How realistic is it to get to googles first page
-
Hello, I cannot say what my website it for, as it is very unique ( or will be for the next 4-6 months ).
I am currently developing this site now with the view to launch next month.
I will be doing every bit of on-site SEO as possible. Spending countless late nights perfecting it, referring to MOZ checklists and blogs. When the site goes live my team of 4 will be constantly marketing/SEO for around 5 hours each a day. Things like doing guest blogs, normal blog posts, link building .... essentially all aspects that need to be covered.
As well we are consulting with an SEO company to help us too.
I have 1 main keywords which I need to rank for ( I can't show these ).
This keyword has a 62% keyword difficulty, however, the website with number 1 position for this keyword only has 8 Domain Authority and 23 page authority.
Given the fact 4 of us will be doing non-stop of-site SEO, aswell as paying an SEO company and in general my content and site structure will be a lot more releveant for the user.
Is it possible for me to rank in the top page of google within 3 months of launch, and become rank 1/2 after 4-5 months?
Thanks

Sounds like you will do fine. But as Deacyde and EGOL mention, be wary of over-doing things and getting penalized.

Be careful. This sounds like you could be on the edge of danger. Be sure that you don't use a little too much force or do anything that Google would consider to be a link scheme.
This keyword has a 62% keyword difficulty, however, the website with number 1 position for this keyword only has 8 Domain Authority and 23 page authority.
The fact that the top position has a DA of 8 has watered down the real KW difficulty to 62%. Expect it to be more like 72%.
If I was going into this attack using a website with an existing DA of 80, I would be cautious about being able to pull off the desired rankings in the timeframe that you have given.
Rand's Whiteboard Friday from today explains why weak and nascent websites with puny authority often have really good rankings.

It's very possible, just don't do anything blackhat or try for fast results. What is impossible is getting to page 1 fast, there just isn't a fast way to do it and stay there.
It will take time, 6 months + kinda time, but once there, you'll still be working hard to stay there, but will be much easier.
I agree wholeheartedly that you should be trying to rank for as many keywords as possible, think of it like honeypots, can catch a few bees with one pot, but the more you have, the more bees you'll catch.
Then you craft the content and page creatively and within regulation standards, you can rank a page for multiple keywords that could potentially rank on page 1. But be careful not to use the same keyword on other pages, and if that keyword is part of a longtail, make sure you craft the content to show that the page is about that longtail.
If you stay relevant with the content compared to the keyword, you'll further increase CTR and conversions.

Hi VERBInteractive
Thank you for responding to my question, I really to appreciate it.
The main keyword volume is 9,900 US and 2,600 UK. My website concept is very rare at the moment, having only around 8 direct competitors in the world, 0 from the UK which I think will help me get those UK hits.
I have got a good list of 30 keywords i will be targeting, however these have very low search volume so its vital that i rank for my main keyword.
The websites that come in 2nd 3rd and so on actually have domain authorities averaging between 60-90. However these websites are not my competitors, they are blogs talking about the area of website i am creating. This tells me that my direct competitor holding rank 1 with very low domain/page authority has got the position because they actually have the content these other pages are talking about.
And I am using the keyword difficulty tool to track the volume and difficulty, while finding my competitors keywords etc...

Hi Matthew,
It is totally possible, especially if the top spot is held by a site with such a low Domain authority. Do you know what kind of Search volume this keyword has? No point in ranking in the top position for a term no one ever searches, it will never convert. Have you explored any additional similar keywords? I wouldn't focus on just one, but explore 10-20 with high intent and a decent search volume and try to get in the top 3 for as many of those as possible. How are you tracking keywords?

What is the easiest and most scalable way to add links from one page to a related page entry?
We have a Spanish language reference site, and want to link related entries to each other. For example, the entry for "home" can link to the page with the entry for "home away from home." What is the best and most efficient way to do this at scale?

Is there an upper bound on the number of links an url might get in a day?
There are link spammers and programs like GSA and others, that automate linkbuilding, and I was wondering if anybody ever had a penalty because a page on his site is getting too many references (links). I am not talking about spamming here. So provided that the links are coming from relevant, unique sources, but you do an over excessive campaign, and you seem to be getting too many backlinks, can it negatively affect SEO? Alternatively: is there an upper bound on the number of links you try to build in a day when you are doing linkbuilding?

How Are You Handling Blog Posts/Author Pages when Employees Leave the Company?
What do you believe to be the best approach in handling blog content for employees once they have left the company? We don’t want to remove the blog posts so they need to stay, but then there are the author pages. This gets tricky because the CMS ties the blog post to the author. One approach might be to change the author’s name to the Company’s name to get around author pages for people no longer with the company. It’s kind of tricky because the blog posts won’t have the same credibility if they don’t have a person’s name/photo associated with the post. We could leave the blogger’s page and list him as a “Contributing Author” once he’s left the company. Thoughts?

Could posting on YouMoz get you penalized for "Guest Blogging?"
From my understanding, Matt Cutts hates guest blogging, so I told all of the attorneys here not to write anywhere but on our blog. However, I realized people are constantly "guest blogging' on Moz, and considering how smart these people are, it must not be hurting them or they wouldn't do it. However, what I don't understand is why? Yes, I do get that the quality of what's on YouMoz is high and not spammy, but I got the impression that didn't really matter. Guest blogging would get you into trouble no matter what. Can someone clarify for me? Thanks, Ruben

Duplicate Page Content WordPress blog with categories?
Just got a crawl report back from SEOmoz and it gives me lots of errors for "duplicate page content". Upon investigating, I notice this is because my WP blog is setup into categories so the home page is almost identical to one of the category pages. None of my actually posts are the same but the category pages have some overlap since the same post could show up in two or more categories. Is this a problem or can I just ignore this error? Any thing I should be doing differently? Thanks!

What is the best practice for using the same content on two pages?
I have two websites in a very similar niche(s)...I have good unique content article that I would like to use on both sites because it adds value to the visitor experience.. Example: Science of Colors would be very useful for my seattle house painting paint colors page. I want to have content so they do not need to leave the site to navigate to second site. Would the identical content trigger a penalty or would it be crawled, ignored, and not indexed. Does having a rel=authorship on one site trump the site..Or is it a pile of BAD.

Google : Bad positioning of my new articles for 2 months
For one or two months my new questions / Answers have a bad positioning and competitors who have a contents of inferior quality are classified in front of dismoicomment.fr. Recently I had + of 1000 errors of exploitation in webmasters tools because there was an url in the code of every page which was untraceable. Do you think that it can come from there? Nevertheless since the passage of Google panda, I have more traffic. I don't Understand... Furthermore my old posts have same positioning. My website : www.dismoicomment.fr Thank you. Sorry for my bad level in english.
