Video & Graph That Lazy Loads
-
Hi,
Product pages on our site have a couple of elements that are lazy loaded / loaded after user action. Apart from images which is a widely discussed topic in lazy loading, in our case Videos & Price Graphs are lazy loaded.
For videos we do something that Amit Agarwal recommended here: http://labnol.org/internet/light-youtube-embeds/27941/ - We load a thumbnail and a play button over it. When a user clicks that play button, the video embedd form Youtube would load. However we are not sure if Google gets that and since the whole thing is under a H3 tag, will we a) loose out benefit of putting a relevant video there b) send any negative signals for only loading a image thumbnail under an h3 tag?
We also have price graph, that lazy loads and is not seen when you see a cached version of our page on Google. Are we losing credit (in Google's eyes) for that content on our page?
Sample page which has both price history graph & video http://pricebaba.com/mobile/apple-iphone-6s-16gb
Appreciate your help!
Thanks

Hi there.
Your link doesn't work.
Anyway. Youtube video are embedded iframes, and as we know, iframes are considered pretty much as a part of another website, inserted into your website's page. I assume that price thingy is the same. So, no matter if you lazy load it or not, iframe will not be considered as a part of YOUR content, especially not as unique content for sure.
So, make sure that you have plenty of another content on those pages - text, images, whatever. Otherwise even from the user experience perspective it would be not the best page to be on.
Hope this helps.

Redirect 301 & Wild Cards
Afternoon All! Question, I am having trouble getting my head around redirects and I am wondering if someone could help me on this.... We recently changed our website and although were using the same database, were using a different URL structure. So for example... Old URL siteurl.com/products/product/moredetails/merlin.id1553.html
Technical SEO | | scottiedog
New URL siteurl.com//vertigo/dl/product.php?p=1553 As you can see the product has the same ID number, just in a different directory. What I'd like to happen is.... If you go too siteurl.com////.idXXXX.html then you are 301'd too siteurl.com//vertigo/do/product.php?p=XXXX Obviously XXXX is the ID number of the product in our database. Any thoughts? I need help! Thanks in advance.0 -
Ranking for Synonymous Terms (ie. lawyer & attorney)
To accomplish ranking for synonymous search terms, are we better off just letting Google make the connection? Should we put the secondary synonymous term in our page titles? Is it best practice to create a completely unique landing page for the term? Not sure how to go about this. Some examples would be "miami lawyer" or "miami attorney", "obgyn" vs "gynecologist" etc. Any help on this would be much appreciated!

Directory Naming & File Organization
We're redoing an entire site and are going to reorganize, and link to the site's pages by directory instead of page name. So instead of:xyz.com/services/fixingtvs.phpit will be:xyz.com/fixingtvsAt first I was thinking 1 index.php page per directory but that will make content management really confusing with a bunch of files with the same name.Anyone have a better idea? Thanks,Matt

Should i use NoIndex, Follow & Rel=Canonical Tag In One Page?
I am having pagination problem with one of my clients site , So I am deciding to use noindex, follow tag for the Page 2,3,4 etc for not to have duplicated content issue, Because obviously SEOMoz Crawl Diagnostics showing me lot of duplicate page contents. And past 2 days i was in constant battle whether to use noindex, follow tag or rel=canonical tag for the Page 2,3,4 and after going through all the Q&A,None of them gives me crystal clear answer. So i thought "Why can't i use 2 of them together in one page"? Because I think (correct me if i am wrong) 1.noindex, follow is old and traditional way to battle with dup contents
Technical SEO | | DigitalJungle
2.rel=canonical is new way to battle with dup contents Reason to use 2 of them together is: Bot finds to the non-canonical page first and looks at the tag nofollow, index and he knows not to index that page, meantime he finds out that canonical url is something something according to the url given in the tag,NO? Help Please???0 -
I need help on web page load time, its very bad!
Note: This is KILLING my customer experience. Here is my webpage: http://www.stbands.com Here is a speed test that may help you (look at the poor ratings in the upper corner) http://www.webpagetest.org/result/110628_MW_Y8CQ/1/details/ I have an F on "Cache Static Content" - anyone know how I can fix this? Also, it is a e-commerce website hosted through core commmerce. I have some access to code but not all of it. Some of it is dynamic. However, if you tell me specific things I can forward it to their very awesome tech department. They are very willing to work with me and are now considering implementing a CDN after I schooled them. Any help is greatly appreciated. Don't be afraid to get very technical - I may not understand it, but the engineers there will.
