Reviews - Google & Third Party
-
Hi
We have reviews on our product pages & service reviews on Feefo, but how important is it to also drive customers to review your company on Google?
I'm guessing we should be doing both, but it proves difficult when you already ask them to review your company through a third party?
Any tips moz?

Hi Becky!
While it's great that you're generating reviews of additional third party review websites, Google should take priority. Most people visiting the website/searching for the business are going to find the website via Google. When they do that, it's likely that they will either see the local pack or the knowledge graph, both of which show their Google rating. These ratings play a significant role in generating click throughs to the website. No matter how many reviews you have on another website, these reviews won't impact the CTR to your website.
To ask for reviews through Google, you can't give anyone an incentive. But I suggest adding a place in the company newsletter that directs them to leave a review on Google, or posting things on social media that ask satisfied customers to leave them a review!
Hope this helps—good luck generating more great reviews!

I use an app created by some of the super smart local SEO guys, called Get Five Stars. It lets you direct your client to whatever review sites are the most beneficial for you.

I built a webpage with links to the review sites we are listed on, in hopes the customer will use the platform they are most comfortable with. They use Google and Facebook the most.

From a customer point of view I know that reviews, so long as they can be seen directly on your website (or product) and are from an impartial source (Feefo, McAfee, etc.), can result in an increase in sales (some companies say this can be as drastic as a 40% increase). For instance, when I buy something on Amazon the first thing I do is look at the reviews, the response will determine whether or not I buy that product. That same logic will apply on all ecommerce sites.
From an SEO point of view, I hear companies making claims that reviews increase Google Rank as they make your site appear more trusted, but I cannot vouch for this as I have not tested it. Maybe someone else can chime in on this?

Does cached duplicate content hurts seo by Google
If we have duplicate content or pages cached in Google which has been indexed months back, still it hurts the original pages? Old URLs with cache can be seen now in Google when we search for the same URLs.

Google Adding / Manipulating Page Meta Titles?
We have a client who is experiencing some heavy google modification to the title tags being displayed on the search engine. It is adding "- 0 Reviews" to an ecommerce site. Obviously a bad start. There were no instances of these keywords anywhere on any of these pages, header tag or otherwise (on only a handful of the affected pages there was a single commented out image with an alt tag 0 reviews - but it was commented out and since removed) We have attempted to rewrite the title multiple times and it will modify the title but still include the non-relevant addition. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this?

Anchor name URLs & anchor blocks: how Google sees them?
Hi guys, Anchor name URLs & anchor blocks: how Google sees them? As far as I know Google hasn't ever recommended anchor name URLs and anchor blocks, mostly when you have one page site, but I have ran into an organic result with an hyper-link to an anchor name URL. anchor name link There is a proper link and there aren't on the page and the code the words "Jump to". It means Google has put those words there and it has also taken the header of that block as anchor text. Why has Google placed that link? The query is "faqs umbrella company", so I thought that Google has seen "faqs umbrella company" like "what is the most popular faq about umbrella companies?" and therefore perhaps the correct answer could be "Is an umbrella company the only option I have? What are the alternatives?". Although, IMHO the most popular FAQ on Umbrella Companies should always be "what is an umbrella company". Unfortunately, that page is only worthy of third Google organic result page and there is no hint of rich snippet or any kind of conversational/KBT optimisation on its source code. no-rich-snippet Someone has any idea of why Google shows that link and if it's something that we can optimise in our pages? De-indexed homepage in Google - very confusing.
A website I provide content for has just suffered a de-indexed homepage in Google (not in any of the other search engines) - all the other pages remained indexed as usual. Client asked me what might be the problem and I just couldn't figure it out - no linkbuilding has ever been carried out so clean backlink profile, etc. I just resubmitted it and it's back in its usual place, and has maintained the rankings (and PR) it had before it disappeared a few days ago. I checked WMT and no warnings or issues there. Any idea why this might've happened?

Google Multiple Results
With Google's penchant for listing at times many results - one on top of the other - from the same domain, is it now advisable to not worry about having multiple pages in the same site targeting the same or very similar keywords? Is this (keyword/page internal competition) one less thing that I have to worry about or worry about less or what? Thanks! Best... Jane

Meta Title Not Showing up in Google
Hello Friends, I have a website, www.bollywoodshaadis.com. On 1st may we changed our servers and revamped our website as per SEO updated guidelines. For some strange reason Google is not showing site Meta Title when you search the website on Google. All it shows is the domain name in the meta title. However, when you search info:www.bollywoodshaadis.com it shows the right Meta tags. Any reason for this happening? I have never seen this before. Thank you in advance.

Google's reaction to site updates
Hi, Is it safe to assume as soon as Google indexes updates I've made to my site that any ranking changes the updates effected will happen at that same time, or is there ever a lag time before these changes ( if any ) take effect?
