Social Bookmarking as part of an SEO strategy?
-
Hi all,
I was wondering on my commute to work this morning the effectiveness of Social Bookmarking as part of a SEO campaign.
The sites I work on generally have the social bookmarking widgets and they do get used by website visitors. In addition to this we also bookmark our sites, new articles and other new content within the top 5 social bookmarking sites.
This is all done as part of a wider social strategy.
But could I be spending my time better else where?
Whats everyones thoughts on Social Bookmarking and do you incorporate it in your SEO campaigns?
Cheers
Aran
UPDATE: I note that SEOmoz Q&A only have Tweet, Like and Stumble...

I think it depends on your business, but it's not just about promoting yourself and posting endless tweets etc. - you need to build relationships and target the right people - get involved, help people out, comment on how you enjoyed something they posted, if you genuinely did, and if it's relevant to your market.
If you just post everything from your sites to your StumbleUpon profile, for example, why would anyone follow you? If you post other interesting content that's relevant to your websites, with occasional posts to the best content on your websites, then I reckon that's a better tactic.

Hi Aran,
Social bookmarking is quite essential for any SEO campaign in my opinion. There are many social bookmarking options you can consider such as Facebook, Tweeter, Stumble Upon, Google +, Reddit, Digg...etc. Not only are they a great source of traffic, as Techcrunch recently saw with Google +. SEO Moz also did a good study on the influence of Tweets with regards to SEO called A Tweet's effect on rankings.
I personally would recommend the following: Facebook Like/Share, Stumble Upon, Twitter and Google +. But you have to make your decision based on the audience your site is targeting.
Cheers,
Walid

Backlink Transparency with SEO Agency
Hello everyone. I recently started working with an SEO agency and today they gave me an updated keyword report which showed some increase in rankings. I was not aware that any backlinks had been created yet so I asked for a report of the links. Their response is below and I am just wondering if this is normal practice being I have not worked with any type of SEO agency yet. "

Hey Daniel, We release a small report on them which the guest blog team will do soon. We don't reveal all backlink sources unfortunately because people have tried to bother the webmasters we have and basically steal our techniques. But rest assured you will be ranking at the top of the pack with our methods 😃

SEO Consultant Wants to Disavow Organic Links
Hi, We're working with a SEO consultant. They made a second check of our inbound links and want to disavow some of the links that seems organic to me. They claim they're bad by their characteristics. Should we act as they suggest or not? Or should we run from them?;-) Here are some links in question:

Value of IMG links for SEO
Hello, I'm looking for some new ways to build links (IE, letitimate not spam), and I know sites featuring a site that I created would be an interesting way to do so. My question is this, the StudioPress Showcase pages http://www.studiopress.com/showcase/baltimore-print-studios link back to your site with an image, with some "Almost URL Alt text". How valuable would this link be, given that the DA is 97 and the PA is in the upper 40s Thanks Zach

Right now I train my interns and new hires on 5 techniques: 1. Appropriate blog commenting the right way 2. Saving social bookmarks 3. Submitting a website to a directory 4. How to build up, maintain and use a Twitter/Facebook/Digg/StumbleUpon profile for SEO Are there some other lower level link building tactics you have tried to teach interns or new hires?
