endre! If you haven't you may want to try running a _full _SERP report on those terms using the blue button in the upper-right of that screenshot. It compares a lot more ranking factors, and might give you a better idea of what's going of.

Old site name showing in SERPs
Hi all, We've recently re-launched one of our sites with a substantial redesign, refreshed content, meta data, descriptions and functionality. We noticed in SERPs that some of the page titles are showing the old name for the site, which hasn't been used for a few years and the site's been through a few updates and a URL change since then. All the meta titles showing up as they should in crawls through Search Console and Moz and it's my understanding that if Google were pulling a cached version of a title it would have gone for a more recently cached one? Any thoughts on why Google's turned back the clock on our site's name would be greatly appreciated! -Jamie

Is this a correct use of 302 redirects?
Hi all, here is the situation. A website I'm working on has a small percentage of almost empty pages. Those pages are filled "dynamically" and could have new content in the future, so, instead of 404ing them, we automatically noindex them when they're empty and remove the noindex once they have content again. The problem is that, due to technical issues we can't solve at the moment, some internal links (and URLs listed in sitemaps) to almost empty pages remain live also when pages are noindexed. In order not to waste Google crawler's time, sending it to noindexed pages through those links, someone suggested us to redirect those pages to our homepage with a 302 (not a 301 since they could become indexable again, so it can't be a permanent redirect). We did that, but after some weeks Search Console reported an increase in soft 404s: we checked it and it is 100% related to the 302 implementation. The questions are: is this a correct use of 302 redirects? Is there a better solution we haven't thought about? Maybe is it better to remove 302s and go back to the past situation, since linking to noindexed pages isn't such a big problem? Thank you so much!

Moz gives me an A, Goggle completely ignores
I'm sure this type of question gets asked a lot, but I need some help here. Site: www.lodgmate.com We sell hotel supplies. Site has been active over a year. It has never been listed by Google for term "hotel supplies", at all. Have run numerous analytics, including Moz. While not perfect, no major flags. Moz gives the page an "A" for "hotel supplies", but none of the search engines return this site for that term. Did have an issue with too many key words, but that has since been corrected. Have never engaged in any questionable SEO tactics. I can understand not placing high in search, but not at all?? What's wrong? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Using Google Adwords is good?
I heard about that if you using adwords, google drops your ranking a little bit. Because of you already pay money for results. I think that is reasonable.

Using the word "FREE" in domain name
Hi, This may seem like a simple question but a new client of mine wishes to use a domain name with the word "free" in it. The website will offer free activity vouchers. I couldn't see this being a problem as there a lot of websites that do this although he was told it may present a problem with the search engines thinking the site was spammy. It won't be and will be offering information and vouchers on local sporting activities. I was wondering if anybody could clarify this please so I can give him a more definitive answer to his question. Thanks for your help.
